Chapter 2265: Why Is It?

Chapter 2265: Why Is It?

Sylas' eyes narrowed when he heard the knock on his door. Logically speaking, let alone knocking, no one should even be able to find his room.

The way this hotel was set up was quite fascinating. It was curious. While those on the outside were so open with their sexuality, those on the inside were so much more… Reserved.

The rooms were practically hovering in their own separate laws of spacetime. The only way to make it here was for Sylas to let them to the door or for some sort of admin to be involved.

He hadn't ordered anything and there was no casual room service in a place like this. They weren't mortals any longer, and the usual services didn't work the way one would be used to on Earth.

It just wasn't quite… adding up.

Still, Sylas stood.

His senses shouldn't have been able to peek through the door, but the ways spacetime limited others no longer applied to him. He found a familiar woman standing there and he paused for a moment.

She stood there patiently, not showing any signs of taking another knock attempt, but she also didn't show any signs of leaving either. It looked like if he planned to make her wait an hour, she would wait an hour. If it was a month, she'd wait a month.

Sylas opened the door.

Cheri smiled. "I didn't expect you to open so quickly. I apologize for the intrusion. Might I ask what your rank in the Grimblade Clan is?"

Honestly, when she asked this question, Cheri expected one of a few responses. It would either be shock or confusion, but there were an endless number of branching paths within these two routes.

Some people used confusion as a defense mechanism, but they were all too easy to read. Asking questions like "what?" or "what did you say?" was too obvious a time wasting and buying measure that only the worst of amateurs would use.

Some people were quite terrible at hiding their shock, so they might just slip up completely. This was especially so when Cheri didn't have a lead up to any of her questions and just outright said what was on her mind.

What she didn't expect was the deadpan look Sylas gazed at her with. His pupils didn't change, his body remained relaxed, his expression was as deadpan as deadpan could be.

It was like he hadn't heard her at all, but she was 100% sure that she had.

Suddenly, she started second guessing herself. Was he not a Grimblade? And if he wasn't, then who was he?

Sylas suddenly snapped a finger and a black feather appeared.

"Do you recognize this?" he asked.

Cheri blinked, not understanding or even expecting the shift in topic. She looked at the feather and frowned.

Just when she was about to shake her head "no," her eyes widened.

"Impossible."

"Interesting." Sylas said, putting the black feather away.

Cheri's breath caught in her throat as Sylas' palm wrapped around it. She was pulled in before she could even resist.

No… she couldn't resist in the first place. The gap between the two of them felt so unfathomably wide she didn't even know how to cross it.

But she didn't understand how. Was Sylas an A-tier? An S-tier, maybe?

She couldn't sense any of his aura at all.

Sylas tossed Cheri into the room and she sprawled across the bed. For a moment, she thought the unthinkable was about to happen and a surprising amount of tears welled up in her eyes for someone part of such a raunchy pair of guilds.

But she had clearly overthought things. Sylas just closed the door and returned to his seat.

In her panic, Cheri had lost the reins on the usual control she had on her clothes. Usually, her short robes perfectly covered her breasts and what lay between her legs. Even if she got into battles, no one had ever caught sight of the alluring sights she tempted them with.

The gap between her and Sylas' Wills were simply too crushing. She couldn't even react before hers faltered and her telekinesis and Runes faltered.

Her breasts spilled out of her robes, the awkward angles of her legs revealing far too much below. A well trimmed line of hair leading to a pair of plump lips that reflected a ray of sunlight coming from an artificial star behind the curtain.

She was late to cover herself. It wasn't until Sylas had been sitting on a couch across from the enormous bed that she realized he wasn't actually going to do anything. Only then did she panic and hurry to cover herself.

However, her rapid breathing showed little sign of recovering.

She sat up on the bed, her thighs and knees pressed together, her feet sprawled out to the side. She had completely lost the air of languid confidence she had in the reception area, and a part of her told her that… Sylas had done it on purpose.

"… What do you want from me?" Cheri asked softly.

"Now that you've regained your composure, there's no need for you to continue the act." Sylas said coldly. "I know that there's only one way for you to get here, which also means that you're not as helpless as you seem."

Cheri could have only used admin credentials to make it here. While any other woman would be trapped here at Sylas' whims, she could definitely alert someone if she had to.

The fragile weakness in Cheri's eyes slowly faded and her own gaze became a lot more pragmatic.

"You still haven't answered my question." Cheri said.

"Which one?"

Cheri's head tilted to the side. "The second. I think your actions have already answered the first, Sylas Grimblade."

"Mm." Sylas was indifferent to it. "What I want from you depends on what the situation is. Because as it seems right now, you have information I really want.

"For example, why is it that you recognize my woman's feather?"
