Chapter 454 454: Testing out the Gym
Both Seraphina and Gabriel didn't say a word for a full minute. Gabriel's mind was still occupied with the northern camp, so he didn't hear Seraphina calling his name.
"Gabriel." Seraphina called for the third time, finally snapping him out of his daze.
"Umu?" Gabriel asked, turning his attention to her.
"Did we just successfully share our progress with each other?" she asked, her eyes widening in shock.
Gabriel's expression cracked slightly. Perhaps it was because of the rewards he hadn't been paying attention to, or maybe it had simply skipped his mind. But indeed, he had been able to share his progress with Seraphina.
"Does this mean we are now compatible?" Seraphina spoke, her tone edged with excitement.
Gabriel frowned and stretched out his hands once again. "Try to show me your current stats. That's the only way to confirm."
Seraphina didn't hesitate. She quickly held onto Gabriel and tried to share her progress. Indeed, it materialized before him, listing her level, attribute points, class, and skills.
"I think it's because of the class advancement," he deduced, going through Seraphina's skills one by one, committing them to memory.
"Yes, that could be the only logical reason," Seraphina nodded in agreement, her tone ecstatic.
"Well, it's a welcome development." Gabriel tried to release his hold on Seraphina, but the vampire queen's grip refused to budge.
It took some effort for him to free his hands. When he did, a brief look of annoyance flashed across Seraphina's eyes. She clicked her tongue and looked away without saying a word.
Gabriel let out a small sigh. He would be lying if he didn't know Seraphina's feelings for him. She had made it obvious from the first day they met. However, Gabriel's heart belonged to someone else.
Was that person still alive? Had she joined the game yet? Did she remember him? It was unknown.
Gabriel prayed that she at least had some recollection of him.
But he seriously doubted it would be the case. Whatever the goddess had done was universal; all memories of his existence should have been wiped from the minds of those who once knew him, including his family.
For some reason, thinking about his family made his heart beat faster. He paused for a moment and wondered if it was really worth it in the long run. Even if he saved the world this time, what use was it if those close to him had no recollection of him?
Yes, he cared about Eathling as a whole, but he wouldn't lie to himself—he placed his loved ones above humanity.
"Valéry…" Gabriel's eyes flashed. "I wonder if she'll use the same game alias this time around as well."
"Who is Valéry?" Seraphina suddenly asked.
"Someone," Gabriel replied, walking out of the bathroom, choosing not to talk more about the matter.
After getting the hint, Seraphina didn't push either.
"Let's go check out this gym and test my strength there."
As Gabriel walked through the wide hallways of Henry Mansion, which now belonged to him, several maids bowed their heads in respect.
The news of Henry and Dominic's deaths had already spread through the camp. People knew there was a new lord, but few expected him to be so young—and, on top of that, so striking.
Merely looking at his godly physique and handsome face, the cheeks of countless maidens turned beet red.
The maids could not control themselves. They kept their heads lowered out of respect, but their eyes followed Gabriel as he walked past. Some stood stiffly. Some pressed their hands together. Others whispered behind their sleeves, trying not to be heard.
"Is that really him?"
"He looks even better up close."
"I heard he killed both of them without hesitation."
"He doesn't even look tired."
"Do you think he already has someone?"
"Stop talking. He might hear you."
"You were the one staring first."
Their voices overlapped in soft gossip. A few of them straightened their uniforms whenever Gabriel's gaze shifted toward them. Others pretended to be busy, even though they were clearly watching him leave.
Seraphina glanced at them once, then looked away with a faint scoff. She already understood what was happening and did not interfere.
Gabriel ignored all of it.
"You." He stopped walking and looked at one of the maids standing closest to the corridor entrance. "Take me to the gym."
The maid froze, clearly startled to be addressed directly.
"Yes, My Lord. Please follow me."
She immediately stepped forward and began guiding the way. Her movements were careful, almost stiff, as if afraid of making a mistake. The other maids watched them leave, their whispering starting again the moment Gabriel turned the corner.
They walked through another hallway. The atmosphere here was quieter, meant for internal staff rather than guests.
They reached a reinforced section of the mansion that clearly differed from the living quarters. The walls were thicker, and the flooring was a hardened material built to handle impact and weight.
The maid stopped in front of a large reinforced door. Unlike the rest of the mansion, this one was built from layered steel with locking bars along the sides.
The maid stepped aside and opened it.
"This is the training facility, My Lord."
Gabriel pushed the door open.
Inside was a massive gym built for awakened individuals. The equipment was far beyond what ordinary people could handle. Thick steel frames supported enormous barbells. The plates were dense, dark, and labeled with numbers exceeding one thousand kilograms. The entire room was reinforced to prevent damage during use.
A man stood near one of the racks, adjusting equipment. He turned when he heard them enter and immediately straightened.
