Chapter 321: Ensemble (One)
Chapter 321: Ensemble (One)
Hearing that Yu Qing Qian liked the guqin and wanted to compete for it, and Feng Chen’s eyes revealed slight surprise.
“Qian Qian, you can also play the qin?” He really had never seen Yu Qing Qian play the qin.
Yu Qing Qian raised her chin, “Of course.”
Feng Chen chuckled, the hand that held hers tightened, and he leaned close to her ear, “I had never heard it before.”
“I originally wanted to give you a surprise in private, but now it seems I can’t.” Yu Qing Qian shrugged and said helplessly.
She liked the guqin, but she had never met one she felt fated with since she was a child, so she had never shown her qin skills.
Originally, Yu Qing Qian was even planning that if she found a guqin she was fated with, she’d carry it over to let Feng Chen listen first, as a reward for listening to his qin last time. Who knew that the scarlet guqin below gave her a sense of resonance, and coupled with the use of the guqin, she had to contend for it.
“It’s the same performing it now too.” Feng Chen’s picturesque brows were stained with a chuckle.
He didn’t know how many unknown sides there still were to Yu Qing Qian. The longer they spent together, the more he couldn’t resist wanting to explore them one by one, and he felt a sense of joy from the bottom of his heart, because they were becoming more and more compatible.
As Yu Qing Qian expected, Xie Feng Zhi and Leng Ling Shuang successfully played the complete musical score together, becoming the first pair to pass the test.
Several others also went down to try, but all failed.
When no one was left to go down, Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian jumped into the hall at the same time. Yu Qing Qian walked to the red guqin and sat down, while Feng Chen walked to the quaint, dark black guqin and sat down.
Seeing Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian appear together, Xie Feng Zhi and Leng Ling Shuang’s eyes flashed, and their expressions became a little uglier.
The people in the other rooms were very surprised. They didn’t expect Crown Prince Chen, who had always been a solitary person, would cooperate with others.
However, some also received the news that Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian’s relationship was different, so they hoped for a good show—after all, Xie Feng Zhi’s feelings towards Feng Chen weren’t a secret among the large clans.
And the Xie Clan was naturally happy to support her. If they really got Feng Chen as their son-in-law, then it was entirely possible for Xie Feng Zhi’s father to reverse the situation in the Xie Clan and compete for the position of the head of the clan again.
“The biggest show of the treasure snatching event’s on today.” Shui Yan Ze was surprised when he saw Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian preparing to perform together, but he was also amused.
Mo Yi Ran pursed his lips in disappointment: “The relationship between these two really is special!”
He was very interested in Yu Qing Qian, but if the other party was Feng Chen’s, then it really was hard for him to make a move.
“Just don’t even think about Yu Qing Qian anymore, Feng Chen isn’t someone to be trifled with.” Shui Yan Ze reminded again.
Mo Yi Ran rolled his eyes at him and said lazily: “I know, I have a sense of propriety.”
“Xie Feng Zhi and Leng Ling Shuang have already passed the round, I wonder if Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian can successfully perform together or not.” Shui Yan Ze was filled with interest.
Mo Yi Ran casually looked downwards, “Feng Chen never does something he’s uncertain about, and Yu Qing Qian’s temperament is relatively mature too. I think they’re likely to succeed.”
“That’s true. It’s beginning.” Shui Yan Ze rubbed his chin and looked down fixedly.
Feng Chen and Yu Qing Qian also spent an incense stick of time familiarising themselves with the music score. When the time was up, the two didn’t look at each other at all, but they were filled with tacit understanding, as if they had performed together numerous times, and began to pluck the strings, slowly cooperating very well, gradually perfect.
This piece of music was similar to ‘Feng Qiu Huang1’. The performance and coordination between the man and woman was very different to those of two women.
Yu Qing Qian and Feng Chen both had high attainments in qin skills, and a perfect tacit understanding. Each note floated out under their fingertips, and the lingering sound made everyone present involuntarily indulge in it.
1凤求凰 aka ‘A Phoenix Seeks His Mate’ is apparently a very popular guqin piece and one of China’s best known romantic tales. The general story goes that a well-known but impoverished poet used this song to seduce a beautiful woman. There’s variations to this story, mostly related to how the piece was performed and added details, but the fact he performed it to seduce a woman remains pretty consistent.
