Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1175: The Overloading

Chapter 1175: The Overloading

Vildred created the scenario of armageddon in front of everyone’s eyes. Although his allies were not the target, the rumblings and cracklings of the thousands of lightning bolts sent shivers across their bodies. All of them could feel that every single one of them had the power to destroy cities if they dropped.

And what would happen if all of them attacked someone at once?

Even the explosions of many overpowered skills that could vaporize dozens of kilometers in seconds would appear like small sparks in front of the damage caused by Vildred’s Heavenly Tribulation.

[So that’s what all those protagonists from those Cultivation novels and manhuas felt like... I don’t have the confidence to survive this without using the Instant Regeneration, Phase Shift, or my Cosmic Form.

A single bolt is enough to reduce a 50-kilometer radius to ashes, and the shockwaves that follow it would cover an additional 20 kilometers, shattering whatever stands in the way.

I just hope he doesn’t use more than one at a time. That will just shatter both of our domains.] thought Kahn, his heart palpating.

[Brat... It’s weaker compared to when I faced him 1100 years ago. He is not at his full strength yet.

If he were... even Argos wouldn’t survive despite his rank.] informed Rathnaar, the peak saint who once fought and escaped from Vildred when he was still the Dragon Emperor.

[So you saw this Heavenly Tribulation form?] asked Kahn, filled with disbelief.

[Yes. I had to use Tablet of Arcana a couple of times to bear the brunt of these lightning strikes.

In my defense, I was only an 8th-stage saint back then, and Vildred was comparable to an intermediate 7th-stage saint. He also just became the dragon emperor just a couple of decades ago.

Still, he was far more powerful than those heroes with divine weapons.] elaborated Rathnaar.

[Ah, good thing that in this timeline, he is with me. Even Martial Emperor must have had a hard time facing him in the original one.] thought Kahn to himself.

Argos then created a small barrier to protect himself, Kahn, and Morrigan.

Although their domains were active, they could barely hold on because of how terrifyingly powerful Vildred’s domain was.

If not for Vildred himself controlling and restricting his domain, Kahn and Morrigan’s would have been destroyed long ago.

"Hubris! Do you think I fear you, dragon?" asked the mythical beast, his serpentine eyes filled with rage.

"Shut up and fight!" shouted the lightning dragon emperor and waltzed off towards the snake.

Thud!

Tremble!

Each step decimated hundreds of meters of ground below.

Flap!

Vildred widened his wings and took a flight.

Woosh!

The single flap of his wings created multiple tornadoes, changing the atmosphere. The thunderstorm now appeared even more terrifying.

And finally, both titanic bodies clashed...

BOOMM!!!!

The shockwaves from their clash froze the heavy rain for a second as if time itself stopped.

SHRIEK!!

ROAARR!!

The Dragon Emperor’s roar and the Basilisk Descendant’s shriek tore the reality, forming cracks in the world as if they would break into the true dimension itself.

The shockwaves spread in a 15-kilometer area, and even the ground below formed a 100-meter-deep crater.

Vildred, using his dragon maw and claws, started mauling the Rainbow Serpent. Even though he wasn’t as long as the opponent, his advantage with legs and wings was apparent.

The enemy, on the other hand, wasn’t helpless either.

Rainbow Serpent still had the physical strength, but not the venom like Rudra and Jormungandr had. Although it had the Basilisk bloodline, due to its nature to passively absorb and convert world energy, it did not have venom that could melt down mountains.

But the bite force was many times stronger, and the body was certainly far more impervious to attacks even from a Royal Dragon.

Even Kahn could tell that despite Rudra’s magma body, he would not have survived Vildred’s physical attacks, given how big the royal dragon and his claws were.

Vildred would have easily ripped off Rudra’s head in the first bite itself. But Rainbow Serpent was far resilient and bigger to fend off against those attacks.

[Alright, it’s time.] said Kahn to Vildred telepathically.

BOOM!!

Right then, one of Vildred’s lightning bolts dropped.

BANG!

Shatter!

Crumble!

A 20-kilometer radius was instantly pulverized, and an explosion akin to an atomic bomb simply evaporated everything.

Sizzle!

Crackle!

Yet, the Rainbow Serpent had only retained some visible injuries, regenerating in front of their eyes while Vildred’s body remained unaffected.

"This... how can a mere lightning strike hurt me?" spoke the Rainbow Serpent, his tone filled with bewilderment.

Even if he couldn’t control the world energy, his synergy with elements of nature should’ve rendered all the damage useless.

Previously, he negated all the damage made by Vildred and Kahn due to that very fact. Yet somehow, he was actually hurt.

"Fool... why do you think I used my domain?

Even if you’re impervious to my lightning strikes... they still have great destructive force and momentum to the point your body with natural affinity will still receive devastating physical damage.

Why do you think I have summoned so many of them in the sky?" said Vildred, mockery clear in his voice.

Bang!

BOOM!!

Another terrifying lightning bolt dropped, changing the landscape again.

As seconds passed, the mythical beast’s powers struggled to restore the land around him, fending off corruption and rot, while bearing the devastating attacks from Vildred was beyond his capabilities.

If Kahn hadn’t severed his connection to the world energy, it wouldn’t be a problem. But now, the Rainbow Serpent was expending his own reserves at an alarming rate.

Minutes passed, and the incessant barrage of the world disaster level attacks, along with Vildred’s physical attacks, were wounding the nigh invincible Rainbow Serpent in front of their eyes.

This was Kahn’s original plan. He was giving the Rainbow Serpent what gamers called the ’Overclocking’ treatment.

He was putting strain on Rainbow Serpent’s CPU, aka his passive abilities, by using the domain.

Then he was targeting the Graphics Card, aka the body. Getting hit by those terrifying lightning strikes and Vildred at the same time was overloading the VRAM while the CPU was also being used 100%.

On top of it, the power supply was also limited due to Kahn’s domain.

With so many strains put on the system... how could the Rainbow Serpent even manage to give stable 60 fps at 4K resolution?

The result was evident... the system itself would overheat and crash after a while.

BOOMM!!!

After 12 minutes... it finally happened.

The Rainbow Serpent was now at its last straw.

The thousands of lightning bolts were all used. If Vildred were at his peak strength, he would be left with ample strength, but now, due to his limited strength... he was barely able to move.

"Stand aside." a grim voice echoed as Argos suddenly appeared in the sky.

He was the last chess piece in Kahn’s plan.

They didn’t know what kind of secret the Rainbow Serpent had to allow it to bypass most of their attacks, and even now, they didn’t have time to investigate.

Rumble!

Argos’s dark greatsword enlarged and appeared in the sky. The last time Kahn used the same attack... was when the vampire king used it to break the invisible dome of the Verlassen Fiefdom.

"Lunar Extinction!"

BLIP!

The whole world turned white for a moment; none dared to open their eyes to this blinding attack.

Argos made his terrifying slash and razed down 30 kilometers of space, evaporating everything in sight.

After the light disappeared... what everyone saw was Rainbow Serpent split in half.

Argos made sure not to hit its core, so they too wouldn’t get swept away in the explosion.

The mythical beast itself had its head spread in different directions, eyes still unable to discern what had happened.

The guardian of this area was finally dead, thanks to all of their efforts.

******************

Vildred turned into his humanoid form, gasping for breath while Kahn and Morrigan were sweating.

"His body... I need to take it." said Kahn.

Kahn tried to use his domain and pull the body inside so he could absorb its abilities later. And there was also Rainbow Serpent’s core.

But right then...

Crackle!

BANG!!

A white light shot down from above, and an astral set of eyes appeared in the sky.

"Who dares to enter my territory and even kill one of my servants?" a mortifying and domineering voice echoed.

Shatter!

Crack!

"Argh!"

"Aaaahhhh!!"

The voice shattered all of their domains, causing a huge backlash.

Similar to a lighthouse beacon, the eyes then started scanning the area.

Because their domains were destroyed so easily... Kahn, Morrigan, and Vildred were severely injured, coughing up blood.

Woosh!

Argos quickly summoned the flying ship.

"Let’s go, we can’t afford to linger another second." he said and steered the ship haphazardly.

Within seconds, the ship disappeared at the speed of light.

Because of his domain breaking apart and even the head being so massive, Kahn didn’t even get to store the Rainbow Serpent’s body or core to absorb its powers and bloodline later.

It was a regretful result, but their lives were far more important.

******************

Finally, an hour later...

Step!

Step!

A ginormous 4-legged being, a massive body that sucked out the life force from the surrounding and even turned fertile land barren in a second, walked forth.

The two enormous, white, crane-like wings on its back gave off a prosperous aura.

The white fur with blue stripes, two long tails that stretched as far as 2 kilometers in length, all while a dark red queue of crystals appeared at the back of the head, spreading on its back right over the spine area.

A white mane and fangs no different than those of a sabertooth came into sight.

"A vampire, a human, a succubus... what is this unpleasant smell?" spoke this ancient entity.

Sniff!

Sniff!

"A Royal Dragon?" it spoke with confusion.

"Has Baltaraaz forgotten our agreement? How dare a Royal Dragon enter the Abyss Forest?

Or is it a rogue of the Dragon Empire?" it questioned and tilted its head.

"I have been asleep for the past 20 years. I’m hungry." it spoke and licked its lips.

The humongous being that towered over 10 kilometers in height, despite standing on its four legs, looked at Rainbow Serpent’s corpse.

"You failed to do a simple task of guarding my borders and preserving my peace as I slumbered quietly.

What a useless pet I have." said the titanic beast and opened its jaw.

"Now become my nourishment and make up for this disgrace."

Rip!

Tear!

The ginormous being started devouring the rainbow serpent with its massive jaw and tore off an enormous chunk of flesh.

The being ate thousands of tons of flesh as if he were eating a regular fish in each bite.

An hour later...

It was done eating the entire body of the Rainbow Serpent, leaving behind its humongous skeleton that stretched as long as the original body.

"Finally, I feel satiated. Now... let’s hunt some invaders." said the beast as its massive blue eyes flickered bright.

The ginormous being that even towered even against someone like Vildred in his true royal dragon form was...

Godbeast Baihu.
