Chapter 1285: The Helpful Hand
Chapter 1285: The Helpful Hand
Just a few minutes ago, Kahn specifically recounted the events that happened 300 years ago, letting the people of the Rakos Empire know about the dark history and how it almost wiped out an entire empire that stood for 10 thousand years.
And while the world believed that they were all dealt with, the survivors were hidden by the 8th Hero of Darkness, while preserving their strength and regaining their numbers just to show up right when the Great War of this generation was about to begin.
“There are powerful saints whose existence has been deliberately hidden by the previous rulers.
I do not know the main reason behind it, but fortunately for us… one of the strongest Sovereigns of this era is on our side,” said Kahn with a content smile.
He then explained who got the moniker of a Sovereign by people in the top power dynamic across the world.
Kahn then mentioned how he met Argos Belmont, a 9th-stage saint who had taken the role of the Guardian of the next Hero of Darkness.
He cited how he found the existence of the hidden Abyss Empire that was sealed off by the 8th Hero of Darkness.
“The people of the surviving Abyss Empire believe that I am someone summoned from another world.” he spoke with a certainty in his tone.
“Haha ha! Can you believe that?
Our emperor is from another world? Did those guys really believe such nonsense?” spoke a man sitting in a tavern.
People had their own take and reaction on this revelation.
Because everyone believed and knew at this point that Kahn Salvatore was a man born in the Verlassen Fiefdom.
It was part of his speech 5 years ago when he won the Emperor’s Chosen competition and became its new Sovereign.
If he were from another world, then why would he dedicate his life all those years ago to managing the fiefdom and almost get killed by the Noble Factions?
His death had been the talk of the entire empire 5 years ago. So no one even fathomed the idea of questioning Kahn’s origins at this moment.
“What a load of bullshit! If he is an otherworlder, then why would our first emperor choose him as his successor?
He killed 9 heroes by himself. Why would his soul make a pact with a hero to lead our empire again?” asked a snakekin watching in one of the busy streets as he watched the broadcast with thousands of other people.
“Exactly! Our first emperor banned anything related to the gods. No way in hell would he allow some pesky otherworlder, calling themselves a ‘Hero’, to become our new emperor.” said a tall black orc.
Everyone who heard his words nodded in unison.
This was another plausible reaction of the people. Because it simply didn’t make sense.
The man who killed and hated the Heroes chosen by the Gods, choosing another one as his successor… it would be the biggest lie they ever heard.
But what none of them knew… it was the truth all along.
Kahn was mixing so many lies, twisting the truth with it based on everyone’s common knowledge, added with a proper chronological order… that the lie was the most believable and proven fact they had ever heard.
The seamless flow of this narrative was also backed by people’s own intelligence, as they believed themselves to have figured out the whole story.
Only if they knew how big of a pathological liar Kahn was at this point.
“Well, let us leave them to their imagination. The matter at hand is that I am also one of their core figures as the new Hero of Darkness.
There is a cult that serves only the God of Darkness. And by default, I am its Cult Leader now.” declared Kahn with a chuckle.
“Ha ha ha!! Can you believe it, my fellow citizens?
The man who grew up believing that there were no Gods is now the leader of a faction which serves a God?” asked Kahn as he laughed hysterically.
“But I still chose to accept that role as well. Do you know why?” elaborated Kahn and asked a question to the masses.
“It was because of this…”
He said and then pointed at a holographic projection behind.
Soon, that projection itself became the main broadcast as people watched with their mouths open.
“That’s right. I accepted becoming the Hero of Darkness. Because now…” he spoke with an almost sinister tone…
“We also control the armies of the Abyss Empire.”
******************
What followed not only amazed the common citizens of the Rakos Empire but also the governing authorities because what appeared in front of their eyes…
Was a massive military outpost that stretched for dozens of kilometers just from a bird’s eye view.
Anyone could tell that the original number would be far greater as hundreds of flying battlebarges and warships stretched their shadows over the settlement.
The unending numbers of massive armored soldiers, all adorning weapons and ammunition, now filled the streets.
“This is the outpost for their temporary stay, I had ordered to be made after meeting the God of Darkness and the people of the Abyss Empire.
They will be standing by our side under my leadership as their Supreme Commander,” revealed Kahn.
Another surge of befuddlement spread across the masses as the seemingly dangerous army that warranted their fear… turned out to be an ally under their emperor’s command.
“Now imagine… Even if we were to enter this Great War as an empire, collaborating to fight the Demon Empire, with the power of two empires on our side… who the hell would dare to challenge our might and authority?” asked Kahn to his subjects.
“Anyone in their right mind would prefer not to irk our ire and cause unnecessary trouble for the Rakos Empire and its army.
We are already one of the most fearsome empires, the one that still hasn’t been conquered by anyone ever since its founding.
Now, who would dare to fight us, just to spell their doom?” he raised another question, but with a confident smile.
“My people… I did not start this war, and neither did I ever want the people of this empire to get caught in needless fights.
But if we are to enter the battlefield for the sake of our nation and our future… It is my responsibility as your emperor to safeguard our own interests first.” he clarified with a stern voice.
“I have chosen to be a Hero for the sake of our people. I have decided to serve God, even though I never believed in any… just for the future of our children.
So, as the man who now has to shoulder the burden of billions of lives, let me ask you one thing.” spoke Kahn as he beckoned the citizens of the Rakos Empire.
“Who will stand and fight beside me?!”
