"Found it. The related books are on the third floor, southeast corner."

Adam heard the voice of the Shadow God and immediately changed direction, heading to the third floor of the library.

Celia felt a headache coming on.

Reading books?

What kind of hobby was that?

Before the mission, Instructor Bruno had told her to observe Adam’s behavior. If she discovered any anomalous actions, she was to report them immediately.

So... was reading considered an anomaly?

Soon, Celia saw Adam return with a thick stack of books in his arms. He placed them on the table, then picked one up and began flipping through it quickly.

Celia felt helpless and sat down across from him.

After waiting for half an hour, Celia watched Adam flip to the third book and finally couldn’t hold back anymore.

Reading books?

Was this guy really an oracle?

Adam noticed Celia’s gaze and nodded, "Thank you for your help. I can manage on my own—you can go do your work."

"I still have cultivation training this afternoon. You can find me at the academy’s combat arena."

Celia felt that the atmosphere in the library was too stifling and didn’t want to waste another second. She stood up, nodded at Adam, and hurried away.

Adam glanced at Celia’s departing figure, then lowered his head again and continued reading.

At the edge of the table, the books in front of him were slowly being turned page by page under the influence of a faint gray mist.

...

"There’s no record of the Netherworld’s origin in the old texts. Most of the world’s chronicles start from the Day of God’s Revelation."

A few hours later, Zane finished flipping through a thick stack of books and was the first to break the silence.

"Based on the information we’ve gathered, it seems the God Clan accidentally discovered this world and found a way to stay here for long periods. So they turned this place into a domain and used the strength of this world’s humans to oversee the Netherworld."

"Hmm. Your analysis matches mine. Before the world’s origin, this world was in a long state of instability. People studied many different disciplines, with astrology, alchemy, elemental science, and summoning being the most prominent."

"But after the Day of God’s Revelation, most of those academic inheritances began to fade. Children with talent in mental strength were brainwashed by the church from young age, trained to become oracles or priests. Other disciplines became only supplementary studies."

Fang Heng said this as he used mental strength to open another book, continuing his telepathic exchange with Zane. "As for the three gods who created this world, judging from their descriptions, they were all likely members of the God Clan."

"These three of the God Clan were probably responsible for managing this world. They appear every week on the Day of Prayer."

Zane curled his lips. "Brother Fang Heng, being discovered by the God Clan is only a matter of time. We’d better start preparing early."

"Indeed. The God Clan has always remained in the Central God Nation, and we’re only one teleportation passage away from them..."

"Found it!"

Adam suddenly shouted.

Realizing his voice was too loud, he quickly lowered it and said softly, "Shadow God, I found the complete map of the Netherworld world."

Fang Heng’s heart stirred.

A full Netherworld map? Even the churches in each city didn’t have one—yet the library did?

Examining the map in Adam’s hand, Fang Heng frowned slightly.

Zane also looked puzzled. "Brother Fang Heng, isn’t the Netherworld supposed to be round?"

Most of the worlds he had encountered were planets.

And planets were usually spherical.

But the Netherworld was not.

From the current map, it had a very irregular shape.

Was the map incomplete?

Or did it mean even the God Clan didn’t have full control over the Netherworld?

At least from this map, the Netherworld was vast beyond measure—the area they had fused with so far wasn’t even 0.01%.

"Hmm."

Fang Heng made a low sound and continued, "From the map, it matches the intelligence we previously obtained. There are three SSS-level temples across the Netherworld. The teleportation temples guarding them are all concentrated in the Central God Nation."

The S-level temples corresponded to Underworld Hunters whose combat power was terrifying. The SSS-level temples were guarded by even stronger modified Netherworld creatures.

"Brother Fang Heng, are you planning to make a trip?" Zane studied the marked points on the map. "Those three temples are right under the God Clan’s noses—it won’t be easy."

"No rush. We still have time," Fang Heng said, then asked, "Any updates on the spiritual world?"

"Yes."

Zane flipped another book and said, "The spiritual world existed before the Day of God’s Revelation. Most likely, it wasn’t created by the God Clan. Look at this book—it says that before the God Clan appeared, people in this world already had rituals that allowed them to enter the spiritual world, and they even tried to capture spirit constructs for battle."

"In the early days, after capturing spirit constructs, people didn’t transform them into soul warrior spirits. Instead, they used summoning and astrology rituals to modify them. Back then, they were called Stellar Souls."

Fang Heng lowered his head, "Soul warrior spirits were an enhanced modification introduced after the God Clan appeared—a stronger version of the Stellar Soul. After the modification, they gained holy-type abilities, which made them more effective against Netherworld creatures."

"Vincent Jackalese."

Adam spread open a book and pointed to a page, "Shadow God, according to this record, he participated in the church’s modification of the soul warrior spirits. He was also once the Grand Mage of the Eastern Empire."

Zane licked his lips, "Then he must have had the method to craft Heroic Spirit Orbs."

"Even so, he should’ve been dead for centuries, right?"

Adam said, "I read about him in textbooks. Although he’s long gone, the Jackriss bloodline continues. I heard that the family patriarch of each generation serves as the honorary president of the Alchemy Society."

The Alchemy Society?

Fang Heng narrowed his eyes with interest.

It was too troublesome to find the method for creating soul warrior spirits from the church directly. If they changed their approach and searched among ordinary people instead, it might be easier—and less likely to attract attention.

"Check for information related to the Alchemy Society."

"Yes, Shadow God."

Adam immediately went to the shelves, took several books, and began flipping through them. After reading a few pages, he suddenly lifted his head and looked toward the entrance of the library.

Celia had arrived.

She was completely speechless.

After finishing a full day of training, she went back to the dorms to look for Adam, only to be told he never returned.

When she came to the library, sure enough, he was still there!

After asking the librarian, she learned that Adam hadn’t left the entire day, reading and researching nonstop.

Celia was puzzled.

Could staying in the library really make someone stronger?
