Chapter 2021: Razed [Bonus]
Chapter 2021: Razed [Bonus]
[Bonus thanks to Chronotitan <3]
Earth trembled, a violent darkness streaking out from the corners of Sylas' eyes.
He vanished once more, the waters falling to silence. The only sign of his ever having been there was the claw mark left on the gravestone.
In a location unknown to space and time, a pair of eyes stared down through an orb of glass... or was it water? It was hard to tell through the sheen whether it was a water so still and pure it seemed like glass, or a glass so lively and amorphous it seemed like water in some lights.
A smile tugged on the edge of the figure's lips.
The sound of whipping wings unfurled in the surroundings, a pair of them as black as night moving so fast and with such force that feathers of darkness fluttered down from them.
The image in the orb shifted away from Sylas and returned to Nosphaleen's tomb.
"What a fascinating set of circumstances. Sylas Grimblade... oh, Sylas Grimblade... you're a real thorn in my side. Your weaknesses are obvious and you make no attempt to hide them, but your intelligence... it makes them hard to take advantage of.
"You're so very controlled, so very cautious. I didn't expect such a chink in your valiant armor..."
A hand stroked the orb. Somehow, it seemed to change continuously, as though variations of the same or even different people were the ones partaking in the same action, overlaid across space and time.
"Your little sister is a demon you've hidden well..."
The image shifted again to a sight of Elara. She sat on a stone, her body littered with wounds and her face turned into a frown, but the viewer understood well that just moments ago Elara had been grinning ear to ear, devouring a beast four or five times her size.
She was frowning now because she had sensed her brother's frustration.
"I know exactly where she is, and yet she's quite difficult to get a hold of. What a clever little girl..."
The image shifted again and a sight of Cassarae furiously cooking up a meal showed. However, the instant it did, her eyes sharpened and Cassarae looked up to the skies.
Chi.
"Oop." The voice chuckled and shifted the image again. "Truly a family that's so difficult to deal with. But this... this I can work with."
A grin appeared in the shadows, hovering in the blackness as though the body attached to it was hidden away in the void.
Its finger ran down through a crack caused by Cassarae's gaze, and slowly, that crack fused back together as seamlessly as water sloshing back into place.
"Let's pull on this thread... shall we?"
The image changed one more time. This time, it landed on Alex.

Sylas directly left Earth, returning to the chaos of the Sanctum as though he couldn't bring himself to care to deal with anything else. A cloud loomed over his head and his thoughts felt jumbled and messy.
His thoughts came in a rapid fire that felt more like the final burst of a firecracker rather than the usual smooth sync he was used to.
He ran a hand over his forehead and back into his hair, exhaling slowly.
At some unknown point, Yamero had appeared by his side again. The Spark Weaver didn't say anything at all, just floating there in silence, sometimes wrapping around Sylas, sometimes not.
But the chaos that Sylas was expecting to receive upon his arrival didn't happen at all. It was like they had completely forgotten that he had commandeered their world and forced it to practically fuse its spacetime with that of Earth's.
"What are you trying to do?" Yamero eventually asked. "They're probably smart enough to not try and attack you directly anymore. There are better ways to vent."
Sylas didn't answer immediately, standing on the Monkey King Mountain in silence.
"I'm going to the Demi-God Realm."
"For your sister?"
"Yes."
Yamero fell into silence again. This didn't seem like the usual Sylas, but honestly who was he to say? It wasn't like he had known Sylas for very long, it was just that it felt like he did.
"Are you sure?"
Sylas didn't reply, but that was about as good an answer as Yamero was going to get.
From Yamero's perspective, Sylas seemed like the type to plan 10 steps ahead. This just didn't seem like something he was planning properly at all.
It had been a very long time since Sylas had gone into anything without a real plan.
His original intention was to wait until the Thryskai Mortal Clans basically begged for his help. He was sure they would need him when the time came. Then he would deal with and take advantage of whoever came to start their war to learn more about the Angels and maybe even the true leaders of the God Plane.
But he couldn't think about anything other than making sure his sister was safe right now.
The idea that she might be hurt, injured, or struggling filled him with a fury he couldn't properly place. Mixed in with emotions he couldn't handle from what happened with Nosphaleen and it was like something was constantly needling his heart.
If he didn't deal with it, he wouldn't be able to deal with anything else properly.
"I think that you should go and see your wife before you leave." Yamero said.

Sylas looked over at Yamero and he could swear the latter was doing whatever the snake equivalent of putting his hands up in surrender was.
"Listen, I've bagged a few beauties in my time. At some point, if you're going to sacrifice one for the sake of another, then you should probably keep the only one you have left happy, no?"
Sylas stared at Yamero for another long while before he looked away.
He took a step forward and Yamero sighed. But instead of doing what he thought, Sylas suddenly struck out a palm that felt like it sucked up all the Aether across dozens of kilometers.
BOOM.
The Monkey King Mountain was razed to the ground.
