Chapter 2245: Ancestor of Hell
Chapter 2245: Ancestor of Hell
The air seemed to grow chilly, but whether it was Oura or Tera, neither of them transferred or said a word. But what was clear to even the weakest of laymen was that the situation had changed completely.
To Sylas, they were convenient for one matter here. Since he wasn't able to kill, he wouldn't be able to deal with Kaeloth. But he felt that he had taught the latter enough of a lesson, one that he would remember.
For people like him, the humiliation was enough.
As for everything else, that would just have to be handled in due time.
Sylas' gaze flashed and the echo of a shattering barrier formed around Kaeloth.

A feeling of a suffocating violation buried itself into Kaeloth's bone. It ripped into him, tearing and tearing until it got down to its very root where he just barely managed to protect something of himself.
In the end, he coughed and took a heavy step back, his eyes both shocked and wide.
Sylas had…
No, he could hardly believe it.
As for Sylas, he didn't care about seeing Kaeloth's stats or even his level. The only thing he wanted was to see his last name.
Now he knew exactly who his enemy was.
Oura and Tera frowned. This situation was already spiraling out of their control. Was it the Creation of Key that told Sylas they weren't meant to be here?
The Creation Worlds had been kept separate ever since the war that destroyed the Madness System. The Creation Tower was very sensitive and it chose to keep things that way for the sake of its own safety. But because it was in such a vulnerable position, it was also more vulnerable to being taken advantage of.
Something like pretending to be A-tier Rune Creators only worked because of this, as did crossing the barrier.
But Sylas… shouldn't know this. Not with his stature.
It was also impossible that he came from another Heaven too. The Creation of Keys were under more scrutiny because they were the secret to making the tower whole again.
As such, when they were involved, the tower would be paying more attention than usual, so ironically enough, though Creation of Keys gave you more autonomy, they added some restrictions as well.
So… where the hell had Sylas come from?
What they couldn't have possibly guessed was that Sylas was even more of a top priority than they imagined.
Sylas didn't just have a normal Creation of Key. He had a perfect Creation of Key.
This wasn't a ranking, but instead a measure of the state of the key. Over the years, especially with the tower weakening, the various Creation of Keys across the universe had degraded and essentially become ancient relics.
But because Sylas had gotten his from the past and brought it into the future with him… It had not only never been used by anyone other than him, its condition was also pristine.
Just one Creation of Key from Sylas was probably worth all the remaining Creation of Keys in the universe combined right now.
That was all to say that…
The Creation Tower would rather burn everyone else to the ground instead of letting any harm come to Sylas.
Well, harm that meant crippling or true death, anyway. The hole in Sylas' gut painted a different sort of picture of how far the tower was willing to allow things to go.
The thing was that the tower was clever as well. It knew that it was in a weak position, and it knew that if the true value of Sylas' Creation of Key was revealed, there would be yet another change to the situation.
As such, it could make its favoritism too blatant until it recovered first.
But had Oura and Tera known this… they would have also known exactly why Shah's corpse vanished.
BOOM.
The silence in the city square was heavy until the Creation Tower erupted with a blinding light.
A phenomenon played out in the skies, a mountain of black looming tall and heavy.
The eyes of Old Man Tera, especially, shook. And then, slowly, his body began to fade away.
"Impossible…" Tera said. But when he gazed down at himself, he knew that his senses weren't wrong.
The Skai Heaven had picked an Ancestor of Hell.
But that was impossible. To become an Ancestor of Hell on the Demi-God Plane you had to be an A-tier Hell Creator. But the aura radiating out here wasn't that of the A-tier at all. In fact… "The F-tier…?"
Tera was speechless. Why was the tower bending so many rules today?
It was the last thought he could have before he was sent back to his Heaven. With the role of Ancestor of Hell officially filled, the role he was pretending to be was, of course, vacated. In that case, his failsafe triggered and he was instantly brought back before the tower could smite him.
Vaelith, who was watching on the ground, had been staring at Sylas the entire time. So… she was the first to notice him smile.
She couldn't fathom what she was seeing. In her long life, she couldn't remember ever having been truly caught off guard more than she was right this moment. It felt like she was watching the world end.
Since when… was this man capable of smiling?
Sylas was of course smiling because he recognized his grandfather's aura. By now, too many coincidences were adding up. He could feel that the tower was showing him quite a bit of favoritism.
From the moment he attempted to enter, it had made it far easier than it should have been to hide his identity. Then it allowed him to take his grandfather into the tower with him despite Magnus' age. Then it basically forced him to pass its exam when he tried to give up on it. And now it was giving his grandfather such a prestigious title despite Magnus only being an F-tier Rune Creator.
However… even the tower had certain rules it could not break. Meaning…
In order for Magnus to become the Ancestor of Hell of the Skai Heaven, his Rune Path had to be acknowledged by the tower.
And today, for the first time, the Grimblade name would be heard from all across the Demi-God Plane.
Every Rune Master, especially those of the Hell Path, were forced to hear it.
