Chapter 2170: Imprisoning the Next Batch of Wizards
Chapter 2170: Imprisoning the Next Batch of Wizards
Forbidden Island
Otto was keeping watch outside. It didn’t take long for me to get fully immersed in the practice.
The old-school mana chamber was active. The magic inscriptions were attracting rich mana into the room.
The room was filled with pure, rich mana. As I ran the Gravity Ark Mental Method, I could tell that the concentration of gravity mana here was dense.
The quality was similar to that of the magic city.
The gravity mana drifted toward my body. Next, it entered my body.
I began to circulate the gravity mana. It flowed through my pathways, and I immediately felt the difference.
It had been a long time since I felt magic-city-level mana richness. After circulating, the mana went into the mana core space.
Then the newly circulated mana was absorbed by the mana core inside the mana core space.
Time went by.
I continued to repeat the process. The mana core space continued to absorb the incoming mana, and the mana core improved as well.
Not only that, the special environment of the mana chamber gave me inspiration. It made me focus on the forbidden Chapter of the inheritance.
Meanwhile,
Otto continued to keep watch. From time to time, he used his magic to search for clues, but he didn’t find any wizards approaching nearby.
Several hours later,
It was midnight. The time for the shift change arrived. A group of five Magic Lords was coming toward the seashore post.
They were not alone. A Forbidden Wizard was leading the group. They did not know about the disappearance of the wizards at the seashore post.
While Otto was using his magic, he intercepted their conversation and pinpointed their approximate location.
He learned from their conversation that they were coming to this exact post, so it was time to alert the master.
Inside the room, the system started giving me reminders, breaking my concentration. I opened my eyes.
A flicker of interest appeared in my eyes. I didn’t have time to look at the status panel, so I stood up and walked to the door.
Before leaving, I turned back toward the room. The concentration of rich mana in the room had decreased because super-grade mana was no longer being used to charge the magic inscriptions.
Next, I opened the door and walked out. I saw Otto and his facial expression; he was tense. The system also alerted me that someone was approaching.
Without asking Otto any questions, I grabbed his shoulder and reappeared inside the Gregor Mansion Hall.
"What happened?" I asked him.
"Master, a new group of Magic Lords and a Forbidden Wizard are coming here for their shift. They assume the previous group has already left for another place," Otto replied.
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. They were quite late; I had thought they would appear sooner.
Now, it was time to capture them as well. I told Otto to go back and rest, saying I would handle the rest of the matter.
He nodded and left. Then I went to the control room. I saw Puppet Zero in its original black-clad steel knight form.
It was watching the control mirror. I appeared next to the mirror. Puppet Zero greeted me, and I nodded to it before turning my attention to the mirror.
Shortly afterward,
An old man and five middle-aged individuals stormed into the brick building. Seeing the empty room, they were not surprised.
They had sensed no one inside as they drew closer to the post.
"It seems they left early. We should start taking up guard duty now," the old man said. He was the Forbidden Wizard here.
The Magic Lords behind him obeyed his command and left the post. The old man was left in the room alone.
He then noticed something different. He spread his mental power, immediately enveloping the area, and noticed the changes in the practice room.
He went over to check it and saw that the magic inscriptions inside the room were active.
It meant that someone had used the room recently. The old man thought of a person from the previous shift, wondering where they had obtained such resources, since they had all been transferred from the prison island.
He shook his head before returning to the hall to start his watch. Rather than calling it a watch, it was more like resting.
The Magic Lords would keep watch on his behalf anyway, and the old man believed that no one would dare come to the Forbidden Island regardless.
The old man was alone in the hall. He sat in a chair and relaxed.
Swoosh!
Right then, I appeared behind him and pulled him into the system space. It happened in a flash.
The old man landed on the blue grid space, and I returned to the mansion hall right away.
The old man didn’t know what had happened. One second he was in the room, and the next second he found himself inside this bizarre space.
"Who is it?" he demanded.
The old man had clearly felt someone grab his shoulder. It was just that everything had happened so fast he couldn’t spot the person.
He looked around the area. All he could see was an endless expanse of blue landscape. The sight stunned him. Like the others, he wondered whether it was an ancient ruin.
He knew a little bit of the current island’s history, so he felt a sense of dread. He realized there was no quick way out of this place.
Meanwhile,
I stood in front of the control mirror. The outside room was empty; no one else had entered yet, but I knew things would change soon.
If a second batch of wizards went missing, it would finally force the Covenant organization to pay attention.
Time passed.
I waited for the Magic Lords to arrive. Near the end of their shift, they entered the room one by one.
I captured them and imprisoned them inside the system space. The system handled the rest by isolating them.
Then I waited for events to unfold. I was curious to see what the Covenant higher-ups would do once their wizards began vanishing one after another.
Outside,
The seashore post was empty once again. Another post near the facility had also been left unguarded for an entire shift.
Finally, people began to take notice.
