Chapter 1901: None [Bonus]

Sylas stared out into the distance, his expression still the picture of calm, his gaze unbothered as though he saw right through the Wills that continuously tried to sweep over the area.
They would pay for that, to be sure.
But this, this was just the beginning.
There would come a day when not a single soul dared to disrespect him like that again.
[The Ushering of the 714th Era of the Emperor Sanctum has begun]
[Lineages have {6:23:59:59} remaining to assign their 714th Emperor]
Sylas closed his eyes when he perceived the notification. seemed that he was correct.
Fanelei was still looking around in confusion. She didn't know what was going on because she couldn't see the system notifications. These notifications were only for the disciples and heads of the Emperor Sanctum.
Quite frankly, she could only stand here at all because Sylas' standing in the Sanctum allowed it to be so. Otherwise, she wouldn't even be able to step foot on the mountain at all without exerting a great amount of power and breaking the formations that underlaid it.
Fanelei's confused expression quickly became sharp as she looked out toward the distance. Her body pulled completely taut.
The people coming were not weak, and under the influence and power of the Emperor Sanctum, she had reason to fear them even on a one-to-one basis, let alone with so many of them at once.
At the helm of the surging group-and the first to arrive-was a series of individuals whose auras spoke for themselves.
There was a man with a golden illusory lion hanging just behind his head, a woman with surging illusory tides and the tail of a whale continuously slapping at the air wrapped around her, a man with wild sideburns and canines that seemed half real and half illusory, and finally, yet another woman with a violet illusory serpent wrapping around her body.
However, these people didn't walk around like this on a day-to-day basis. Instead, the illusory constructs pulling at them now were actually being fought against by them. They were representations of their authority being slowly pulled out of them and prepared for the 714th Cycle.
But now wasn't the time.
Their heirs weren't ready, and if it was forced, they would explode the moment they came into contact with these Wills.
Sylas knew this.
Gralith was once a candidate to become the 713th Scorpion Emperor. However, his Spirit Beasts were taken away and used as the core of the 001 and 007 Sanctum Scorpion Lineages.
This was something Sylas had learned a while back, but it made him ask one question.
If the Branch Sanctums needed a Spirit Beast to act as the guiding principle and teach them the Wills of the beasts they followed, then what did the Emperor Sanctum use?
Of course, there was the possibility that the Emperor Sanctum just relied on their own individual Spirit Beasts. After all, they were born with them, so why not?
The Branch Sanctums needed the guidance of the Spirits because they weren't Spirit Beasts themselves. As such, without them, sensing the Will of the Beasts they wanted to emulate would be very difficult.
But the Spirit Beasts themselves had no need for this. They could just look internally.
That was when Sylas remembered something in the Rule Book.
The thing about making a Rule Book bound in Karma and special enough to enlighten Sylas about Rune Mastery was that it had to detail everything.
The reason the Rule Book was able to make Sylas comprehend the essence of Perfect Spark Mastery was because the Rule Book wasn't just a set of guidelines; it had a culture to it, a life. And because of that, everything that wasn't already detailed could be inferred through a simple question.
What would the Ancestors of the Spirit Beasts want?
It was a question more complicated than it sounded, as it got to the very root and core of what the Ancestors who crafted the Rule Book thought would be best for their future generations.
Why was this crucial?
Ironically, this was important because of the Mirror Dungeon.
The Mirror Dungeon existed as probably the greatest treasure of the Emperor Sanctum. Every new Lineage that joined, it would grow and evolve, building on what was already there and taking a step beyond.
That was the core of what it meant to be a member of the Emperor Sanctum.
They weren't an organization of Rune Masters; they were an organization of Will Masters. There was nothing they took more seriously than respecting that and growing it.
After you understood that, and you also understood that a Spirit could exist independently of its Spirit Beast, there was only one question to ask.
What would the Ancestors of such an organization... such a Sect do when they passed away?
It seemed obvious that they would pass their Wills on, allowing their Spirits to fuse into a great cause, slowly strengthening their Sect over time.
And where would that power rest?
Of course, it would come to rest in the next generation.
And that meant that this time, it was the turn of the 714th Generation to benefit from these Spirits.
Sylas looked at them calmly as their rage practically boiled over. But he hardly seemed to notice at all.
You see, the problem with passing down your Will was how difficult it was to do. The gap between Tiers was
enormous.
The only reason Sylas had been able to absorb the Monkey King's was because the latter had not only sent his Will forward into the future, but he had also been restricted to the E-tier.
Now, if this 714th Cycle of Emperors tried to absorb the Spirits their Ancestors had left for them, there was little hope other than for them to explode on impact.
In accordance with the Will of the Ancestors-and to stop the selfish from hoarding power-this was a change that was forced upon the current Cycle of Emperors whether they liked it or not.
If they held out to the end, they would die first, and then the Spirit would move on.
But when the Spirit inevitably killed its chosen because they were too weak, it would be forced to move on again.
And then again.
And then again.
Until the Emperor Sanctum had no younger generation to speak of.
