Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1257: The Deceptive Gods

Chapter 1257: The Deceptive Gods

Harbinger of Gluttony & Decay… Beelzebub.

Yes, the divine weapon that was promised to Kahn 3000 years ago was none other than Beelzebub.

[What the hell? Beelzebub is one of the Demon Princes of hell on earth.

In the New Testament, Beelzebub is considered to be another name of Satan himself.

Are you telling me that the divine weapon of the Hero of Darkness is basically just Satan on Earth?] wondered Kahn as he stood with a shocked countenance.

“Are you stunned after hearing this divine one’s magnificent name?

I shall allow you to kneel and pay your respects to me.” said the scythe as it exuded its leaden aura of darkness.

“Fuck this shit, I’m out!” said Kahn as he started walking away towards the entrance door of the throne room.

“Wait! Why are you leaving?!” asked the hovering war scythe.

Kahn turned his head around and spoke with a curt tone.

“I don’t need another eccentric and delusional nutjob yapping in my head. I already have enough of them.” said Kahn with a disinterested tone.

“Besides, all I’m interested in is knowing why my predecessor chose to cut his ties with the God of Darkness.” said Kahn as he looked at Morpheus.

“Is that all? You haven’t told the kid yet, Morpheus?” asked Beelzebub as it glanced at the 8th Hero of Darkness.

“Better if he heard it directly from you. Besides, you two were bound to meet some day anyway.” said Morpheus as he shrugged his arms.

The floating scythe, almost as long as Kahn’s height, slowly came towards the latter and spoke with a grim tone.

“Listen properly… I, Beelzebub, was made from a particular aspect of the God of Darkness.

Some divine weapons were forged with the transcedental essence of the Gods, while some were derived from the aspect those Gods represent in Prime Ultimatus, the one you lot call Vantrea.

I, on the other hand, was created from his ‘Will’. The very reason which makes him what he is.” iterated Beelzebub.

“And because I inherit his will… I want to consume the whole world into eternal darkness.

I do not want a single living thing in my sight. I yearn for death and annihilation of everything that exists.

Even though the God of Darkness does not want to see the world destroyed, the lingering will within him will always be part of his true nature.

After all, that was how he came into existence.” revealed the divine weapon.

“What?! You mean to say that he, too, wishes for the destruction of Vantrea?” asked Kahn with a bewildered expression.

“That I do not know for certain. Because even if the Demon God somehow succeeded and destroyed the entire multiverse… there are Gods and Goddesses who wouldn’t be affected by it.” clarified the scythe.

“But just because they don’t face any threat to their existence doesn’t mean they don’t have their ambitions of their own.” it added with a stern voice.

“The Gods and the Goddesses… Seek the Demon God’s power. And that was why they gave all the chosen heroes and heroines a powerful tool to not only kill him… but siphon his power to them when they succeeded.

As for those tools… It was us, the Divine Weapons.” declared Beelzebub.

Shock!

Gasp!

Kahn stood rooted in shock as his entire body froze on the spot.

“The Gods and Goddesses want the Demon God’s power?!” asked Kahn with a hesitant tone.

It was then that Morpheus spoke with a stern countenance…

“Think about it… Why is it that only the divine weapons seemed to be the only thing in the entire world that had the power to kill the Demon God?

There are plenty of ancient rank weapons, artifacts left by Deities of the past, and even beings like Elder Dragons, Godbeasts, and Archangels that exist in the world.

But how come they do not intentionally try to kill the Demon God in all these millions of years?

And even when they know that the world might end soon, they still haven’t directly intervened in any of the Great Wars in the past 3000 years.

What’s stopping them from killing the Demon God and saving the world?” stated Morpheus as he raised important questions at the same time.

This shocked Kahn once again. He had often heard long paragraphs of people praising all these mighty beings as perfect.

Some even revered them, such as the Dragon Empire, where the Elder Dragons still acted as the Guardians of their species. And then, there was the Nadur Empire, where Godbeasts had many descendant clans.

Meanwhile, the Empire of Light literally had a religion based around the existence of the Archangels. Kahn even sensed some of them when he revealed his existence and identity as the new Hero of Darkness during the Conclave of Heroes.

Yet these mighty beings that existed even before the whole Great War started against the Demon God… had chosen not to interfere.

In the beginning, he always assumed that it was because the majority of these empires served particular gods and goddesses, so their decree prohibited them since the Chosen Heroes were supposed to be the ones representing those Gods.

But that logic didn’t work against the Dragon Empire, where they hated all the Gods equally. Similarly, while God of Nature was worshipped even by the True Descendant clans of the Godbeasts, they themselves still chose to follow the doctrine and let the Hero of Nature be their representative for this crusade.

But if Kahn were to believe what Beelzabub, who partook in the Great War since its beginning, said, it was the truth… then Kahn had very few reasons to dismiss this claim.

“So can Gods even be trusted at this point? They used us humans from a different world just to be their patsies and hired guns while giving us a weapon to accomplish their original goals.

And all these Heroes and Heroines have been dying over it for the past three millennia.

And all these billions of worshippers who see them as their revered creators… have been part of a facade?” said Kahn as he clenched his fist tightly in rage.

“While a degree of truth lies in what you said… it is also premature for us to assume that all the Gods intended this outcome.

Just take God of Darkness, for example. He could’ve interfered when I killed the Demon God and absorbed his power. But he didn’t do so.” said Morpheus with a stoic tone.

“While his true intentions are obscure… it would be foolish to assume that he is one of the bad guys.

We need more information and confirmation. Then, how to accomplish the goal with the methods Miyamoto Musashi and I told you… it’s all up to you.” spoke the 8th Hero.

It was right then, Beelzebub clamored…

“Now, prove it to me,” said the divine weapon.

“Prove what?” asked Kahn with a puzzled face.

BOOM!!!

The war scythe’s intense aura erupted as its grim voice echoed…

“That you are worthy to wield me!”
