Chapter 2057: Prisoner?

Chapter 2057: Prisoner?

Sylas walked ahead, vanishing into the darkness. There was a flicker in Hoffman's eyes.

"How long can we expect it to take before he asks for help?" the old man asked, Akshat and Nobel having become distant memories already.

Malikhi gave Hoffman a look. He seemed to be about to say something, but then he looked over and met Fanelei's gaze. The latter seemed to still be enraged, but when she heard Hoffman's comment, a flicker of amusement lit her eyes instead.

She saw Malikhi's look as well and they both seemed to make the same decision.

The situation in the Analei Clan's territory was far different from what was going on in the void teleportation realm. Large numbers of Analei gathered as though they were waiting for something or someone, and right at the front of it all was a familiar figure-though tinier than usual.

Leia.

She ignored everybody else, standing at the front of the group with fury still in her eyes.

Never had she forgiven Sylas for killing the love of her life. Her grandmother had told her that she could kill him if she could manage it, and it seemed like that opportunity had come for her today.

News that Sylas would be captured and brought forward on trial as a prisoner had been spread. The news channels were unknown, but the information was trustworthy enough that so many Analei had come.

Sylas was no normal human by this point. The entire Mortal Realm had heard his name, name that was only more infamous to the Weaver Guild than the Seeing Eye Guild itself.

It was no secret that the Seeing Eye Guild wanted Sylas' head, but the Weaver Guild had almost as much reason to want the very same thing.

Yet, of them all, Leia believed that she was the most wanting.

Her aura seethed, her teeth grinding like quaking earth in her ears.

Hoffman walked out of their underground network in a daze.

Not a single time. Not once.

He had been watching the entire time, and his senses had been primed to an extreme. But not only did Sylas not rely on any external items, he never asked for help, and his steps didn't even pause a single time.

The most shocking part? He walked in a line so perfect one would have thought there were markings on the floor he was unable to step outside of.

"How?" Hoffman gasped out.

It wasn't possible. There weren't even clear teachings on how their Void Teleportation system worked, it hadn't been built by them in the first place.

It was a reward one of their actual Founding Ancestors had received at some point in the distant past. It was probably the most valuable treasure they had in their stores as it was one of the only ways to seamlessly teleport across impossible distances.

Only they and the Thryskai had such methods.

Yet, from what it seemed like...

"He can...?" Hoffman's voice trailed off as though he didn't want to complete the sentence for fear it might actually be true.

"Not yet. But in the future, he certainly could maintain, fix, or craft a new one from scratch." Fanelei remarked calmly.

Hoffman's face went vivid red, not from embarrassment, but excitement.

It was said that this treasure of theirs had far more potential than they knew, but they could only use it for transportation because no one could understand it. Some even believed that there were some parts of it that had lost too much durability and thus they were forced to be restricted to this point.

All of this was speculation, but the core of it all was that...

They had no idea.

"It was best you saw this for yourself," Malikhi said. "We need as little pushback as possible, and what we see first hand is what we believe most."

Hoffman's expression became solemn. "You know how much pushback Kikochi received. It wasn't until he reached A-tier himself that our Clans were forced to acknowledge him.

"We're supposed to be a Guild, but we function too much like an alliance of Clans instead. It's hard for those that don't share our seven bloodlines to find purchase. In a life or death situation like this one, it will be hard."

Malikhi smiled. "In this case, it will be easier than not."

Hoffman frowned. "Why?"

"Because everyone has already seen what he can do. They might deny it, but it won't be a firm one."

...

BANG.

Sylas blocked a fist that tried to hit him square in the nose. A tiny Leia erupted with all her strength the instant he stepped into the Analei mansion, but he didn't even pause his stride, let alone take a step back.

A wall of pressure sent her flying back, her body shooting back so fast it left whistling winds in its wake until she

was embedded like a star into a far off wall.

Leia coughed up a mouthful of blood, her eyes rolling in her head as her consciousness faded in and out.

Those that had been with her froze in place.

It was quite the welcoming party left at the Analei Clan territory. It seemed that Nobel wanted to make a bigger show of things than he let on. It seemed he really thought dealing with Sylas wouldn't be all that difficult.

A shame, really.

Fanelei's lip twitched. This granddaughter was really going to be the end of her. If Sylas didn't kill her first, Leia would cost her every bit of sanity she had left.

But what really left her speechless was the wall of Analei that had arrived. They didn't look like they were ready for a fight, but instead like they had come to spectate something.

Clearly.

Leia's aura had been like a burning inferno seconds ago. Let alone the Analei, there were probably further territories that had sensed it as well.

And yet, the ending didn't even take more than a moment.

Leia was crushed and Sylas didn't even seem to have suffered so much as a scratch.
