Chapter 2159: Deconstruct
Chapter 2159: Deconstruct
Gogo tore through the skies, reality overturning and whining. His Will poured into the crevice of everything, ripping it apart and forcing the laws to bend to his whims.
There was a surging might that overturned everything, and it seemed to propel Gogo forward faster and faster.
Sylas' gaze flashed. His pupils widened.
'Deconstruct.'
Chi.
They flew straight through a barrier as it unwound. Fragments of glass and broken Runes flailed around as though the whipping winds of a jet engine had just howled by.
Chi.
They appeared above the palace and the Duchess couldn't help but react with a shaking heart again.
That formation… it must have taken years to set, and hundreds of Rune Masters to finish. The process was beyond her understanding, and the genius of the one that could have created such a large-scale formation in the first place was simply too far beyond her own realm of possibilities to contextualize.
A single glance.
That was all it had taken.
Sylas analyzed it, found its weakness, and ripped it apart all before Gogo even had to make his way through.
Just how long would a formation like that have stopped someone else?
Even if you were a genius in Rune Mastery, how could you possibly be familiar with every principle and every language there was? How could you be ready to deal with every quirk and change you could ever run into?
How was any of this possible?
"Impossible…" Her voice trailed off in the winds and she didn't even realize she had spoken. But Sylas did, and as though in response, he pressed his palms together and the Life Seal above him and the Death Seal beneath him completed a quarter turn in opposite directions.
A destruction cadence of life and death pushed and pulled against one another, forcing a maelstrom of chaotic winds that grew and grew until they reached a tempest.
Sylas raised a palm and smacked down again.
BOOM.
The palace shook on its very foundations.
A formation hidden within the mountain shook awake, cracking the ground in specific patterns as it began to glow a fiendish red light.
But when the quaking chaos of Sylas' Seals took shape around it, it crumbled.
The cracks extended from the ground up the body of the palace, waves after waves of destruction pooling together until they reached the very pinnacle. And then… Chi.
Everything fell to silence.
Sylas stepped forward and fell from Gogo's head, landing on the ground with a soft push of air as though he hadn't just fallen from the clouds themselves. But then again… this entire palace was already within them.
He walked forward toward large double doors formed of wood so thick they were probably three times as dense as he was tall. But as thick as they were, they were even more exaggeratedly tall. It felt like he was staring at a mountain rather than a set of doors.
It loomed over him, menacing, imposing, seemingly with every intention of making him look and feel small.
But to Sylas… it was just another door.
He raised his palm and pushed it out.
BANG.
Hurricane force winds spun outward and a violent upswell threatened to throw him off his feet.
He stood tall and strong, his Will and telekinesis protecting the Duchess from being blown back herself.
A peculiar feeling welled up in the Duchess' chest. She didn't know why, but the small action made her shift a bit. Then she frowned to herself. What was wrong with her? And why was she still on this man's back?
She made a move to get off, only to find that she was strongly strapped in.
Sylas glanced over his shoulder and with a move of his intention, she was released.
The Duchess patted down her dress, feeling that she was very much improperly dressed for all of this. She had worn a flowing red gown and a bright white shawl. It looked more like she was planning on going to a ball than a battle.
But when she looked at Sylas and finally registered what he was wearing, her lip couldn't help but twitch as well.
She could be forgiven because she had never planned on entering the Split Realm in the first place. But what was Sylas' excuse?
He knew that he was coming here. So why was he wearing clothes that seemed like he was trying to match her perfectly?
Black pants and belt, and a crimson red shirt that pulled against his shoulders and wide back. He rolled up his sleeves to reveal a sleek gold watch on his left wrist, a chain of the same precious metal hanging around his neck.
The Duchess had never seen this style of clothing before, but she subconsciously found herself feeling that it looked quite good on him before she shook her head. What was she thinking?
Gogo landed nearby, looking from the Duchess to Sylas with an amused look in his large, golden eyes.
The Duchess started, the aura of the creature catching her off guard. She was very sensitive to blood, and she was absolutely certain of what she was feeling.
This was the pressure of a God's blood. How had Sylas taken control of a God Beast? What was happening here?
Who was this husband of hers? When had she even married this man? Was he lying to her? Or was he telling the truth? What the hell did he mean she was pregnant with his child?!
"Stay behind me." Sylas said calmly. "Your strength has increased, but your combat effectiveness is poor. You can at most beat something with half your current raw power assuming they have a little experience."
The Duchess frowned. "I am not so incompetent."
"Yes. You are." Sylas said coldly.
The Duchess froze and then lowered her head.
"Let's go."
For some reason, the palace was eerily quiet. It shouldn't have been this quiet, something was definitely lurking or waiting for them. The question was… what?
