Chapter 3110: An Emergency

"Not exactly. It’s just that instructors with demigod-level strength have never taught demigod-level courses before. As for the specific reason, I’m not too sure either."

"I see..." Fang Heng thought for a moment and said, "Forget it, help me make a reservation for other academic courses."

Fang Heng couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

Based on his recent cultivation, both Occult and Alchemy could significantly increase his cultivation speed.

He had been planning to focus on these two disciplines, aiming to max them out first.

He wanted to raise them both to God-level first to improve efficiency, then gradually catch up on the other disciplines.

He didn’t expect to hit a bottleneck at just the demigod-level.

It was rather strange.

Why did all academic instructors stop teaching at the demigod-level?

Fang Heng considered finding an opportunity to ask Nasir about it.

"Understood, Mr. Fang Heng. I’ll make the arrangements," An Qian said, slightly relieved that Fang Heng didn’t insist. She then continued, "Also, Mr. Fang Heng, I just received a notification. You have an urgent guardian mission. The Noel Clan needs you to head immediately to the residence of the Lanyue Clan."

"You’ve been selected as a member of the escort warrior team for a protection mission. You’ll be following the escort team and acting under the instructions of the leading elder. I’ll come pick you up tomorrow morning and bring you to the mission assembly point. Will that be alright?"

Fang Heng felt a stir in his heart.

A job had come up.

As a warrior of the Noel Clan, in addition to enjoying various daily benefits, there was also one important rule: he must accept emergency special missions when called upon.

Like the spawns, the assassination mission yesterday was probably also issued by the spawns who recruited warriors.

Fang Heng nodded lightly and said, "Alright, I understand."

...

The next day, Fang Heng arrived at the gathering point under An Qian’s guidance.

It was a ship docked in the world’s harbor district.

Fang Heng spotted a familiar figure in the distance and waved, "Nasir!"

Nasir happened to have taken on the same mission and was chatting with a few other warriors on the team.

"Brother Fang Heng, you’re here. I was the one who recommended you to the elder for this mission," Nasir said warmly, greeting him and giving him a reassuring look.

"First time on this kind of mission, huh? Don’t worry, it’s fine. Just stick with me. I’ve read the mission description. The mission’s almost risk-free. We’re just here to show presence and provide deterrence. There’s a high chance we won’t actually need to take action."

"But I think the mission duration will be pretty long—maybe more than half a month."

Fang Heng found it a bit odd after hearing that.

Why did he recommend him for this mission?

Before he could ask, Mu Shunan walked over upon seeing the two of them.

"Fang Heng, you came too. How’s your Occult cultivation lately? I assume it hasn’t broken through yet?"

"Not yet."

Mu Shunan visibly let out a breath of relief.

If he had broken through again, he’d probably be close to touching the demigod-level threshold, right?

This kid was terrifyingly talented for his age!

After a few exchanges, the group turned the conversation back to the mission.

Mu Shunan asked, "What exactly is this mission? It seems pretty sudden?"

"It’s related to the Lanyue Clan. I was involved in earlier parts of the mission. Their star system recently discovered a precious metal that the Noel Clan needs. The Noel Clan obtained mining rights and is worried the Lanyue Clan might resist resource collection, so we’re here to oversee the process and escort the mining operation."

"Just think of it as a vacation. The mission’s not hard at all," Nasir said with a shrug. He glanced at Fang Heng and continued, "The main reason I recommended you was because of your cultivation."

"Hmm?" Fang Heng frowned. "It has something to do with cultivation?"

"Yeah. The Lanyue Clan has always been experts in Alchemy, though their inheritance has broken off in recent generations. I’ve wanted to visit them for a long time. During my last trip there, I discovered something interesting."

While speaking, Nasir subtly gave Fang Heng a look.

Fang Heng immediately understood.

So there was more to this. Nasir couldn’t speak openly in front of everyone.

"I see. Then we’ll definitely have to take a good look together."

"Don’t get your hopes up too much—it might not be useful. Just treat it as trying your luck. I’ll explain more to you later."

"Alright."

"All warriors, please gather. I’m Captain Hoffman."

As they were talking, the Noel Clan’s ship captain, Hoffman, arrived at the main cabin accompanied by several guards.

Hoffman scanned the group, his gaze lingering briefly on Fang Heng before nodding and saying, "Thank you all. The mission objective has already been deployed ahead of schedule, and everyone here has seen the briefing. This mission has a low difficulty level. The target star system is a bit far from the Seven Realms Martial Capital. The estimated transition time is 1 hour and 20 minutes. Rooms have been prepared for everyone aboard. If you’re ready, we’ll begin the transition in ten minutes."

Fang Heng checked and saw that there were only seven warriors participating in the mission this time.

Coincidentally, both Nasir and Mu Shunan were old acquaintances.

The remaining warriors were mostly familiar faces as well, mostly mid-tier and elementary warriors.

It seemed the mission really wasn’t difficult.

Nasir waved his hand. "Let’s go rest. Spatial transmission is really uncomfortable. We’ll meet again after we land."

Spatial transmission was indeed unpleasant. The warriors all returned to their rooms to rest.

...

Two hours later, after the ship completed its transition and landed.

The captain led the warriors to meet the high-ranking members of the Lanyue Clan.

The Lanyue Clan seemed fairly cooperative.

Next, the Noel Clan would carry out the mining operation in this region.

The warriors all stepped out onto the deck to observe the world.

The Lanyue Clan’s world had clusters of blue clouds floating in the sky, and the air was fresh. The ground was covered with vast patches of tubular green plants.

"Ah, not a bad place," Nasir said, taking in a breath of fresh air. He glanced at Fang Heng and asked, "Right, little brother Fang Heng?"

Fang Heng observed the environment around him and began to think.

The spawns had installed Black Fog detection prisms in the Seven Realms Martial Capital, but they hadn’t set up any in this world. Even if the Black Fog spread here, no one would notice.

Back in the Seven Realms Martial Capital, whenever he used Abe Akaya’s summoning magic array or activated special abilities to enter or leave the game, there had been noticeable lag.

Fang Heng suspected that the spawns had set up certain devices to interfere with the functioning of game abilities.

Now that he was outside their control zone, he could try and see whether those abilities would still be affected here.
