Chapter 1928: Untold
Chapter 1928: Untold
Sylas ignored the A-tier bird beast as though it wasn't there at all. He went through the layers of his body one by one, pulling at the strands of S-tier Will as though the golden lake had become a pair of tweezers in his hand and ripping them out almost like they were metal-shaving splinters.
The pain was unbearable, but the golden lake, whatever it was, was surely living up to what it was designed to do.
Every time the energies wrapped around Sylas, he couldn't help but feel like he was experiencing the Hibernation Halo once again.
The feeling was far more potent and almost acute despite being surrounded by so much of it, but it carried the same signs.
Sylas coughed up a mouthful of foggy blood. It was darker than it should have been, and thicker as well. It almost looked like a cancerous growth.
It was then that Sylas realized he didn't just have the Hydra's S-tier Will within him, but that of the World Serpent as well. Both of them were in his body in different increments.
The Hydra's influence was especially odd. It felt like it was almost causing cancerous growths in his body like that mouthful of blood he had just coughed up.
His cells couldn't withstand the infinity in the Will, resulting in them responding with rapid division. If not for the evolution of his brain taking up so much of the energy in his body, Sylas would have probably inflated like a grotesque balloon of flesh by now.
What was even odder was the fact that the World Serpent's Will was the opposite. This one was tied with the stomach acid and shredded everything in its path apart, including the attempts at accelerated cancerous growth.
This led to situations where Sylas was coughing up thick mouthfuls of blood that were really just failed attempts his body had made at tumors.
Seeing the situation, it wasn't too difficult for Sylas to see how the Hydra had been defeated.
He could almost see the battle. Every time the Hydra lost a head and the World Serpent ate it, expending the energy to grow a new one, only to have it bitten off again... it was like the Hydra had been turned into the World Serpent's personal farmland, there only to curate more meat for the latter to eat.
What was so fearsome about this power of the World Serpents was that it was technically just there to facilitate their other abilities. It was definitely a key component to what made them so powerful, but Sylas hadn't gotten a real glance at the core of what made World Serpents so powerful.
It was as Sylas had said when he fought his first World Serpent...
They were a creature known for having the most powerful poison in all of the universe, and yet it wasn't their main ability.
Their main ability was controlling worlds, and they did that by consuming a great amount of energy.
Seeing the battlefield that was his body, Sylas could tell at a glance...
The Hydra would have lost 10 out of 10 battles. It wasn't even close. All it could do in the end was cling to life. It was extremely lucky that Sylas had appeared.
Before, Sylas had said that maybe the World Serpent would be hunting the Hydra down. With its senses, maybe the last thing you would want chasing you was a fully mature World Serpent. But seeing this now... Sylas wasn't so
sure.
'My assessment of the Hydra is likely skewed. The impact of the World Serpent's Will on me came from its full and complete body. The impact of the Hydra is from a heavily injured form.'
Sylas dismissed the thoughts.
The result of a battle between S-tiers wasn't something he had the qualifications for or the time to consider. It was too far beyond him.
Sylas grunted and coughed another mouthful of black blood.
Finally, he managed to corral the last of the S-tier strands of Will out of his body.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
The instant he did, it was like his body had become a huge funnel. The vitality in the surroundings was greedily swallowed by him, but it felt like only a small portion of it went to his body's actual healing. The rest of it all flooded into his brain, reforging and remolding it until it was completely healed.
Sylas had been in too much of a brain fog to realize earlier, but all the enhanced senses and sensory overload he had been experiencing earlier was from a heavily damaged brain. He had only barely been able to wake up from his unconscious state, but that didn't mean he had been fully healed.
If anything, he had only been awake because his body realized his wakeful state was the last chance it had at survival.
And now, Sylas was more than surviving.
Waves upon waves of energy flooded Sylas all while the A-tier bird beast watched.
It looked restrained by something, maybe its own intelligent thought. Right at that moment, the A-tier didn't seem to have warning or danger in its eyes at all. Instead, it observed excited.
This was the last reason Sylas was so sure he could do this.
As valuable as the pool was to the creature, he bet that sensing S-tier Will was even more valuable to it.
Whether it could make use of it or not, Sylas didn't know, and he also didn't care. That would have nothing to do with him.
What he really wanted was the energy to complete his evolution and heal himself.
And that was exactly what he got.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Sylas' eyes snapped open. The current on the surface of the lake raged so much that a vortex formed at Sylas' location as it all swirled toward him.
And then it came to a sudden stop as Sylas' body reached the saturation point.
He exhaled a breath, the ring of gold around his eyes becoming all the more sharp.
He clenched his fists, his body brimming with untold power.
