A series of clangs were heard as if rain was falling on banana leaves. The Iron Corpse Marshal trembled violently as he suffered various degrees of injuries. The flesh around his wounds rolled up.
Although he had moved away from the ground for around 30 metres, he still couldn’t get rid of the storm of attacks.
He growled as his Corpse Qi surged. Following that, he extended his fist, which penetrated the saber phantoms and reached for Lan Zi Yi.
Another clang was heard as Lan Zi Yi crossed her sabers in front of her and accurately warded off the attack. However, she was forced to step backwards upon impact.
The Iron Corpse Marshal suddenly felt alarmed as a great sense of danger gripped him. He turned to look at Lu Ye, who had tried to ambush him earlier. Presently, Lu Ye stood not far away from him as he held a saber in one hand and stared at him with his penetrating gaze. He madly infused his power into the Spell Artifact-level Inviolable Saber, which caused the weapon to turn fiery as though it was burning.
Instantly, the Iron Corpse Marshal realised that Lu Ye was getting prepared for the next attack that would certainly be devastating.
That said, he wasn’t flustered. Regardless of how powerful the attack was, it would be of no use if it couldn’t strike him. Presently, Lu Ye was getting prepared, and Lan Zi Yi had been driven off. The rest of the people weren’t powerful enough to stop him. Therefore, the Iron Corpse Marshal leapt into the air in an attempt to leave this dangerous place.
When his figure was ten metres above the ground, a hand appeared out of nowhere and grabbed his ankle. While he was in shock, he was forcefully pulled down from mid-air.
The next instant, he felt the world around him spinning, and he uncontrollably crashed into the ground.
The owner of the hand had yanked him to the ground like he was a gunny sack.
With a thud, a pit was formed in the ground as a tremor spread in all directions. The cultivators from Jiu Zhou, who were harassed by the Corpse Race members earlier, felt their eyelids twitching.
The next moment, Ju Jia swung his opponent back and forth and repeatedly crashed him into the ground.
Certainly, the Iron Corpse Marshal was enraged. Given his robust body, such a treatment wouldn’t harm him severely, but he had never been humiliated like this before.
When he was getting swung, he suddenly curled up his body. His withered body was like a snake as he climbed onto Ju Jia’s arm and soon rode on his back.
“Go to Hell!” he growled as he clenched Ju Jia’s neck with one hand and extended his other hand towards his opponent’s head, trying to jab it with his sharp nails.
Everyone who saw that was flabbergasted.
A clink was heard. The Iron Corpse Marshal’s pupils dilated as disbelief was written all over his face.
He initially thought he could kill Ju Jia, but much to his surprise, his attack didn’t harm him one bit.
He could see that the moment he struck Ju Jia, the latter diverted his power to his skull as what looked like a shrunk turtle shell appeared above his head. It was so solid that it could easily fend off his attack.
While he was in shock, he suddenly felt a tremendous sense of danger engulfing him.
He lifted his head and saw Lu Ye pouncing on him. After some preparation, his aura became so menacing that even the Iron Corpse Marshal was astounded. Faced with the imminent attack, he felt suddenly afraid, which was a sensation he hadn’t felt in a long time.
Just then, Ju Jia extended his other hand and grabbed the Iron Corpse Marshal’s hand which had clenched his neck.
Since his hand and leg were restricted, the Iron Corpse Marshal was unable to flee. Finally, he was flustered.
Lu Ye leapt into the air and slashed at the Iron Corpse Marshal with his burning saber. After he moved past the two of them, he went on to glide for 30 metres before he managed to stop.
The fire subsided as the original colour was restored to the Inviolable Saber. The dark blade looked dim.
The Iron Corpse Marshal was restricted as he rode on Ju Jia. He looked dazedly ahead as his lips squirmed. It seemed that he was trying to say something, but he couldn’t make a sound.
Ju Jia shook the burden off, but before the Iron Corpse Marshal landed on the ground, his head and body had separated, and stinky blood spurted out of his figure.
Lan Zi Yi approached them from a distance. As she looked at Lu Ye’s figure and the Iron Corpse Marshal on the ground, she sported a conflicted expression.
She knew that the attack Lu Ye had prepared to cast would be powerful, but it turned out to be even more astounding than she thought. She reckoned that she could never pull off a similar feat.
Certainly, she could tell that the saber in Lu Ye’s hand was a Spell Artifact. Also, the moment he cast the attack, he also activated a Glyph to bless his weapon. With so many powers in use, he was able to launch a dazzling attack.
Feeling the warmth from the back of her hand, Lan Zi Yi looked into her Battlefield Imprint. Soon, she was elated because she had acquired quite a good amount of battle points.
It was the benefit she obtained after helping to kill the Iron Corpse Marshal. These were more than just battle points granted to her for destroying an enemy. Regardless of how powerful the Iron Corpse Marshal was, he was only equivalent to a Cloud River Realm Master. There was no difference between killing him and a Ninth-Order Master.
However, killing the enemy wasn’t the only way to acquire battle points. If one could make a contribution in such a battle, he could obtain battle points as well.
It was a reward granted by the Heavens to commend Lan Zi Yi’s contribution.
Anyway, the Iron Corpse Marshal was one of the most powerful Corpse Race members. His death meant significant progress in their mission to eliminate the Corpse Race.
It was just like what had happened in Myriad Beast Domain. At that time, she joined forces with Lu Ye and the others to kill Niu Meng. After the fight, she acquired a lot of battle points as well.
That was the reason she decided to tag along upon realising Lu Ye’s intention. Certainly, she wanted the benefits as well.
Since she got quite some battle points, Lu Ye must’ve acquired even more. Even though the three of them had worked together, it was Lu Ye who killed the Iron Corpse Marshal. He had also made the biggest contribution.
Although the Iron Corpse Marshal was powerful, it only took the three of them ten breaths of time to kill him. The other cultivators from Jiu Zhou at the scene were dumbfounded.
Only then did they realise how weak they were compared with these three people.
They were powerless to deal with the Iron Corpse Marshal earlier, so they could only wait for death. Nevertheless, Lu Ye and the others were able to easily destroy him.
As the winner and the runner-up in the Fight for Supremacy, they indeed lived up to their names.
After the Iron Corpse Marshal was killed, the rest of the Corpse Race members could no longer kick up a storm. These cultivators joined forces and soon eliminated their enemies.
Lu Ye was determined to find the Golden Corpse King, so he left in a hurry after settling the problem.
The three of them continued to wander around and killed even more Corpse Race members, but the Golden Corpse King was nowhere in sight as though he had vanished from this world.
Lu Ye even suspected that Shi Sha might have left the Muddy Sky Temple.
Considering the current situation, the Corpse Race members could no longer turn things around. They would be eliminated by the fervent cultivators from Jiu Zhou sooner or later. Even the Corpse Race members that scattered around the Peerless Continent would be hunted down soon.
After all, an opportunity to easily get battle points like this was rare.
To the cultivators from Jiu Zhou, these hideous and stinky Corpse Race members were like treasures.
The Golden Corpse King wasn’t a fool. Since the situation wasn’t in his favour, he probably wouldn’t stay there.
He looked just like any ordinary Corpse Race member. If he wanted to hide among the corpses, no one could discover him.
Soon, the three of them saw the dead body of the Silver Corpse Marshal.
The battlefield where his body was located was horrendous. Although Lu Ye didn’t witness the battle, he could imagine how appalling it had been.
Many cultivators must have surrounded the Silver Corpse Marshal. Regardless of how formidable the Silver Corpse Marshal was, he was eventually outpowered and killed. The traces on the battlefield showed that the people from Jiu Zhou had paid a huge price in order to destroy the Silver Corpse Marshal.
Just as Lu Ye was about to give up on the search, Lan Zi Yi suddenly said, “Come with me. I think I know where the Golden Corpse King is.”
Lu Ye turned to look at her.
Lan Zi Yi went on to say, “We’ve been overthinking things. We’ve assumed that he’s been hiding among the corpses to attack the cultivators from Jiu Zhou or that he has left this place. In fact, he has done neither of those things.”
“Where is he?” Lu Ye asked.
Lan Zi Yi lifted her gaze and glanced at the highest peak in the distance.
Lu Ye furrowed his brows.
“He’s the first Corpse Race member in the Peerless Continent as well as the Golden Corpse King, so he has his pride and dignity as a king. Now that the situation isn’t in the Corpse Race’s favour, he wouldn’t act like a loser. There’s a palace over there, and he’s right inside.”
As she spoke, she waved her fair hand. “I’ve gathered some information through various means. Some cultivators from Jiu Zhou barged into that place and were killed. No one dares go near there now. Since you couldn’t find him, why didn’t you ask around? Or, do you have no friends?”
A smile played on her lips when she said the last sentence. Her mockery suggested that Lu Ye was a jinx who would have no friends for the rest of his life.
Lu Ye slightly lifted his Inviolable Saber.
“Let’s go. I’ll lead the way for you.” Lan Zi Yi instantly straightened her face and stepped forward.
No one knew the name of the Spirit Peak. This place had been occupied by the Corpse Race for 1,000 years, and many things had changed since then.
Awyay, it was the highest peak in the Muddy Sky Temple, so it was probably the most important as well.
There was a palace on the peak.
In many parts of the Muddy Sky Temple, cultivators from Jiu Zhou were seen contending with the Corpse Race members. Only this peak was void of Humans or Corpse Race members.
As such, Lu Ye started believing Lan Zi Yi’s words. The anomaly in this place showed that something was wrong.
Soon, the three of them landed in front of the palace. Following that, Lu Ye’s gaze turned stern because he could already detect the aura he remembered vividly coming from the hall.
It was the aura of the Golden Corpse King, Shi Sha.
A metallic tang was also exuding from the hall. Some cultivators had barged into this place and were killed some time ago. That was the smell of their blood.
The Golden Corpse King’s aura was powerful and undisguised. He was like an ominous Dragon that stayed inside the hall. Even though he knew he would attract some Dragon Slayers, he didn’t have the intention of hiding somewhere else. He wanted to launch the last epic battle to announce his imminent demise to the world.
That was the king’s dignity!
