Chapter 197: Good Stuff
Chapter 197: Good Stuff
Feng Chen and Chi Mo Ran raised their heads, looking at the wooden table. Sure enough, they saw a small, orchid-blue stone.
“It really is a Jie Stone1.” Feng Chen’s eyes revealed a rare brilliance.
Chi Mo Ran’s expression also looked slightly moved, “I didn’t expect there would be a Jie Stone in this ancient tomb.”
A Jie Stone was the main material for making vast spatial storage accessories. It was practically extinct on the continent, therefore only spatial storage accessories were rarely handed down. Without the main material, a Forger wouldn’t be able to do anything either.
Feng Chen and Chi Mo Ran, with their status, only had one spatial ornament each, which showed just how precious they were.
“Good stuff!” Yu Qing Qian said with a smile.
With the Jie Stone, Feng Chen could refine a spatial storage accessory. Then she could use this to cover up her mental energy space in the future. After all, if one hadn’t contracted a spatial spiritual plant, it would inevitably attract people’s attention if they suddenly had a spatial ability.
Chi Mo Ran said with slight regret: “Although I’m a Forger, but it’s a pity that I haven’t contracted a spatial spiritual plant and can’t refine it.”
Spatial storage accessories didn’t only require a Jie Stone as the main material, but also required a Forger who had formed a contract with a spatial spiritual plant. Otherwise, it was impossible to carve out a separate space for storage in the Jie Stone.
If they couldn’t refine it, then they needed to ask a Forger from the spatial-class to refine it, which would inevitably expose the existence of the Jie Stone.
“I’ll refine it. How about dividing the refined spatial storage accessories equally when the time comes?” Feng Chen had only exposed the contracted spatial spiritual plant in front of Yu Qing Qian before, but he thought Chi Mo Ran was still trustworthy, so he said.
Chi Mo Ran was surprised but didn’t ask any more questions and said with a smile: “Sure, then I’ll trouble you!”
Feng Chen was known as the number one person in the Royal Academy. Everyone knew he was a three-class Spiritual Plant Master, but now that he still had a spatial spiritual plant, then he should actually be four-class. This was truly monstrous talent.
He, himself, was known as a peerless genius among the younger generation of the Seven Great Clans, and he had only contracted four spiritual plants. Feng Chen was two years younger than him—his future development space was bound to be broader.
“I want a spatial storage bracelet, make it pretty.” Yu Qing Qian tugged Feng Chen’s sleeve, with all smiles, saying in a slightly spoilt manner.
Previously, sick beauty wanted to give his only spatial jade pendant to Yu Qing Qian. At the time, she thought it was too precious and refused to accept it. Now that she had a Jie Stone, then she didn’t need to be polite.
Feng Chen chuckled, stretched out his hand and pinched Yu Qing Qian’s nose, “I know you like beautiful things.”
Yu Qing Qian would always subconsciously act spoilt each time she wanted to order him around. This originated from the habit she had developed when she was a child.
Feng Chen had known since he was a child that Yu Qing Qian liked beautiful things, beautiful people, delicious food, and liked fun. Sometimes even he didn’t know where she got so many special hobbies, but he couldn’t help but want to let her do as she pleased.
Yu Qing Qian’s eyes were filled with joy, “As expected, sick beauty understands me.”
Seeing the subconscious interactions between Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian, and the tacit understanding that seemed to have been cultivated for many years, Chi Mo Ran’s eyes darkened.
Could it be that Feng Chen, this stinky brat, had already coveted his lovely little sister long ago?
“Hm, what’s this?” Chi Mo Ran walked to the table and found an ancient-looking classics book beside the Jie Stone.
He reached out to pick it up, wanting to open it, but the book didn’t move and couldn’t be opened at all.
Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian saw this and walked over.
“You two try.” Chi Mo Ran handed the book in his hand to Feng Chen first.
The classic was unknown, so if there was any danger, he and Feng Chen could guard against it a bit.
Feng Chen took the book, but he couldn’t read it with neither his inner energy nor his mental energy. There was a hint of amusement in his eyes.
“Qian Qian, you come and try.” Feng Chen looked at Yu Qing Qian and said.
1omg I did so much research just to try to figure out why the heck it’s called a ‘jie stone’ (芥石) because the translation for 芥 (jiè) that came up has always come up with ‘mustard’ – yes the food and colour. And I’m like, ??? what does mustard have to do with any of this? Just as I’ve given up, I came across the author using the word 须弥 (xū mí) in this chapter, which I’ve come across before in the previous series I translated, MEIWITA, and I simply translated it to Sumeru (which is the name of a mythical mountain, so I just borrowed it). But now… finally… I get it. I typed in 须弥 into Baidu and there was a suggestion of 须弥芥子 and I’m like !!! How are these two words related? Well, according to Baidu, they are a Buddhist saying. ‘Even within the smallest mustard seed, it can accommodate the huge Mount Sumeru (aka Mount Meru) inside’. You can search up more info on Mount Meru and its mythology, but in Buddhism, basically it’s the centre of the world, and in general, it’s considered to be the ‘centre of all the physical, metaphysical, and spiritual universes’ (based on a super brief wiki search lol).
Well, at least that satisfied my curiosity… Although that doesn’t help with translating it to English, so I’m going to leave Jie Stone as is, while if I come across 须弥… If it’s used as an adjective, I think I’ll have to use an adjective, like vast, maybe. I’ll think about it hahaha.
