Chapter 2237: Talk

Chapter 2237: Talk

When Sylas appeared again, he found himself in a cube-shaped room of gold. But, it was surprisingly not difficult to stare ahead. It wasn't too bright, but instead a soft gold that was easy on the eyes.

Across from him, Vaelith appeared soon afterward and Sylas found himself a bit confused about what was happening. He could tell that this was the tower's doing, but for what purpose?

If it was angry with him for abandoning its exam, that could be a potential answer. But then why did it bring Vaelith along? Was it for the sake of forcing him to complete the exam against her?

If that was the case, Sylas could only shake his head. He was stubborn, but if the tower was really so enamored with him, then he would just do it and get it over with. He didn't have the time to fight back and forth with some ancient, automatic systems.

From what he could tell, if the tower had a spirit, it was long dormant. It was working on nothing but instinct right now. However…

Something about the realization that suddenly shone in Vaelith's eyes caught his attention. This was the most reaction she had shown from the moment she appeared.

She met Sylas' gaze and a light smile tugged at her lip.

"You don't like it when I speak too much, right?" she said.

Sylas didn't reply, but she seemed unperturbed. She, oddly enough, was a lot like him. She marched to the beat of her own drum, and the opinions of others didn't move her very much unless they insulted her.

"This is an inheritance realm. It is almost unheard of for two people to appear in a single one. This can only happen if the originator feels like two Wills have caught their attention, or if the tower forces it to happen.

"The Will of an Inheritance of this level should still be dormant. In fact, I placed the odds of this Inheritance appearing at less than 5% this time because the tower hasn't had the energy to produce one this strong in a very long time.

"I did all I could to force it to appear by tuning my own Will to it, but there was no way I could be sure. So… maybe I should be thanking you for forcing the tower's hand.

"I do not understand why it is that you have caught its attention so much when I exist, but I can only conclude that it is not for any reason related to your skill.

"Your Rune Mastery comprehension is shallow. Your Rune-related abilities are weak. Your Will is powerful but your control is pitiful. You have Pride, but it is misdirected, especially when it is directed at me.

"In which case, the only reason that you could possibly have gained so much favor is because you have stumbled onto a Creation of Key."

Vaelith's head tilted to a side as though she didn't need Sylas to confirm. She never even made an attempt to make it seem like she was asking in the first place, she already knew that she was right.

"I am curious about how you got your hands on such a thing. A Creation of Key hasn't appeared in a very long time, and most that do exist are tightly controlled by old ancients long past their prime who still think themselves to have a chance at advancing.

"But even if I do ask you, you will not answer. So I won't bother. I am also not too interested in your Creation of Key as it has already brought me exactly what I want.

"This inheritance will be mine." She said simply. "And I will speak as much as I like while taking it from you."

In the skies above the City of Runes, a massive, warped cube of frames and fractals appeared high in the skies. It was so large it cast a shadow over everything, swallowing up the skies and crushing the other inheritances the Rune Masters down below were hoping to take for themselves.

But at the moment, they couldn't be bothered to care.

That was because… the cube was transparent.

Within, a man faced off against a woman. They didn't recognize who the man was, but the woman…

Her name had rung free and loud for so very long, not just for her beauty, but her strength. She was such a recluse, though, that she was far too rarely seen.

A genius amongst geniuses, a Rune Master beyond Rune Masters.

It was said that of the top 10 of the C-tier Rune Master youths, she was the only one with a guarantee of reaching C-tier Rune Creation. In fact, many felt that it was already just a matter of time.

That said… while most didn't recognize the man, a few did… some that had happened to see another Rune Duel from a much earlier time in the day.

Heaven Creator Medei's eyes widened. Even now, he was still planning on how he could get his revenge against Sylas for humiliating him. But he didn't expect that things would go about like this.

An Inheritance Duel… just how long had it been since something like this happened?

And the only way something like this could ever be triggered was if the tower or the legacy's creator couldn't decide who to give the inheritance to… How could that be possible? How could Sylas possibly be on the same level as Vaelith?

And then Vaelith began to speak. The more she spoke, the wider their eyes became.

And when the words Creation of Key descended, it was like the world had been set alight.

They looked at Sylas with a completely different look in their eyes, their shock weighing heavily.

At the same time, Medei sighed a breath of relief.

'So the tower doesn't believe Sylas is on the same level as Vaelith… it wants the Creation of Key.'

It seemed that he wouldn't have to do anything to get revenge personally against Sylas after all.
