Chapter 1874: Part 2: A fight to save her

Stone House

As time passed, I continued to wait for the old man, but he didn’t come back. I started to worry.

I can’t leave the young girl behind defenseless. What if the attacker comes back? He might target the little girl again.

It’s a miracle that there is a magical herb to suppress the venom in the little girl’s body.

Nighttime came; the young girl was still semiconscious. She was not awake. Seeing that, I showed some hesitation.

But I decided to take a quick look outside. I walked out of the stone house.

I walked around the courtyard. I used the system’s probe function to scan the place, but there was no sign of the old man whatsoever. My eyes flashed with frustration.

The sky was dark with sparkling stars. However, the environment was rich and filled with a variety of mana, unlike the barren lands I know of. I continued to observe the place.

Suddenly, the system gave me a warning.

[Ding! An unknown wizard has been detected]

[Ding! The wizard appears to be a Supreme Wizard]

I heard the system’s voice. A terrible idea came to my mind. I wondered whether the approaching wizard was good or bad.

If it were the old man, the system wouldn’t have identified him as a Supreme Wizard. So, the person coming here was new.

Swoosh!

I quickly went inside the stone house. My gaze fell on the ten-year-old girl. I rushed to her side.

The next second, I brought her inside the Gregor Mansion. Then I went to the control room to check the monitors.

I saw a brown-haired, middle-aged man dressed in black armor walk into the room.

He was heavily built and his face looked rugged. The middle-aged man appeared to be in a hurry.

He looked around the room here and there, but he saw no sign of the girl. He then walked up to the bed and saw that the sheets were wrinkled.

He found other clues that the girl had indeed been lying on the bed recently.

Frustrated, the brown-haired man cursed in a native language. He thought the old man had taken the girl away, but he didn’t have the strength to confront him.

In the control room, I watched his activities through the mirror. I could tell the person was indeed looking for the little girl.

What should I do now? Then I saw the middle-aged man leaving the place in frustration.

A hint of relief appeared in my eyes.

A few minutes later, I reappeared outside with the girl. I placed her back on the bed and then went back out. The person was nowhere to be seen.

Buzz!

Then the system reminded me again: the middle-aged man hadn’t left. He was still in the vicinity.

Swoosh!

Before I knew it, I saw a shadow coming toward me. It was none other than the armored wizard.

He appeared in a flash, standing in front of me. The brown-haired man looked at me with intent.

"Who are you?" he asked, but it was in the native language.

I observed the man. He seemed to be coming from a battlefield; his face looked bruised and scarred.

I didn’t understand the language, but his tone was the same as the old man’s.

So, I made a hand gesture to indicate that I was new here.

The brown-haired man misunderstood, thinking I was deaf and mute.

He didn’t speak much. His gaze fell on the room and he saw the silhouette of the little girl. Seeing that she was back, he rushed inside.

A glint flashed in my eyes.

I didn’t stop him. I decided to wait and watch first. Since the person was a Supreme Wizard, I knew I could handle him with ease.

The armored wizard walked inside. He saw the girl lying on the bed and sighed in relief.

Then he noticed that although she was unconscious, her complexion was better.

He decided to take the girl from there. He picked her up and walked out of the stone house.

I watched his actions. He didn’t seem to show any bad intentions—but that’s where I was wrong.

The armored wizard walked past me, but a killing intent appeared on his face. He didn’t want a stranger to know about his actions.

He then thought of something before walking back into the room. He placed the little girl back on the bed.

Swoosh!

He left the room immediately and appeared in front of me. He cracked a wide grin.

"You are in the wrong place at the wrong time," the middle-aged man said before casting a magic spell.

Dark concentric circles appeared before him.

In a flash, they charged up. A dark magic spell was shot out from the circles.

Boom!

Black magic power came at me.

"Repulsive Force."

I cast a magic spell in response. Gray magic power shot out from my body. It spread out like a wave before coming into contact with the black magic.

Boom!

A terrific explosion occurred. The repulsive force neutralized his magic. It continued to move toward the brown-haired man.

The middle-aged man was shocked. He didn’t expect his magic to be neutralized.

Before he could even realize what was happening, the unknown magic power struck his body. It happened in the blink of an eye.

Boom!

A deafening noise rang out. The middle-aged man was thrown from the spot. His body flew through the air before crashing to the ground.

The shockwave spread across the area.

Puchak!

The man was a Supreme Wizard himself, yet he was injured by the unknown magic.

The gravity power tore through his defenses and hurt his internal organs.

The middle-aged man spat blood. He didn’t know what was going on. His internal organs were bleeding, and his heart skipped a beat.

If another spell were to land on him, he might die. He was in a dangerous situation.

The middle-aged man realized his mistake. He had bitten off more than he could chew. He immediately thought of fleeing.
