Chapter 1834: Who?
Chapter 1834: Who?
Cassarae's grinding teeth sounded like metal scraping against metal, sparks flying. Red-gold streaks collided with the ground, but instead of catching fire, they sliced right through the floor.
Behind her, rushing, there was a small group of women, but they couldn't seem to keep up at all.
She walked right up to Sylas, ignoring Old Brama and even Elara's giggling. As for Isolde, she only smiled and got out of the way as Cassarae reached forward and pulled Sylas up by his collar until they were nose to nose.
"Do you think you can just treat me however you want? Is that it? Do I look like a pretty little housewife who's going to just patiently wait for you at home?"
Sylas blinked. There was an alarming lack of cussing in her words this time. That... was a problem.
This was about as serious as Cassarae's speech got.
She wasn't just a small bit pissed this time.
Old Brama felt like he was being surprised again and again these days. He had heard of Cassarae from afar before... namely from Alex who insisted on calling her "Dommy Mommy" whenever Sylas was out of earshot. He had even heard about the "legendary pussy" that birthed Sylas as well.
But he had always taken it as Alex being Alex. He never took anything seriously.
The Sylas he knew wouldn't get lectured by his mother, and he certainly wouldn't allow a woman-even his woman -to put her hands on him like this. He also wouldn't have a little sister that jumped right into his arms the moment she saw him either.
The Sylas he knew couldn't have a family, couldn't have a heart, couldn't have any feelings whatsoever.
Yet, looking at Cassarae practically growling at Sylas as though she didn't have a single fear of him in the world. He... didn't know what to think.
"What? Cat got your tongue? Where's your snappy retort? Are you going to tell me that you were very busy? That your life was in danger every second of every day?
"Well, news flash! You're not special, Sylas Brown! In case you forgot, you left me alone to deal with a B-Grade organization all while forbidding me from leveling from Level O!
"And then you just up and come back and take the one thing that gave me any sort of leverage against them at all, then disappeared... AGAIN!"
By this point, Cassarae's silvery blue eyes were practically pulsing with red. It felt like any moment now they might become a pair of demonic irises instead.
"... Extenuating circumstances." Sylas finally said.
Cassarae's skull nearly burst at the seams. She pulled her head back and slammed her forehead toward Sylas' nose. However, just as it was going to connect, a strong bout of telekinesis slowed it down considerably until it was practically like she was bashing her head against a cloud.
"You should be careful." Sylas said.
"FUCK YOU!"
Before Sylas could be relieved that Cassarae was cursing again, her telekinesis was torn to shreds by a sword aura and he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
His pupils constricted as a forehead bashed into his nose.
He blinked.
His nose was just fine, but the blood leaking down his lips was extremely real. He had Infinite Will, could tap into D- Grade Will, and had even used his Will at a level lower to resist against a C-tier's attempt to break a contract.
Yet Cassarae had just shattered his telekinesis. What was that?
Her Will had so much form and substance. Even he couldn't do that, not until he crafted a Rune. That was the only way to give his Will such form.
His telekinesis was technically a form of that as well, but it had many weaknesses he had yet to find a way to shore up.
This was unlike, though. That wasn't a Rune. It was a completely different way of giving Will form and substance.
Sylas had only casually referred to it as Sword Aura in his mind, but the more he thought about it, the more he felt that it wasn't him that had thought of it.
It had practically whispered its name to him through the void.
In a bit of a daze, he looked at Cassarae's status screen, taking advantage of his status as her husband.

'Sword Servant Profession... Sword Aura Title... Sharpen Ancestral Gene Talent... Sword Comprehension... her stats have also gone up significantly...'
It hadn't been long since he had seen Cassarae. The last time he had looked at her status screen was just before the last time he had come to Earth.
After that, he had claimed the Silver City, stayed on Earth for about a month, before he left to participate in the gathering. That swept him up in all the matters related to his Quests. But even with all that time added up, it was less than three months.
Sylas was used to himself improving this quickly. But for someone else, it stood out immediately.
His expression became frighteningly cold.
"Who did this?"
The temperature plummeted to rock bottom and Old Brama found himself trembling head to toe. Even his granddaughter appearing at the entrance couldn't peel his eyes away from Sylas as a great deal of trauma threatened to bubble up at that moment.
There was only one way Cassarae's stats could have gone up like this.
Danger.
And Sylas wanted to know who had caused it.
