God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World!

Chapter 511: Rescued [2]

Chapter 511: Rescued [2]

"Scarlet?" Gabriel blurted out as the figure fully came into view.

For a brief moment, he actually had no words. Out of everyone he expected to see after waking up, Scarlet was close to the bottom of that list.

Scarlet closed the door behind her with one hand and walked in calmly. She was dressed simply, but even like that, her posture still carried that authoritative presence. The folded towel in her hand made the scene look almost normal, which only made it stranger.

"You are awake," she said calmly.

Gabriel stared at her for a second longer, then his eyes shifted down and across his body. The armor he wore inside the castle was gone. More importantly, the helmet was also gone.

That made his expression tighten slightly.

If Scarlet had taken off the armor, then she already knew one thing for certain.

He was not Darius Aston.

Scarlet seemed to read that from his face. She placed the towel on the chair and looked at him without much expression.

"You do not need to think too hard about that part," she said. "I already know you are White Phantom."

Gabriel’s eyes flashed sharply. His face barely changed, but his thoughts were in turmoil.

"I knew since your first appearance in the Monkey Paradise dungeon," she added calmly.

That made his fingers tighten slightly over the bedsheet.

He had been careful with that identity. Very careful. Even now, the White Phantom persona was something he used separately from Broken Heaven, and he had never openly revealed it to anyone.

Yet Scarlet was saying she knew from the beginning.

Gabriel kept his face straight with effort and asked quietly, "How?"

Scarlet looked at him for a brief moment before replying, "That is a secret."

She picked up the basin with one hand and carried it back toward the bathroom area inside the room. Her tone did not change at all, almost as if she had just answered something ordinary.

Gabriel watched her go, then looked down at his bandaged body again. He remained seated for a while after that, saying nothing.

Too many thoughts pressed against each other at once. Scarlet knowing his White Phantom identity was already serious enough. The way she found out was even more concerning.

He had not revealed it to anyone.

Not to XMan, Sophie, not even Seraphina.

The only person who knew was Legend Logan, and that too was because he had used the Hellfire Turret, which had been created by him.

Gabriel did not think he was the one who revealed his identity.

That only left one possibility that made sense to him.

It had something to do with her talent.

He still did not fully understand what Scarlet’s talent was, but the more he thought about it, the more likely that answer felt.

"Troublesome," he muttered.

After a while, he stopped trying to chase the answer. There was no point circling around the same question if Scarlet had no intention of telling him. For now, it was enough to know one thing clearly.

Scarlet was not the type to expose him recklessly.

That much he trusted.

She was cold, strict, and far too direct, but she was not someone who played cheap games with secrets like this. As long as the matter stayed between the two of them, then his White Phantom identity was still effectively buried.

But there was yet another pressing concern.

Darius Aston was dead.

Gabriel had killed him with his own foot, crushed his head, and fed the body to Grizzlenaught. No corpse remained, but absence alone could become its own problem. Darius was not some random noble. He was General Aston’s son.

That meant his disappearance would never be treated lightly.

General Aston was one of the kingdom’s strongest weapons. The Adventurer Guild was tied closely to the Valerian Kingdom. Scarlet herself stood in the middle of that connection. If the truth about Darius leaked in the wrong direction, it would not only affect him.

It could reach New Dawn too.

At that moment, the door from the bathroom area opened again.

Scarlet stepped back into the room and placed the basin down by the side table. Gabriel expected questions now. He expected some calm interrogation or at least a warning.

Instead, Scarlet only looked at him once and said, "Rest."

She turned and started toward the door.

Gabriel frowned slightly. "You are not going to ask anything?"

Scarlet paused with her hand near the handle.

"There is no point in asking a wounded man everything at once," she said. "You are in no condition to answer properly, at least not right now."

She opened the door.

"I will allow you to rest first."

After saying that, she left the room.

After Scarlet left, the room fell quiet once more.

Gabriel leaned back against the headboard and remained there for several minutes without moving much. His body still hurt, though not as badly as before. The pain inside was deeper now, slower and heavier.

After a while, he opened his inventory and brought out the Soul Key.

The dark metal rested in his palm, cold and heavy in a way that did not match its size. He stared at it quietly, his fingers slowly tightening around it.

This thing had nearly cost him his life.

His gaze lowered.

The memory of the king returned immediately. The silence. The pressure. The way the room itself had felt smaller just from that man standing there. Even now, thinking back to it made his chest tighten.

Why had the king let him go?
