Chapter 590: Another Mission
Chapter 590: Another Mission
“Extract,” Gabriel whispered.
The familiar dark purple light exploded from his palm, wrapping around the massive, pulsing heart of the sleeping Death God. Gabriel held his breath, his heart pounding in his chest with intense excitement, waiting for the system to dismantle the divine remains and grant him the power of a god.
But the dark purple light did not sink into the heart.
Instead, a blinding blood red warning screen suddenly flashed in front of his eyes. A high pitched metallic error sound rang through his mind, and the purple light around his hand shattered into harmless dust.
[Warning! Target is a Divine Rank Entity (Death God Remains).]
[Extraction Failed: Insufficient EP! (Current EP: 5000 / 50,000)]
Gabriel’s eyes widened behind his white phantom mask, his body freezing in place.
50,000 EP!
The number felt like a physical slap to his face. Even if he spent months relentlessly hunting and killing every high level monster in the entire kingdom, accumulating 50,000 EP would take an astronomical amount of time and effort.
It was a cold, harsh reality check. He had grown so strong, so quickly, that he had started to believe his talent made him completely untouchable. But the system prompt in front of him revealed the sheer, terrifying gap that still existed between him and a true, living god.
At his current level, he was still nothing but an ant looking up at the sky.
“50,000 EP…” Gabriel thought, his teeth clenching beneath his mask as he slowly withdrew his hand. “So I cannot extract the power of the god yet. If I want to claim this, I have to grow much, much stronger first.”
But he was not a man who walked away empty handed.
He looked back at the giant Core Suppressing Spike standing in the center of the room. The towering black nail was completely dark, its white siphoning runes dead, and its massive chains hanging loose. Because Gabriel had previously siphoned all of its energy into his own body, the ancient seal was now completely useless.
And without the active siphoning power of the spike keeping the god sealed, the giant heart in the crack was no longer bound.
If he left the heart here, it would slowly regenerate and wake up on its own, destroying the entire continent. And if he wanted to extract it later, he had to keep it safe.
A cold, calculating glint appeared behind Gabriel’s mask.
He reached both hands into the deep crack in the stone floor. He gripped the sides of the massive, pulsing golden crimson heart of the Death God. It felt heavy and hot, vibrating with a terrifying raw physical presence that made his hands shiver.
With a single heavy pull, Gabriel lifted the beating heart out of the fissure and immediately stored it in his inventory.
Ding!
A golden light flashed, and a series of massive flashing red system warnings exploded before his eyes, accompanied by a heavy metallic alarm sound that rang through his mind:
[Ding! You have obtained The Beating Heart of the Dead God (Divine Rank)]
[Warning! The active sealing artifact (Core Suppressing Spike) is dead. The Death God’s Heart has begun its automatic regeneration and awakening process.]
[Warning! Awakening Timer Activated!] Time Remaining: 180 Days (6 Months) 00 Hours 00 Minutes.
[Critical Note: If the Heart of the Death God is not extracted or destroyed before the timer reaches zero, the Death God will fully awaken and arise, instantly destroying your inventory container and obliterating the surrounding continent.]
Gabriel stared at the flashing red timer, his eyes narrowing behind his visor.
180 days. Exactly six months.
The countdown had begun. He now had a strict, high stakes timer ticking away inside his own pocket. If he did not find a way to gather 50,000 EP to fully extract the god’s heart within six months, the sleeping god would wake up inside his inventory and destroy the entire world.
It was an incredible, suffocating weight, but Gabriel’s lips only curved into a cold, sharp smile.
He didn’t feel any fear. If anything, the urgency only made the blood in his veins burn with a cold, dangerous excitement.
Rumble! Rumble!
With the heart removed and the seal dead, the entire mountain cavern began to collapse. Huge ten meter cracks tore through the stone walls, and massive chunks of the ceiling crashed down into the empty pit, filling the room with thick clouds of dust.
Gabriel turned away from the collapsing pit and walked quickly back toward the grand iron doors.
His footsteps were light and silent. He reached the massive iron gates and placed both hands on the heavy metal.
SKRRRRRR—
With a heavy grinding groan, Gabriel forcefully pushed the grand doors open, stepping out of the collapsing Core Chamber and back into the outer room.
The survivors, Liang, Evelyn, and the members of Broken Dawn and Olympus, were all slumped on the ground, gasping for breath as the cave in shook the walls. The moment the doors opened, they looked up weakly.
And then, they froze.
Gabriel walked out of the Core Chamber, but he did not look the same. Even though he still wore the same clothes and white mask, his body radiated a faint golden crimson aura of sheer, suffocating gravity and divine pressure.
It was a pressure so heavy, so majestic, that by instinct, they felt a desperate urge to kneel and bow their heads before him.
Feeling that the others were practically struggling to stay in his presence, Gabriel withdrew his Gravity Domain skill that he had unknowingly activated.
It was only after he did this that the others could breathe properly again.
Ares stared at him with a complicated expression on his face. He was still trying to figure out where this person had come from.
How one person could hold so much power that even he, a Champion, could not see through him.
Gabriel ignored him and looked at the broken Liang and Evelyn, his voice calm and cold:
“The offer is still on. Are you two ready to join me?”
“Yes,” Liang replied without hesitation. Then his eyes turned bloodshot. “But there are some answers I need first.”
