1In Chinese, it’s literally 小小姐 (xiao xiao jie). ‘Xiao 小’ means ‘little/young’, and ‘小姐’ together means ‘little/young miss’. Usually if someone (a servant, typically) calls someone else 小小姐 it refers to the daughter of the young miss they serve. Under normal circumstances, the servant would change the way of address from 小姐 to 夫人 (aka ‘madam’) since, after all, they’d only have children after marriage, and the ‘little young miss’ would simply be called ‘小姐 young miss’. There are a few reasons why in this case, the elderly servant might address Yu Qing Qian as 小小姐 and not 小姐. One, perhaps the elderly servant still sees the madam as a young miss more than a madam, two, perhaps also because Yu Qing Qian isn’t officially a part of the family and that technically Leng Ling Shuang is their 小姐, and three, Yu Qing Qian, I think, is the youngest among the three ‘siblings’ (Chi Mo Ran and Leng Ling Shuang, technically). In the third scenario, it’s also normal to refer to her as Second Young Miss, but referring to her as 小小姐 isn’t weird either.
