Chapter 1292: The Dispersion
Chapter 1292: The Dispersion
Kahn, while proposing his own terms for his forces to join the council… Out of nowhere, he talked about the dispersion of The Inquisitors.
Who were the Inquisitors?
An elite group of warriors who shared history with the previous generation of summoned heroes, all of whom were killed by Kahn’s predecessor, Morpheus Constantine.
While the current group seemed to have been made up of people with diverse backgrounds, it became active again ever since Kahn broke through to become a 1st-stage saint right in No Man’s Land nearly 5 years ago.
“By now, those fools must have been informed of my coronation. And maybe the news of the council inviting us to join the coalition must have reached their ears too,” said Kahn as his tone turned serious.
“If you intend to have our forces actually partake in the great war without even assuring that so kill squad formed solely to hunt me is also discarded… you must take me for an idiot.” stated Kahn as he folded his arms.
This was an obvious reason for his demand.
“When people extend a helping hand without cleaning off the blood on it… would anyone shake it?” he asked with a mocking grin.
“Now… I have also been told that it is actually the Council of Great War that has been actively funding their operations and granting them access as well as authority to hunt me and end my life ever since I was exposed as the Hero of Darkness.
If it keeps on existing while expecting us to ally with your forces… what does it say about the true intentions of the council?
Am I to lead my soldiers and fight beside people who have an exclusive team of people gathered just to kill me?
In what world does it showcase goodwill? Make it make sense to me,” he iterated in a demanding tone.
Kahn chose his words carefully. Because the three 7th stage saints didn’t know that the inquisitors had been hunting for him since 5 years, and not just a few months after he was chosen as a hero by the god of darkness.
They were made to believe that it was done so since his coronation as the emperor of theRakos Empiree.
Hence, Kahn chose not to speak a single extra word that could break the chronology of hiswell-craftedd lie.
“So you think that just offering to fight with us is enough to warrant the disposal of the elite task force made of some of the most powerful saints?
Most of them were once part of the Hero’s Party during the events that happened 300 years ago.
While some were added as representatives of their empires just recently… all of them intend to watch you die,” said Havi Hos Siegfreed.
“They have enough forces, resources, and experience to even topple an empire.
That is why even an 8th-stage saint like myself has to be wary of them.
You have only six 7th-stage saints… They have nine.” spoke the Fireborne Emperor.
In reality, this was also the reason why he advised Kahn to leave the Vulkan Empire after his battle with the Hero of Life.
While Kahn saved Vanessa’s life that day… it was due to the upcoming onslaught that Havi chose to hide Kahn and allowed him passage to the Zivot Empire.
The Inquisitors by no means, were just mere pawns.
“What makes you think they wouldn’t just outright attack you as soon as the council hears of your terms?” asked Nievan, the elven emperor.
It was Havi Hos Siegfreed who spoke next…
“There are some relatives of the reigning emperors and empresses amongst them.
While they have chosen the life of reclusivity, focusing decades of their lives to avenge their old comrades… they also hold a lot of influence, titles, and authority in their respective empires.” he stated with a stern voice.
“Just because they have been assembled as a team by the council, doesn’t mean that they are just some pesky bunch of soldiers that blindly follow orders.
A lot of them are also involved in the politics of the council and have only decided to take a break until they kill you.
Do you think just making a demand like this would stop their operation?” said Nievan as he also described the authority held by the inquisitors.
“I know it won’t. I have my own information network, and I am also aware that your nephew is also a member of the inquisitors, is he not?” asked Kahn to the elven emperor.
It was the truth. Among the inquisitors was a high elf named Iskamir, who was the son of a female cousin of the emperor.
As theirs was a patriarchy, after Aragorn, he was the next in line to the throne.
“However, I am told he gave up on his claim just to hunt me down, as he was also a former member of the Hero’s Party.
Despite being older than your son, he falls behind in the claim solely because he is not an immediate blood descendant.
Now… what would happen if I were to kill him?” said Kahn as his tone revealed a malignant intention.
“Wouldn’t that make the Crown Prince the only descendant of your direct bloodline?
Do you want to stake the future of your family on only one person while the High Elf noble clans are already trying to steal the throne from your family?” said Kahn as he subvertly threatened the emperor again.
“You… how do you know that?” asked Maeral, although with a constrained anger this time.
“Well, it’s not like I have been sitting ducks here all the time. It is even laughable that your rightful heir has the qualification but still has to rely on external support just to claim his title as the Crown Prince.
What if your nephew dies and your son is the only one to claim the throne?” asked Kahn as he directly gazed at Aragorn.
“Do you truly believe that they won’t try to assassinate him using the Great War as a cover and then covet your position legally due to some of them also sharing your bloodline, thanks to their ancestors?” he entertained the possibility like it was nothing.
Kahn actually made this point on the spot based on what Legolas just told him a few minutes ago.
And now… he was going to use their weakness against them.
