Chapter 550: Inside the Tomb: Broken Dawn in Trouble [1]

Buried God’s Tomb.

Gabriel looked at the four words for a moment longer, and although his expression beneath the mask did not change, his senses were already moving across the sealed entrance, touching the chains, the talismans, the guards, and the cold air that continued to flow out from within.

Liang stepped forward with Evelyn beside him, and after exchanging a few words with the cultivators guarding the entrance, he raised the token in his hand and pressed it against the stone pillar to the left.

For a few seconds, nothing happened.

A low sound soon came from inside the mountain, deep and slow, as if something ancient was being forced to move after a long time. The chains along the pillars tightened, the markings on the stone surface lit up one after another, and the massive dark doorway slowly opened wider.

RUMBLE!!!

Small stones fell from the mountain wall, and the cold air that rushed out made several outsiders step back without meaning to, while the cultivators from Tianlan only stood straighter, their eyes filled with focus rather than discomfort.

Liang turned around and looked at everyone. "Once we enter, do not touch anything unless your guide permits it. The tomb is linked by several inner routes, but each route changes depending on movement inside, so moving as one large group would only trigger more formations."

He paused for a moment, letting that warning sink in before adding, "Each party will take one path. The routes connect deeper inside, and if your group is delayed or separated, follow your guide’s instructions and do not force your way through."

Gabriel understood the reason immediately.

A large group would be safe in a normal dungeon, but this was not a normal dungeon. Too many people meant too many steps, too many auras, and too many chances for one fool to touch the wrong thing and drag everyone into trouble.

This place was built to punish crowds.

One cultivator guide was assigned to each outside group. ChaosKnight received a middle aged man in plain martial robes, while Broken Dawn, Olympus, and the Holy Church were given their own guides as well.

Gabriel’s gaze shifted briefly toward Broken Dawn.

Sophie stood at the front of her group, her veil covering her face as usual, but her posture remained calm. Ragnarok99 stood close to her, while Cassie and Bunny watched the entrance with serious expressions.

He wanted to look longer, but he pulled his gaze away.

He was White Phantom right now, not Gabriel.

The first group entered under Liang’s instruction, and after that, the rest followed one by one. When ChaosKnight stepped through the entrance, Gabriel walked behind IceQueen and Vv, his senses open, his hand resting near his weapon without appearing tense.

The moment he crossed the gate, the world seemed to change.

The air inside was thick with qi.

Gabriel was not a cultivator, yet even he could sense it pressing against his skin and pushing against the mana inside his body. It did not attack directly, but it resisted him in a quiet way, like the whole tomb rejected any power system that was not its own.

Several ChaosKnight members reacted almost immediately.

One player placed a hand over his chest and frowned. Another drew in a slow breath, his face turning pale. Even IceQueen’s expression tightened slightly, though she quickly forced herself to continue walking.

"This feels terrible," ChaosCleric muttered while rubbing his arm. "It is like my mana is moving through mud."

Gabriel did not answer, but he felt it too.

The difference was that his foundation was stronger, and his body could handle the pressure far better than most. Even so, he could tell that if a long battle broke out in this place, non cultivators would waste more effort than usual to produce the same result.

The Tianlan cultivators had the opposite reaction.

Some of them looked more alive the moment they entered. Their breathing became smoother, their aura became fuller, and even their steps seemed lighter. For them, this place was not suppression but nourishment.

ChaosCleric noticed it as well and clicked his tongue. "Of course. This tomb suppresses us and strengthens them."

The guide glanced at him but did not deny it. "This place is old and filled with dense qi. Cultivators will naturally adapt better."

IceQueen kept walking in front, but Gabriel saw the discomfort on her face. She was hiding it well, but her fingers twitched once near her side, and her breathing was slightly heavier than before.

The path ahead split into several corridors not long after.

Each corridor was wide enough for a small group, but the walls were covered in old carvings, and faint lines of light moved across the stone floor at irregular intervals. Liang’s group continued toward the center path, while the other parties began taking their assigned routes.

Gabriel watched Broken Dawn move toward another passage.

For one brief moment, Sophie turned her head slightly.

He did not know if she sensed him or only glanced around out of caution, but her veiled face paused in his direction for half a breath before she continued walking with the others.

"Move," IceQueen said quietly.

The ChaosKnight guide led them down the left passage. Their footsteps echoed through the tomb, and after only a few minutes, the temperature dropped further. The walls became rougher, and the carvings turned more broken, showing old battle scenes that Gabriel did not bother studying yet.

A sound came from ahead.

Scrape.

Scrape.

Several figures appeared around the bend.

They were undead monsters, thin and dry, with broken armor hanging from their bodies and old weapons in their hands. Their eye sockets glowed faintly with dirty green light, and the moment they noticed the group, they raised their heads together.

The guide’s face remained calm. "Tomb born undead. They are birthed at level fifty."

For a moment, the ChaosKnight members went quiet, their faces going pale at once.

Level fifty was not impossible for them to handle, but those words meant something worse. If the creatures born naturally inside the tomb already started at level fifty, then the weakest beings inside this place had strength that many ordinary players still struggled to reach.

ChaosCleric swallowed. "So the average monsters here..."

"Level seventy to one hundred," the guide replied. "Some are higher."

That answer made several players gulp.

Gabriel’s gaze remained on the undead ahead, but his thoughts had already shifted elsewhere.

Sophie was strong enough to kill level fifty monsters. Ragnarok99 could fight as well. Cassie, Bunny, Sniperbowlegend, and the rest were not weak either.

But facing multiple enemies while having their mana suppressed was a completely different situation.

For the first time in a long while, a small trace of fear entered his heart, not for himself, but for his subordinates.

His fingers tightened slightly near his sword.

’Sophie can handle level fifty... but under this suppression, against numbers and traps, even she might be forced into danger.’
