Chapter 2240: Little

Chapter 2240: Little

Vaelith wiped sweat from her brows, exhaling a breath as she looked at her work. She had done better than she thought she would, right around 97.8% accuracy. She was just shy of 98%. If her Will wasn't so limited, she was sure she could add almost 2% more to that, but that was something that could only come in time.

There was a reason the older you were, the stronger your Will tended to be. It was the one thing the impotent system didn't have a good, systematic method of helping people to increase. Which was both why it rewarded so heavily for Will breakthroughs, and also why the Skai Heaven was the weakest of them all.

However… while the Skai Heaven was the weakest overall, when a true expert of Will managed to appear… They were rarely touched.

Vaelith looked up to see the state of everything and her eyes narrowed when she saw Sylas had long finished. In fact, he only just now opened his eyes as though he had been waiting a while for her to finish as well.

"97.8%." The Rune Goddess remarked calmly.

Vaelith smiled and nodded, but her smile didn't last very long.

"You have lost."

Vaelith's eyes widened. Her head snapped toward Sylas, but he wasn't looking at her. In fact, he almost looked a little impatient as he waited for the Rune Goddess to start the next challenge.

Sylas hadn't even heard the Rune Goddess call out his own percentage in the first place, he had tuned out the entire world. Nothing but his own thoughts mattered, and he knew that he had already won.

"What was his percentage?" Vaelith asked slowly.

"99.2%." The woman said calmly.

Vaelith's expression didn't shift or change despite hearing this.

"Was it because of his superior Will?"

There was a flicker in the woman's eyes as though she didn't know how to answer this. After a moment, she waved a hand.

It seemed that they were fond of wasting Sylas' time. Either that or the woman was just very fond of Vaelith… maybe both.

Sylas' canvas spun for Vaelith to see. At first, she didn't understand why this would be an answer to her question. She just wanted to know if Sylas had managed to do this because his stamina was superior to her own or if there was another reason.

She didn't want to be a sore loser and simply assume. Although she had questions about why Sylas' Will was so powerful, the raw truth was that it was superior to hers.

The world wasn't meant to be a fair place. As lofty as her own starting position was, who was she to speak about unfairness in the first place?

But then her eyes widened as she came to a realization.

Sylas… had painted the canvas with his Will. It wasn't a perfect 100% representation of the original because the bastard was so arrogant he felt the mountains weren't exhibiting the majesty they should. He felt the grass should be more lush, and the rivers more raging.

He had changed the image to his preferences. Otherwise…

'It would be 100%.'

Vaelith looked at Sylas once again. He still didn't seem to be looking at her at all, but all she could see was him. He had become so large and looming that it was simply suffocating.

"I've lost." She said slowly.

The Rune Goddess seemed shaken, but after a while, she nodded.

"He is more suited to this inheritance than I am, but can we still have the final two battles?" she asked.

"Of course."

Sylas frowned. When had he agreed to this?

Vaelith could see that Sylas was upset, but she smiled lightly.

"I have never taken an interest in a man before, and while you have no interest in me, I think you should still be kinder to the fairer sex. If a lady wants to spend time with you, you should be more agreeable."

"I have a wife." Sylas said indifferently.

"And what worthy man doesn't have more than one?"

"You would have to first be qualified."

Surprisingly, Vaelith still didn't seem upset. "That is also very true. Begin the second test, please."

Heaven Creator Medei reflected he had made peace with what he was seeing. There had been some faint hope in the back of his mind that even though Sylas had finished much faster, that his final product might not be as good as Vaelith's.

That all went downhill the instant the Rune Goddess spoke out the words.

But listening to Vaelith essentially flirt with a man now, not a single one of them knew how to react.

Everyone knew how protective the Thryskai were of their bloodlines. If the ancestors of the Thryskai heard this, let alone locking Vaelith up, they'd probably raze Sylas' entire family to the ground.

Vaelith rarely spoke if ever at all, but she was famous across the Skai Heaven. No one ever thought she would say such teasing words.

And no one could have ever thought that a man would reply to her the way Sylas would.

In their own corners of the tower, the rest of the top ten watched this scene. But none were more furious than the second and third rankers.

Sylas had defeated them like they were an afterthought, and their fury burned as a result of it.

Surprisingly, the second was no Thryskai. He was the very same man with pink hair and eyes… a man with wings on the back of his ankles… He was amongst the very small pool of people they may have allowed Vaelith to marry outside of true Thryskai. The wings on the back of his feet were enough proof of exactly this.

Thinking of Sylas' dismissive, uncaring attitude, his fury reached a new fever pitch.

"Sylas Grimblade."

This was a humiliation that would be repaid ten times over.

That Creation of Key should be with a worthy family.

What the hell were the "Grimblades".

It was the third ranked, ironically enough, that very much recognized this last name.

"Elara Grimblade. Sylas Grimblade. What is the relation…"

A murderous air radiated from him.

And how could it not?

His little brother had been completely humiliated by this Elara Grimblade.
