Chapter 647: Kill

Chapter 647: Kill

The powerful strokes of the Basilisk King's body sent tiles ripping out of the ground and stairs collapsing. However, its powerful Constitution caused these hard stones to deflect from its scales and rebound against the walls.

Sylas could hear the shouts of men and women down below, and soon he saw where the origin

was.

It looked like a scene directly out of a horror movie.

Ahead, there was once again a large platform that looked almost identical to the one that was found in his city. But the difference was that there was none of the gaudiness. In its stead, there were piles of flesh and rivers of blood.

This wasn't a description exaggerated for effect. A foul stench filled the air, bones formed Runes that lined the platform, and the pathways that led up to the marble stone were formed by flesh and organs.

In the middle of the marble stone platform, three Great Priests were locked in fierce concentration as they carved up a trio of corpses before them. All of the Great Priests around them seemed to be panicking, having already learned of the carnage happening above them. Sylas laid eyes on this scene with an air of indifference. Even if these had been real people, he doubted that he would care very much... let alone the fact that this was just an echo of history. But that didn't mean that these people didn't disgust him.

For as long as he could remember, Sylas didn't like to be controlled. It was ironic because he was also a stickler for rules at the same time. But due to his boredom with the way of the world, following these rules was actually his own way of ignoring them.

He didn't strive to be as great as he could be because it was of no interest to him.

These men and women here, though... embodied everything he hated.

Using the trust they garnered from the people they ruled over from the shadows, preying on their weaknesses and fears before taking advantage of them.

They were the very puppeteers of society that Sylas hadn't wanted to play into the hands of.

Sylas looked down on the three priests from on high. The golden slits of his Beast Totem and the shimmering irises of the Basilisk King seemed to stack on top of one another, one below and the other above.

"Kill them." Sylas said coldly.

BANG!

The Basilisk King's tail slapped down and it shot forward.

<King's Shift> activated and it seamlessly used the skill on itself, allowing it to almost instantly reach its peak Speed.

The Great Priests were taken aback with its Speed, not expecting a creature so large to be so fast. But they were right... the Basilisk King's weakest stats were its Speed and Dexterity.

But that didn't matter if it had overwhelming power.

The Basilisk King directly rolled over three Priests before they could even get out of the way, using its heavy body weight to crush them.

Attacks suddenly rained down from all sides, particularly aiming for Sylas. However, <King's Shield> was deployed in an instant. Fueled with Voice of a King, it seemed to weaken attacks before they even reached it.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The shield suffered three powerful attacks in a row, each one having easily over 1000 Attack each. In fact, from Sylas' estimation, they were approaching 1500.

And yet...

The shield only rippled.

4500 Attack was absorbed as though it was worthless.

The Basilisk King slapped out with its tail. The Priests tried to dodge, only for it to cast <King's Shift> again.

The Basilisk King's tail abruptly shifted in the air, going from a downward motion to a sweeping motion that shattered the body of a target into a rain of gore and blood. Their defenses couldn't even remotely hold up against over 3000 Strength.

The carnage was one-sided and unbridled. Under Sylas' direction, every movement the Basilisk King made was perfectly and flawlessly executed, unmoved by the actions of the experts around it.

By this point, Alex and Cole had finally caught up, only to watch on in shock and even a small hint of horror.

Since when did Sylas have such a powerful card? And why hadn't he used it in their last battle? Could he have been holding back?

The two looked toward one another as they seemed to think of an even scarier possibility...

What if Sylas hadn't had this card when they last fought... and only recently gained it...?

In that case...

Just how fast did this man improve?

...

The Basilisk King bore down on the final three Great Priests. They were in a protected formation, beads of sweat falling down on their brows as they brought out one corpse after another from their spatial devices to carve up and throw away in a very specific pattern.

BANG!

The attack the Basilisk King unleashed was repelled in a cascade of sparks. Sylas could even tell that his contract had even somewhat injured itself on that attack.

"Hold." Sylas said before the Basilisk King could attack again.

He looked down at the sphere of protection again. It didn't take him long at all to find what he

was looking for.

"There."

A projected, vivid image replayed in the mind of the Basilisk King. Its yellow eyes flashed as its tail flicked outward.

In a shockingly controlled motion, it focused all of its power on a single point.

BANG!

The three Great Priests didn't even have the time to react before their shield was shattered to

pieces.

<King's Bind>.

Sylas reached out a hand as the Basilisk King's tail swung out.

Two Great Priests were shattered into a rain of blood as the third had his neck sucked into

Sylas' palm. With <King's Bind> activated, he couldn't even resist Sylas' telekinesis. The priest dangled from Sylas' hand, his face turning purple as his airways were being

suffocated.
