Chapter 547 547: The Burried God's Tomb Inner Ring

When Gabriel had said those words, he sensed a brief hesitation from the armored figure.

Naturally, he was never one to pressure someone into doing what they did not want to do. Of course, the case was different when it came to his enemies, but right now, Vv was not his enemy.

"Well, if you don't want to talk about it, you don't need to say anything," he said.

"Thank you," Vv replied.

"Sure," Gabriel nodded and walked away. A part of him was curious, but he pushed that curiosity aside for now.

The lower corridor returned to silence behind him. Vv did not call him back, and Gabriel did not look over his shoulder either.

What he did not know was that even after he left, the armored figure remained standing there, staring in his direction.

By the time he returned, most of the upper floors had gone quiet.

Gabriel entered his room and closed the door behind him. The room was simple but comfortable, with a low table near the side, a clean bed, and a window facing part of Tianlan's inner city. Outside, a few lamps still burned along the streets, and the distant training grounds had finally gone silent.

He removed his outer coat and placed it over the chair.

A knock came before he could sit.

Gabriel paused and looked toward the door. The person outside had not hidden their presence, so he already knew who it was before he opened it.

"What are you doing here?" he said, looking at the person.

IceQueen stood outside alone.

She was not with ChaosCleric. Vv was not there either. Her expression was calm as usual, but the fact that she had come alone at this hour already showed this was not a casual visit.

"May I come in?" she asked.

Gabriel stepped aside. "Come in."

IceQueen entered, and her eyes briefly moved across the room before she sat down near the low table without waiting to be offered a seat. Gabriel closed the door and sat across from her, his posture relaxed.

For a few seconds, neither of them spoke.

The room was quiet enough that the soft sound of wind outside the window could be heard. IceQueen placed both hands lightly on her knees and looked at him with a more serious gaze than usual.

"I came to speak before Liang gives the official briefing tomorrow," she said.

Gabriel leaned back slightly. "Why? We could just wait for the briefing tomorrow."

"Well, I'll call it my own version," IceQueen replied. "Liang will tell everyone the safe version. Route, rules, dangers, objectives. That is useful, but not enough."

Gabriel did not interrupt. IceQueen seemed to appreciate that, because she continued without slowing down.

"The Buried God's Tomb is not just a mission site. It is a place the people of Tianlan have been watching for a long time. They will not say everything in front of outsiders, even if they invited us. Martial Palace is hosting this, but that does not mean they trust everyone here."

Her fingers tapped lightly once against her knee.

"The same goes for Longsword, the other Tianlan guilds, Olympus, the Holy Church, and even Broken Dawn. Everyone will enter with their own goal."

Gabriel's eyes remained calm behind the mask.

IceQueen looked at him more closely. "ChaosKnight's goal is not to fight everyone there. We need to reach the inner chamber."

"Need?" Gabriel asked.

"Yes," she replied. "The outer tomb will have rewards, traps, old formations, monsters, and whatever else Tianlan failed to clear. But the real value is deeper inside. The inner chamber is where the Core Suppressing Spike is located, and I believe everything important is tied to that place."

Gabriel rested one arm against the table. "You want the spike."

"I want access," IceQueen corrected. "The spike itself may not be something we can simply take and walk away with. But if we reach the inner chamber, we will at least be in position to claim something meaningful."

Her voice stayed calm, but the intention behind it was clear.

She had not come to discuss the general mission.

She had come to make sure he understood her priority.

IceQueen leaned forward slightly, her eyes fixed on him. "When we enter, I want you to protect my access to the inner chamber above everything else."

Silence fell over the room.

The lamp gave off a warm glow, but the space between them felt colder after those words. IceQueen had said it directly. Not the team. Not the mission. Not even the survival of every member.

Her access.

Gabriel looked at her quietly. "Above everything else?"

IceQueen did not look away and nodded confidently. "Yes."

Another long silence followed.

Gabriel understood what she wanted. If things became chaotic, she did not want him wasting his strength saving every ChaosKnight member or joining pointless fights. She wanted him to keep the path open for her, even if the others were delayed, injured, or forced back.

It was a ruthless request, but it was not stupid.

He had expected something like this from her.

"I'll do what's necessary," Gabriel said eventually.

IceQueen's eyes narrowed slightly. "That is not the same as agreeing."

"It is the answer I am giving."

For a moment, she simply studied him. Her gaze moved over the mask, his posture, and the relaxed way he sat despite the heavy request. Gabriel's tone had been neutral, but it also made one thing clear.

He would not be fully controlled.

IceQueen seemed to understand that.

After a while, she stood up.

"Fine. For now, that will do."

Gabriel also rose, though he did not walk her out.

IceQueen moved toward the door, but before leaving, she stopped with one hand near the handle.

"Tomorrow, do not underestimate the tomb," she said. "Everyone invited has strength, but strength alone will not be enough inside."

Gabriel replied calmly, "I know."

This time, IceQueen did not ask if he truly did.

She opened the door and left.

Gabriel stood there for a few seconds after the door closed. The room became quiet again, but the coming mission already felt closer than before.

The next morning was the day of departure to the Buried God's Tomb.
