Chapter 401 – End of the Party and Meeting, Meeting, Meeting
After the greetings from each country were over, the sunset and the banquet hall began to light up as we enjoyed the various spectacles arranged by the Dragonis Mountain Kingdom. I had actually heard beforehand that the banquet would indeed last from morning until night.
“This is tremendously hard, isn’t it?”
“Hmm. It’s hard for a person who is more comfortable relaxing in his room.”
“It’s rare for a party to last this long.”
As expected, we were exhausted and took refuge in a room separated by an impulse stand prepared in the corner of the banquet hall. After all, it is a long banquet, and some people like us will get tired in the course of it. This kind of room is also prepared for such people.
“I wonder if Grande will be okay.”
“Don’t worry.”
“I think you worry too much.”
Grande, whom I am worried about, is still in the main hall by herself because she wants to eat some more food. The people of Dragonis Mountain Kingdom wanted to entertain her, so I left everything to them.
The person himself said, “Don’t worry, she’s not a child,” so I sent him away, but after all, she’s Grande… I’m afraid that someone who doesn’t know anything about the situation will poke Grande and get into a terrible mess. It’s a disaster if someone suspects her identity as a dragon, and then she says, “I’ll prove it,” and then she blows a Breath. Even if she didn’t go as far as blowing a Breath, it would still be a disaster if she used powerful earth magic.
The small but powerful claws and tail are not just for show, but when wielded seriously, they are nothing short of a human-sized dragon’s strike. The claws can easily tear through metal armor, let alone a human body, and the tail can easily shatter stone reinforced with magic power. It will be powerful enough to easily crack the bones of the lion’s head that was messing with me the other day, sending it flying through the air.
“Ah, I can’t figure this out. What will we do tomorrow?”
“Slaying monsters.”
“Oh, what was it again? A giant flying serpent or a crocodile or something.”
“Flying biters. You’re a little drunk, aren’t you?”
“Maybe.”
They pour alcohol into people’s glasses when they come to greet you. What are they going to do to us when we die of acute alcohol poisoning? I mean, I think I drank enough that I would have collapsed if I had been here before I came to this world. I’ve been so revived after being strangled, withered, and nearly died, and my vitality has increased to the point that I’m still alive even after eating basilisk poison in my liver. Maybe I’m getting stronger with alcohol, too.
While I was thinking about this, Grande returned with a large plate of food. Behind her was the Crown Prince with a wry smile on his face and the lizardwomen maids who brought the food.
“I’m back.”
“You brought a lot of food again.”
“A mountain of it.”
“As expected, it’s too much.”
“If there’s anything left over, Kosuke can keep it for later.”
Grande placed the plate on the table, then moved to sit between Driada and me and began to eat the food on the plate with her hands. Fortunately, there were many dishes at the Dragonis Mountain Kingdom banquet that could be eaten with one’s hands without the use of a spoon or fork, so even Grande could eat this way without a problem.
“I hope she didn’t cause you any trouble.”
“It’s an honor for us, the people of the Dragonis Mountain Kingdom, to take care of Grande-sama, so don’t worry about it. More than that, I am sorry for causing Grande-sama any inconvenience.”
“Hmm? Is something wrong?”
“One of the drunken guests interfered with Grande-sama. Fortunately, I noticed it right away, and it was over.”
“It would have been better if I could have made him understand. Well, it’s not good to make trouble for Kosuke by being wild, and there’s nothing to be gained by beating up a drunken small fry. It would also be tactless to spoil the celebration with blood and guts.”
“My sincere thanks to Grande-sama…”
Prince Sindriel thanked Grande in a serious tone. If Grande goes on a rampage, it will inevitably be more than a banquet; it will be a disaster, and in many ways, it will taint the National Festival. That would be a serious matter.
But to get involved with Grande, huh? I don’t think he has a chance unless he’s as good as Melty. Sylphy is also supposed to be strong, but she is no match for Grande in unarmed combat. Even Sir Leonard and Ms. Zamir would be no match without mithril weapons. In that sense, would Isla, who can fight with magic even without a weapon, be able to? No, I don’t think that no matter what Isla can do, she can’t handle Grande. Maybe if she prepared in advance and set a magical trap, she might be able to do it.
“I wouldn’t say anything in particular if Grande would forgive it.”
“I was a little pissed off when she called me short, but that’s what drunks do, so I’ll let it go.”
Saying this, Grande grabbed a piece of roasted meat that she didn’t know what it was, put it in her mouth, and began to munch on it. It looks delicious, but I’m already full…
“Your generosity is much appreciated.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s not your fault. It’s a banquet, so why don’t you sit down and have some food and drink? It’s just me here, so no one will complain if you take it easy.”
Saying this, Grande offers the Crown Prince Sindriel a seat and a meal. Hmm? Grande’s willingness to share a meal with the Crown Prince seems to indicate that she and the Crown Prince have formed a reasonable friendship. I also like Prince Sindriel’s personality, and if Grande trusts him, maybe I can trust him.
“I wonder if we should talk about our plan to raid the flying biters’ nests. From the looks of it, it won’t be tomorrow, and I’d like to make plans as soon as possible.”
“Certainly. It may be tactless to do this over drinks, but I think it would be better for us to do it later.”
“Let’s talk about the details again when we’re sober, but let’s just decide when to discuss the details in person.”
I don’t think it’s a good idea to carry out a strategy you thought up in your drunken head. For now, let’s set a meeting for tomorrow afternoon or later. I’ll have to let Ted and the others know that they should attend.
