Chapter 457: Planar Convergence Gate

Chapter 457: Planar Convergence Gate

[Uses Left: 3/3]

She didn’t know what Sylas was thinking, wanting to deploy something like this here. Plus, from her understanding, it wasn’t so simple to circumvent the protections of a System City.

The military wasn’t the only thing protecting it. There were large numbers of formations and nets of Runes that could suppress the activation of such a thing.

Though this Planar Convergence Gate was powerful, it was more likely than not that it would be detected, suppressed, and then ultimately fail.

That was especially so considering the fact that they were doing this in the heart of the most protected region.

Still, she had no choice but to follow Sylas’ orders at this point.

She pulled out ten Aether Stones, working quickly. There would definitely be a great fallout upon failure. There was a reason that Sylas was making her do this rather than doing it himself.

The Planar Convergence Gate didn’t seem like a gate at all. Instead, it looked a lot like the Beast Transmutation Skin, just a large parchment of leather etched with ancient, complex carvings.

She placed the Aether Stones in their proper locations and that was when it changed.

The Aether raced through the etchings like cars surging through a complex terrain and then converged at the center.

The illusion of a starry gate took shape and that was when the commotion began.

Rolland sensed it at the first instant, and that was the moment he stood from his chair, his head snapping toward their direction.

However, by this point, the process couldn’t be stopped. Space quaked and it seemed like it was about to tear in two.

But that was when the Runes that protected the System City activated. Alarms blared and a domain of starry Aether covered the city in a Dome that blocked out the night sky and made it so bright one might almost mistake it for day.

Nosphaleen’s heart skipped a beat. The reaction was even fiercer than she thought. She looked off toward where she thought Sylas was hiding, but he wasn’t making a move. Was he really going to sacrifice her like this?

She had seen Sylas’ cruel nature, and in many ways, she understood it. As well as Sylas had hidden it, she had already noticed that his control over her wasn’t as absolute as it should have been between a master and beast. Whatever he had done to take her out had already been reversed.

But it seemed that she hadn’t been able to convince him to trust her in these days.

Nosphaleen sighed as the pattern of converging Aether shattered beneath the might of the System City.

[Uses Left: 2/3]

Nosphaleen stumbled backward, the spiraling rage of Aether knocking her off balance.

“Again.”

The voice came before she could even stabilize herself properly. When she heard them, she understood why Sylas had handed her 20 Aether Stones and not 10. He had always planned to do this twice.

But she didn’t understand what he would gain out of it.

This time, though, Sylas came out of the shadows, striding over as the commotion took hold of the entire city. The dome above was already fading away, but he could feel as though the system’s eyes were converging over here.

However, there was a clear lag in the system’s actions…

Favoritism.

He knew what it was without much thought. And now that he was more confident in taking action, he urged Nosphaleen.

“Hurry up.”

The cold glint in Sylas’ eyes made her heart skip a beat. The Mesmeryx part of her was especially strangled, as though she was gazing toward her overlord.

She realized whether she was considered a beast of Sylas or not…

He was her bane.

Without a choice, Nosphaleen could only hurry to set it up again.

By this point, Sylas was only 20 or so meters away as the Planar Convergence Gate began to form up.

This time, the System City reacted even faster because its formations had yet to fade in the first place. However… there was another important thing to consider this time.

Sylas was here.

He had used the first opportunity to observe and see if there was something that he could do. Quite quickly, he realized that he would be able to take action this time.

As expected, the System City’s level was dimmed and restrained so that it would be around the general level of Earth as a whole. This wasn’t just in the level of its fighters, but also in the level of its formations.

Thanks to this, Rune Soul was more than enough for Sylas to get a general feel of what was happening. And… more than enough for him to protect the Planar Convergence Gate for just long enough…

His telekinesis flared and Enchanted Scholar churned.

His Ice-Poison formed needles under the control of Winter’s Edge and his Slow Runes pierced into the converging Runes of the System City.

PA. PA. PA.

Ice popped and crackled in the air.

Sylas’ eyes glowed brighter and brighter as the formations of the System City were unceremoniously poisoned one after another. Blue, cancerous runes spread like veins formed into a net across the skies.

Nosphaleen hardly had the time to understand what was happening when her brows shot up.

‘Success!’

BOOM!

The starry gate solidified, slamming into the marbled ground and entrenching itself.

A swirling portal appeared within it and a large amount of Aether converged.

“Retreat for now,” Sylas said calmly.

He was still waiting for something and he believed that the other foot would drop quite quickly.

And that it did.
