Chapter 461: Shy Big Brother Yanbo

Chapter 461: Shy Big Brother Yanbo

The next day, the media outlets that had taken photos made another fuss over the fact that Yang Yi and Mo Fei were staying at the same hotel. However, this clearly wasn’t enough to stir up any sensational news. What was so unusual about a married couple staying at the same hotel? If they hadn’t stayed together, that would probably have been the real big news, wouldn’t it?

The fans who had bought concert tickets, however, were getting excited. The fans in Yangcheng had long heard from those who’d attended the Shanghai concert that Yang Yi’s singing was quite impressive. But hearing about it was one thing, and hearing it for themselves was another. They were still somewhat skeptical. They wondered whether Yang Yi would make a guest appearance as a supporting singer at this concert. If he took the stage, they’d finally be able to judge his singing with their own ears!

It was his own wife’s concert. Surely Yang Yi wouldn’t just sit by and do nothing, would he?

The fans had no idea that this guy really had no intention of going onstage!

On the one hand, the concert’s guest singers had already been decided: Chen Yijie and Guo Ziyi. Adding Yang Yi as a third would make him seem to be stealing the spotlight from the main performer!

Of course, the main problem was still that Yang Yi was being lazy and hadn’t properly positioned himself. Yang Yi felt that he should keep a low profile whenever possible. The last time he’d appeared in public, he’d also been forced to do so by circumstances.

The media, which had been keeping a close eye on the hotel, failed to notice that Yang Yi wasn’t among the large group heading to the concert venue at all. Instead, he and Xixi had left from the underground parking lot in a private car that Fu Jun had personally come to pick them up in!

……

On the way, Yang Yi and Fu Jun chatted nonstop in the front seats. Fu Jun had plenty of questions to discuss with Yang Yi about the development of Sahara Online Shopping Mall.

Meanwhile, in the back seat, Fu Jun’s son, Fu Yanbo, kept sneaking glances at Xixi, who was sitting beside him.

Fu Yanbo, who was already in fifth grade this year, was also a half-grown boy. He wasn’t particularly handsome, and his two single-lidded eyes were narrow. At a glance, he seemed like a shy boy, and since he wasn’t very familiar with Xixi yet, he only sneaked glances at her and didn’t dare speak to the little girl.

Xixi turned her head to look at her big brother, and Fu Yanbo immediately sat up straight. The little girl became a little confused. She didn’t know what to say to a brother who was so much older than her, so she simply turned her head back and looked out the car window.

Usually, she always sat in a child safety seat, but today Uncle Fu had forgotten to bring it along, giving her a rare taste of freedom.

So, while the adults in the front seats chatted enthusiastically, the atmosphere in the back seat was rather dull, until they arrived at the zoo, which wasn’t far away anyway.

“Papa, Brother Yanbo kept looking at me.” As Yang Yi carried Xixi out of the car, the little girl whispered in her father’s ear.

“Is that so?” Yang Yi laughed and rubbed Xixi’s little head, saying, “Then did you talk to Brother Yanbo?”

“No.” Xixi shook her head and said, somewhat unconvinced, “But, but Brother Yanbo didn’t talk to me either.”

Meanwhile, Fu Jun took some drinks and snacks out of the trunk. After locking the car, he walked over, with Fu Yanbo following right behind him.

“Come here, Xixi. Look, do you like these snacks Uncle bought for you?” Fu Jun said to Xixi with a smile.

Xixi really was loved by everyone. Seeing how adorable the little girl was, Fu Jun had even forgotten about his own son.

“I like eating them.” Xixi glanced at the bag. There were little cookies inside, as well as the seaweed she often ate at home, so she happily began clapping her little hands.

Yang Yi smiled and said to Fu Jun, “She was just telling me that Yanbo kept looking at her in the car, but he didn’t say anything.”

Hearing this, Xixi shyly hid behind her father, only peeking out with a pair of eyes curved into smiles.

“Yanbo, you’re already a big brother. Why are you still so shy?” Yang Yi teased.

Fu Yanbo scratched his head in slight embarrassment, not knowing how to answer.

“Don’t you keep talking about little sister Xixi at home?” Fu Jun patted his son, then said to Yang Yi with a smile, “He really likes the storybooks you write. Sometimes, he tells his mother that he envies Xixi because she gets to hear you tell stories so often.”

Yang Yi was stunned for a moment, not expecting that this kid was actually one of his fans.

“Let’s go, Yanbo. You need to hold your little sister’s hand and protect her, understand?” Fu Jun said.

“But I’m scared too.” Fu Yanbo obediently took Xixi’s hand, completely unaware of the look Uncle Yang Yi shot at him. However, he said to his father with a troubled expression, “What should I do if a lion comes?”

What could he do? He was helpless too! He couldn’t even protect himself, so how could he protect his little sister?

“Actually, Xixi doesn’t need you to worry too much about her. I’m still here,” Yang Yi said, coughing lightly.

To be honest, if Fu Jun hadn’t told Fu Yanbo to hold Xixi’s hand out of concern for her, Yang Yi would already have found it hard to tolerate a little boy holding Xixi’s hand. Even if he was several years older, it still wasn’t allowed!

Forget it. They were all acquaintances, and he was watching them himself anyway.

At this moment, Xixi shook Fu Yanbo’s hand and said softly, “Brother Yanbo, don’t be afraid. My Papa said they’re locked in cages and can’t get out.”

Fu Jun couldn’t help shaking his head and said, “Look, Yanbo, you don’t know as much as this little girl!”

Fu Yanbo looked embarrassed. He pursed his lips and lowered his head.

“It’s okay. Yanbo gets good grades. Xixi, when you start school in the future, you should learn from Brother Yanbo too. He can get full marks on all his exams,” Yang Yi said with a smile.

“Wow, that’s amazing!” Xixi exclaimed in amazement, not quite understanding just how impressive that was.

Visiting the zoo was a trip that broadened the children’s knowledge.

Xixi was still pretty good. She recognized many animals, but when it came to those she hadn’t learned about, such as hippos and baboons, the little girl was at a bit of a loss.

In front of the baboon enclosure, Xixi and Fu Yanbo had a little argument.

“This is a monkey!” Xixi exclaimed.

“This isn’t a monkey. This is a baboon!” Fu Yanbo had been here before, so he recognized it.

“It is a monkey!” The little girl puffed out her cheeks and said unconvinced.

“Monkeys aren’t this big, and baboons are so ugly!” Fu Yanbo tried his best to correct her.

However, Xixi still insisted on her own opinion and loudly said, “This is a monkey, a monkey with permed hair.”

Behind them, Yang Yi finally couldn’t help laughing. He interrupted the two children’s argument and said to Xixi, “Brother Yanbo is right. This is a baboon, not a monkey. However, you wouldn’t be wrong to call it a monkey either, because baboons also belong to the monkey family.”

This explanation was equivalent to giving each of them 50 points. Both children could accept it. Xixi also felt that she hadn’t been completely wrong, but she obediently listened to her father’s explanation and learned that “baboon” was the proper name for the monkey with permed hair right in front of her.

Yangcheng Zoo was very well maintained and had a wide variety of animals. Xixi even got to see a peacock spreading its tail. While the little girl thoroughly enjoyed the sight, she didn’t forget about her mother and urged her father to take a picture for her.

As for Yang Yi’s dilemma over Fu Yanbo and Xixi holding hands, it came to an end halfway through the trip! Xixi got tired from walking, and Yang Yi secretly rejoiced as he scooped her up. He refused to put her down again, never giving that little brat another chance!

……

When they returned to the hotel in the evening, the southern sky was still faintly bright. Mo Fei, Guo Ziyi, and the others, who had gone to rehearsal that day, had also returned. It looked like everything had gone smoothly.

However, Chen Yijie, who had come from Hong Kong for the rehearsal, had also followed them back to the hotel.

Given Chen Yijie’s status, he didn’t really need to attend the rehearsal, but he also wanted to pay Yang Yi a visit, so he came over early.

As it happened, Yang Yi could also give him the song he’d prepared!
