Chapter 1905: Pride of Youth
Chapter 1905: Pride of Youth
What was so special about this plane and how it was connected was all too obvious to Sylas. There were no real beasts on that plane, at least not in the same way Sylas was used to seeing them.
They were Spirits, beings without true physical form. And yet, they were little different from so-called "real beasts" nonetheless.
It was impossible for even Sylas to deduce the entire story, but if he had to guess, the original Mirror Dungeon was found in this plane by the original Ancestor of the Spirit Beasts. Thanks to this, they were able to slowly grow their power.
Under a series of coincidences and lucky chances, they were able to use a reward for claiming the first original Mirror Dungeon to incorporate a Spirit within themselves and thus become the first true Spirit Beast.
Slowly, over time, the Spirit Beasts grew into an enormous Clan with many dozen Spirits and Lineages divided between them all. But it all started right here.
There was one more piece to this story, though, and that was likely the ambitions of the original Spirit Beast Ancestor.
It had to be remembered that the Gateway Treasure Sylas used back then to hunt Serpentes and obvious what had been a near-impossible Quest for him was connected to a special Dimension... a Dimension tied to another thing that Sylas was quite familiar with.
[Tamer of Dimensions (Legendary)]
[The Beasts of Legend exist across all known and unknown Existence, impossible to find to all but you. Form a Dimension of your own to store your beasts, and open gateways to explore new worlds to find more.] —
All three of these concepts tied into one.
"You can stay here," Sylas said calmly. "I will go on ahead."
Fanelei nodded.
The other Emperors felt highly uncomfortable right now, but there was little they could do. The situation was entirely in Sylas' hands.
"Sylas Grimblade. There are less than seven days remaining," the 713th Serpent Emperor said slowly, unable to hold herself back from speaking.
Her meaning was clear. Sylas was promising to fix these things, but if he wasn't back in time, then it would be meaningless.
Sylas didn't reply. He had already said everything he needed to. He had thought of every angle and possibility... There was no need for them to say anything at all. He had already thought of what they had several times over.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
The skies shook as a legion surged forward.
In the Enforcement Claw, a familiar member of the Lion Lineage lay on the ground, slowly bleeding out.
He seemed like he was about to lose his life, and yet he was chuckling even as his face grew paler.
He had tried to control the situation, but the numbers were too far out of his control.
The future of the Emperor Sanctum was more than a matter the four main Lineages could control, and it was certainly more than the elder generation alone could decide.
The younger generation wanted a say, too.
The strongest of them had already gone off to the Mirror World, but the others were getting ready to go after the path was stabilized again.
After they heard what was happening, how could they not take action? They understood the Rule Book too, and the moment they saw the notification, they were smart enough to piece together what was happening.
Right now, the Ancestors had formed an enormous circle around the temple. Given its size, they were each separated by hundreds of kilometers at a minimum, but their auras were still grandiose enough to form a dome of protection over the entire space.
This was the real reason Maldrith had been called. He, too, sat among their number.
After the first batch of Emperor Sanctum geniuses went in, the temple destabilized and threatened to collapse, so the next batch had been forced to wait while Kalem and Bulese went to retrieve Maldrith.
Now they were here, and rather than being restricted, they insisted on coming as well.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
There was a sea of them, each one in the D-tier.
This wasn't a surprise to Sylas. This was the strength of the current best of their generation.
The Emperor Sanctum certainly had plenty of other powerhouses in the C-tier, B-tier, and even A-tier. So one might wonder why the Spirit wouldn't just go to one of them.
The problem was that those people were of an elder generation. They were considered to be part of the 713th Cycle and were immediately disqualified by the Sanctum's system.
This generation simply hadn't had enough time to reach beyond the C-tier. There were extremely few of them who had managed to breach that level. But even if they did manage to make it to the C-tier, the only way they could withstand the baptism of the Spirits was to become a God Beast.
Even if one or two God Beasts appeared, what about the other Lineages? What would they do?
This was a checkmate they couldn't easily get out of, and they knew it.
But it seemed that the younger generation of the Emperor Sanctum was quite furious.
They had sat on the sidelines, watching as someone of their generation showed them up time and time again.
They were old enough now that they didn't need their elders to make decisions for them. If they wanted to die for their Sect, then they would do so.
They didn't fear Sylas Grimblade. Could he face every one of their blades?
The 713th Emperors were completely taken aback. They hadn't expected such a fierce response; they truly hadn't expected this.
And yet, their eyes couldn't help but light up with pride, blood within them that hadn't boiled in a very long time trembling in their veins.
The sound of unsheathing weapons filled the skies, and all at once, they aimed them right at Sylas' throat, their various colored eyes burning like stars as roars filled the air.
