Chapter 2111: You Will Succeed (2)
Sylas lost himself in Fanelei's plight, not caring for anything but the next Rune he would draw.
It was far easier than he thought it would be. Even for him, he thought it would be quite the difficult task.
Though he had reached the point where he could easily draw Core Stat Genes up to the Legendary level, Unique Genes were a different monster altogether, let alone what unique Gene Talents and further along, bloodline.
The gap between comprehended Core Stats and other things was vast. Unique Genes were a quagmire of complications and complexity. It was hard to demand of any Rune Creator, even if they were as talented as Sylas.
But… Sylas' Rune Creation had touched upon an entirely new level after he truly began to comprehend Will Manifestation and Manipulation. He didn't just grasp individual Strokes and Runes anymore, he grasped the very Will behind them, forming an environment that almost forced Runes to be crafted in a very specific and self-assured way.
The price of doing so was even much lesser than it had been in the past as well.
If he didn't have Fanelei's direction, then it would have taken Sylas months, at the very least, to do what he was doing here. But Fanelei had stretched out her soul and lay her heart bare. He could feel every aspect of her Will to the point he could practically see her memories reflecting back at him.
Even further, he could feel the unique Will she had carried through each individual life. And because of that, all he needed to do was follow the lead of the Will.
The comprehension of every Gene, every Gene Talent, and beyond came with greater and greater ease the more he understood it.
As he got the hang of things, he was even able to pluck from her Second and Third Lives as well, helping the Genes, Gene Talents, and beyond to better mesh and work with one another in a beautiful orchestra.
The pain that Fanelei was experiencing was very much still there, and it took everything in her power to keep her souls stretched out the way that they were. But every time Sylas finished with another Layer and then moved on, she could feel something inside of herself blooming, a sharper instinct, a greater understanding.
Her heart shook every time. She should have been used to it by now, used to Sylas' genius, the complexity of his mind, the outside-the-box thinking that had crushed the spirits of so many that came before her.
But she truly couldn't help it.
Here he was, a D-tier, rebuilding the foundations of an A-tier with nothing but Rune Mastery.
The universe itself seemed to march to the beat of his drums, and with nothing more than his Will, he pulled at energy and organized it.
It was said that the universe inevitably moved toward destruction, that chaos was its natural state, but Fanelei couldn't help but think that if Sylas reached the ceiling one day… Wouldn't the universe have no choice but to find order in its chaos?

Sylas stumbled a step back, gasping for breath. His mind felt like it was running on fumes, but he couldn't remember the last time he had felt so fulfilled. He had had that feeling of excitement when he felt a challenge he couldn't be sure of crushing not long ago, and maybe a little bit when he was fighting against the Zeus Puppets before he figured out how to crush them.
But this felt amazing, so much so that a small smile tugged at his lips.
Yamero floated to the side, looking at everything with sparkling eyes. He was sure in that moment that Sylas was undoubtedly an existence that would continue to stimulate his mind.
At first, Sylas was just taking Fanelei's Will and reflecting it back at her, forging Genes and the like that she had had in the past more perfectly than before and helping her integrate them. But as time went on, he started filling in gaps, pulling at tendrils of Will that even Fanelei had neglected and bringing them to the forefront.
He was improving the foundations of an A-tier with mere F-, E-, and D-tier Runes. It was astounding.
Yamero's own ambitions were truly lofty as well. He was nothing but a Will construct, but he wanted to form a body of Runes and give himself true life.
What shocked Yamero was the fact that if he was in the D-tier, he was pretty sure that Sylas could have crafted him a real body with ease. It wouldn't be on the same level as the body that he was aiming for, and it certainly wouldn't match up to his ambitions, but it would be a body nonetheless.
At this point, Sylas was treating life as though it was a game in the palm of his hands. This was True Rune Creation, an act no less than that of a God.
He needed no external materials, no help, nothing but his Will and a wave of a hand was enough to construct a body from nothing.
If there came a day that he could forge Will too…
At that point, wouldn't he be able to breathe life back into existence with a snap of his fingers?
What sort of level would that be? What level would Sylas be at that point?
Fanelei unleashed one more quiet yell as her souls snapped back together into their original Layer. The backlash made her cough up a mouthful of black blood as she fell into Sylas' arms.
Sylas, himself, was quite weak at the moment, but he still caught her, standing tall. Picking her up, he walked her forward and then laid her down on the mat she used to meditate on. Then he covered her body with her robes.
"She will need a moment, as will I." Sylas said.
"What's your plan?"
"To eat." Sylas said calmly.
Yamero burst into a fit of laughter.
"And then we kill."
