Chapter 426 426: A Vampire ?

Dominic finally lowered his fist slightly and spoke in the same calm tone he had used earlier, as if he wasn't standing in the middle of a battlefield that had just eaten its own men.

"Little sacrifices," he said almost casually, and his eyes turned to Gabriel as if he were making a point in a conversation rather than committing something unforgivable. "You wanted to overturn my camp in one night, so don't look surprised that I'm willing to pay the price to bury you in one night as well."

Gabriel didn't answer immediately, because he had already understood the ugly part. He understood the message Dominic was giving. Dominic was telling everyone watching that lives didn't matter, only outcomes did, and that if he needed more fuel, he would simply take it.

Anna's jaw tightened behind Gabriel, her conviction still present but her eyes now openly hostile, and even Scarlet shifted her weight, not in fear but in readiness, because whatever came after the circle finished would be the real beginning.

Dominic's arm rose again, this time not pointing at Gabriel but at the blood ring overhead, and his voice carried clearly through the battlefield.

"Since you like taking heads," he said, smiling wider, "then raise your eyes and watch, because this is the part where hope disappears."

The blood circle turned brighter for a moment, not like light, more like fresh blood compared to dried blood, and then the surface rippled as if something was being pushed through from the other side.

The first projectile formed slowly, condensing from the circle into a long drop that thickened into a spear like shape. Then another formed beside it, and another, dozens in seconds, each one hanging for a breath like a cruel promise. Then the blood around those projectiles ignited into a burning red aura that did not behave like normal fire, because the blood didn't evaporate or scatter. It simply burned while remaining whole, as if Dominic's mana was forcing it to stay together through pure control.

For a moment nobody moved, because everyone was staring at the sky, staring at the wide bloody circle that covered the battlefield, staring at the descending points of death waiting for a command, and the fear that had been sitting in their stomachs finally climbed into their throats.

Even those who wanted to fight couldn't deny what their bodies were telling them. What was coming wasn't a duel technique or a simple strike. It was a field execution.

A wide AOE attack!

From Gabriel's side, Seraphina's eyes widened as she stared upward, her lips parting as if the words had forced themselves out against her will. She spoke in a hoarse voice filled with disbelief and dread.

"This blood manipulation… is… is he a vampire?"

Hearing her words, Gabriel fell silent for a brief moment.

It was no secret that vampires had a natural affinity for blood manipulation. However, the skill blood manipulation, though not as powerful as a true vampire's control, was not limited to only vampire races.

Still, Seraphina was an ancient Vampire Queen. If there was anyone who could tell whether someone was a vampire or not, it was definitely her.

"Are you sure of what you're saying?" Gabriel asked.

"I… I don't know, but to control this amount of blood, unless it's an extremely high level skill, this is something only a vampire can usually do," she said uncertainly.

Gabriel didn't speak further, moving his gaze back to the main threat.

It felt like even the battlefield noise had reduced, because everyone's attention was still fixed upward toward the wide bloody circle that had taken the sky for itself.

The soldiers didn't understand classes the way the high ranks did, but they understood one thing clearly. Blood belonged inside the body, not above their heads, and anyone who could move it like this was not normal.

Alice swallowed hard, her throat dry, and forced herself to look away from the ring for one second, only to meet the terrified faces of the eastern camp soldiers who were still alive. To be frank, their expressions looked worse than people facing monsters, because at least monsters didn't pretend you were an ally before eating you.

The reasons everyone was so anxious were varied. Some feared death, some feared pain, and others feared what would happen after. But apart from the fighters who still had comrades locked in combat across the battlefield, the most anxious group was the section of eastern camp officials and refugees trapped in the inner lanes behind the main line.

This was because the blood ring didn't care who held what banner, and Dominic's range already covered most of the open ground and half of the incomplete city inside the eastern camp. Meaning that if the bloodfire started falling deeper, then the wounded, the non combatants, and even the people hiding in buildings would be caught in it.

If that happened, the eastern camp would not just lose a fight. It would lose hundreds of soldiers and civilians, and a camp without people was just empty walls and dead currency in this world.

That realization made IceQueen's fingers clench so hard her nails bit into her skin.

"I need to get out from here… if I'm caught in this I'll definitely lose HP, or worse, lose a level."

IceQueen was really conflicted. She wanted to leave, but at the same time she wanted to watch everything unfold, since it wasn't an everyday occurrence to witness something like this in the game.

While IceQueen was in dilemma, on the other hand Dominic's own henchman had mixed feelings even though he tried not to show it. He understood the value of fear as a weapon, but he also knew what happened when a battlefield got soaked further in blood and the smell carried into the surrounding wilderness.

Monster tides didn't need orders. They only needed direction, and the smell of fresh blood was the easiest direction in the world.

So if this turned into a blood storm that lasted too long, monsters would start drifting closer, and a fight that should have ended in an hour would become a night of constant pressure.
