“Prince Rudolf…….you’re going back already…….”

Holding my hand, Lizbeth made a lonely looking expression.

Lizbeth’s birthday party had safely come to an end, and the guests were already on their way back home.

Other than the members of the Fahlcrantz family, I was the only one who was still here.

I had originally planned to return a lot earlier but, both Lizbeth and her mother, Lady Fahlcrantz, stopped me from doing so.

And above all else, I too wanted to stay by Lizbeth’s side, if only for a little while longer as well.

But can you even blame me for feeling that way?

I finally got to reunite with the girl from that fateful day nine years ago, and there was still so much I wanted to talk to her about.

To be honest, I just wanted to remain here and talk lots and lots more with her.

“Lady Lizbeth, thank you so much. Today was a day, I don’t think I will ever forget throughout my life.”

“The feeling is mutual. After all, the boy from that day, you, have finally recognized me today.”

“A,ahaha……..it was only because you told me directly though……..”

“Fufu, I suppose so.”

We looked at each other, and then smiled.

If only this moment could go on forever…….

“Now then…….as much as I regret to part with you, it’s time I returned back.”

“Prince Rudolf, please take care……….”

I got on the carriage, and as I looked outside the window after sitting down, I saw Lizbeth wave her hand at me.

I too returned the wave as well.

“Lady Lizbeth, tomorrow as well, I’ll be waiting for you at the Scorpion Palace.”

“! Y-yes, of course!!”

The carriage slowly began to move, and then passed through the Fahlcrantz mansion gates.

Until I couldn’t see the figure of Lizbeth waving at me, I continued to look at her.

“phew………..by the way, how long are you planning to stay that way?”

After I returned home, Maya prostrated before me.

And I was still baffled over why she was acting like this.

“Under the orders of Lady Lizbeth, I had been observing and spying on you my prince. No amount of apologies can be enough while asking for forgiveness.”

Unlike the usual Maya, she spoke in a much more monotonous tone, and sounded more matter-of-fact yet also detached.

Probably, this was her original real self, as Lizbeth’s maid-slash-guard that is.

Haaah……..seriously, fine, it can’t be helped……..

“Maya.”

“!? Y-your highness!?”

I knelt in front of the prostrating Maya and imitated her pose myself.

“Thanks to you observing me……..and noticing my one and only treasure, I was able to reunite with the one girl that is more important, and more precious to me than anyone in the whole world. For that, I give you my utmost thanks.”

“T-that’s…….My Prince, please stop this, right now!”

“No, no amount of gratitude I give you is enough. Thanks to meeting Lizbeth…….thanks to recognizing the girl from that day, you cannot even imagine how much I have been saved. How happy I have become.”

I spoke the honest truth, my true feelings to Maya.

If not for Maya, I would have become the tyrant from the history books, would have missed Lizbeth due to Wilhelm’s lies, and then would have spiralled straight towards my destiny of being killed by her hands.

It was likely, that I was headed towards such a tragic end.

“That’s why, Maya…….if you are okay with it, I would like you to continue working by my side, as my personal attendant. As the person who connected me and Lizbeth once more, I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side.”

“Ah…………really? Are you truly okay with that………..?”

“Of course. And I have already gotten Lady Lizbeth’s permission in that regard as well.”

Saying that, I took Maya’s hand, and grinned.

“Understood. Maya Brant, with my body and soul on the line, will continue to serve both Prince Rudolf, and Lady Lizbeth in every way possible.”

“Good. Ah but, I would prefer if you could continue to act with me like you used to before.”

The more relaxed, and easy to talk to Maya from yesterday and before, was definitely more calming for me too.

The Maya right now is, how do I put this, she has a bit more brutal atmosphere to her.

“Understood. Then, I’ll continue to act as before then. And on that note……..”

“Uwhawhawha!?!”

“Change your clothes quickly and go take a bath already!”

Maya showed her usual smile, and began to forcibly take off my clothes.

N-no, well, I mean, I was the one who asked for the old Maya but, I do wish she’d show a bit more restraint, or rather, be a bit more considerate though……..

While being manhandled by her, I could only smile wryly.
