Chapter 545: Ragnarok99 Vs Master Han

Chapter 545: Ragnarok99 Vs Master Han

Sophie’s eyes moved to him immediately.

"Sit down," she said, her voice calm and not loud, yet clear enough to reach him without effort.

Ragnarok99 did not move, his hands staying flat on the table, shoulders tight, and gaze fixed on the clearing ahead as the muscles in his jaw shifted slightly while he exhaled through his nose.

"I’ve been holding myself together since the street," he replied, his tone low and controlled, though the strain behind it was obvious. "I’m not sitting this one out."

Sophie kept her eyes on him as she answered, "This is not about anger. It is about qualifications. One wrong move and we would be out."

"I know," Ragnarok99 said without raising his voice. "That is exactly why I’m going."

Cassie glanced between them, her fingers tightening slightly against the side of her chair, while Bunny went still with her cup held tightly in both hands, her eyes fixed on Ragnarok99.

Sophie did not respond immediately, studying him for a moment as she took in his posture, his breathing, and the fact that he had no intention of backing down this time, while Ragnarok99 neither raised his voice nor moved.

After a few seconds, she gave a small nod and said, "Fine. But do not let anger fight for you."

"I will," Ragnarok99 replied with a short nod before stepping away from the table and walking into the clearing, drawing quiet attention from the Broken Dawn members and even some Tianlan cultivators who now watched him more closely.

The Longsword leader looked him over once, but this time he did not choose carelessly. After Mei Zhen’s loss, his earlier confidence had been checked, and sending someone weak would make Longsword look foolish, while sending the strongest still risked further embarrassment.

His gaze eventually settled on an older man seated near the middle of the table, someone quieter than the rest, with partly gray hair and the calm expression of a man who had fought more than he spoke. Unlike the younger martial artists, he had not mocked the outsiders even once.

Giving a short nod, the Longsword leader said, "Master Han. You go."

At those words, several Tianlan cultivators straightened, whispers spreading quietly as the earlier loose confidence at Longsword’s table shifted into something more serious.

ChaosCleric leaned slightly toward IceQueen and muttered, "They are taking this one seriously."

IceQueen kept her eyes on the older man and replied, "Good. That means we could get rid of Gabriel. Less competition for us."

Master Han stood and picked up a simple long sword. There was no qi, no visible pressure, and no careless smile as he walked into the clearing with measured steps and stopped opposite Ragnarok99.

Looking at him calmly, Master Han said, "You are angry."

"Not enough to be stupid," Ragnarok99 replied, his tone sounding more like a growl.

"That is better."

Liang glanced between them and raised his hand before saying, "Begin."

Master Han moved first, his sword flashing down as Ragnarok99 reacted a moment late and blocked, though the force behind the strike still pushed him sideways, his boots dragging across the ground before he regained balance.

Cassie’s expression tightened at once, while Bunny’s fingers curled tighter around her cup as the liquid inside shifted.

Ragnarok99 exhaled sharply and adjusted his grip. "Alright. You are not like the noisy ones."

Master Han did not respond and attacked again, and this time Ragnarok99 met him head-on as the first exchange turned rough, blades clashing repeatedly with each impact tensing his arms. Master Han’s strikes were not flashy, but they came from difficult angles that forced constant adjustment.

The first turning point came when Ragnarok99 tried to push him back through raw strength, but Master Han shifted his blade, stepped half a pace to the side, and struck Ragnarok99’s ribs with the flat of his sword, knocking the air from his lungs and making several Broken Dawn members rise halfway from their seats.

Ragnarok99 staggered but stayed on his feet, catching the next strike and pushing hard enough to force Master Han back a single step, and that one step shifted the rhythm.

"Good," Master Han muttered.

Ragnarok99’s eyes flashed with irritation as he replied, "Don’t praise me like this is training,"

He rushing forward and increasing the pace of the fight.

Master Han suddenly altered his angle, his sword slipping past Ragnarok99’s guard and nearly reaching his throat, but Ragnarok99 leaned back at the last second, feeling the edge pass close before responding with a shoulder charge that slammed into Master Han’s chest.

The older man slid back but kept his footing, drawing more serious looks from the Tianlan cultivators as some muttered that he had been pushed back, even if only once, acknowledging that the outsider was not weak.

Ragnarok99’s breathing grew heavier, sweat forming along his temple, but his focus sharpened as the anger remained without controlling his movements, something Master Han noticed as he added more weight to his next attack.

The two continued to clash, the sound of blades and air pressure rippling outward and echoing across the clearing as even Gabriel’s attention settled fully on the fight, a faint glimmer of approval appearing in his eyes.

At that moment, Ragnarok99 blocked two strikes, took one on the shoulder, and stepped into the fourth, choosing not to retreat but instead trapping Master Han’s blade and twisting his body to use the older man’s forward motion against him, shifting his balance and creating an opening.

Ragnarok99 seized it and struck, his weapon stopping a finger away from Master Han’s chest as the clearing grew quiet once more.

Master Han looked down at the weapon, then back at Ragnarok99, and after a brief pause said, "I lose."

Ragnarok99 pulled back immediately, his breathing heavy as his shoulders rose and fell, the strain visible as his arms trembled slightly and a red mark showed along his ribs from the earlier strike.

At the Broken Dawn table, the tension finally eased as Bunny nearly stood with a smile and said, "You did it,"

Ragnarok99 did not celebrate, instead turning and walking back to the table still breathing hard, waving off the others when they tried to encourage him before sitting down without making a scene.

Sophie watched him and gave a small nod, and he understood.

Liang then looked across the hall and announced, "All four outsider groups have now answered the challenge. Olympus won. ChaosKnight won. Broken Dawn won. The Holy Church refused under their own authority."

Gao Ren remained silent, his expression unpleasant as he finally sat down, clearly dissatisfied but no longer able to push further without escalating the situation.

Dinner resumed as the music returned and servants replaced the damaged table, conversations continuing in lower tones while the Tianlan groups still carried displeasure, though the way they looked at the outsiders had changed.

While the dinner was going on, Liang’s gaze stayed fixed on Gabriel, as though he was trying to unravel the mask he was putting on.

"You seem very interested in him," Evelyn said from beside him.

"He feels familiar," Liang replied. "I mistook him for someone, but I can tell he’s much stronger than that person, so they can’t be the same."
