My Gratitude for this Miracle
“So…….how are things on that side?”
Returning to my room, and while trying on my new uniform, I questioned Maya.
Of course, it was in regards to Wilhelm and Robin, and also Oscar.
“In regards to Robin, with his connection to Queen Alicia cut, most of the nobles that were supporting him have started to pull out, as if they were running away. Among those, the Andersen family was also one of those.”
“!?”
That was of course the household Robin’s fiancée, Lady Sheila belonged to.
Finally, even the chief of his faction has abandoned him it would seem.
“………well, that guy actually ignored her own fiancée, and has fallen for his younger brother’s fiancée instead. He might as well have thrown mud directly in Lord Andersen’s face after all.”
“Soon, their engagement will be officially broken as well, and Queen Alicia has also accepted that fact. But………”
“But?”
“that man………Robin has been actually acting very happy about that news, and has been even known to be talking about how [he can finally shower Lizbeth with love without restraint] at the academy as well.”
That guy really is the absolute worst huh.
But, that explains why the letters from him have started coming back again.
Of course, Maya was tasked with burning them without fail though.
“Then, what about Lady Sheila……?’
“Nothing unusual just yet. She seems to be taking part in tea parties with other noble ladies as normal as well, and she doesn’t seem to be very bothered by their broken engagement either.”
“I see……..”
Hearing that, I felt a little relieved.
I had of course never met Lady Sheila, however, I imagine it must have been painful to have been betrayed by your fiancé and have your engagement broken I imagine.
Just imagining what I’d do if Liz did that to me, my heart feels like it would burst open.
“Next up, as for Wilhelm, apparently his older brother……..meaning, Svalier family’s eldest son has fallen ill and is bedridden.”
“Ill, you say……..”
I see. I have feeling his older brother will die from that illness.
And that’s how Wilhelm will become the heir to the Svalier family like in the history books.
“Lastly, Prince Oscar is continuing to gather more nobles to his cause. Among those, there aren’t just the nobles that were originally under Robin, there’s even some that were with Prince Fredrik as well.”
“That’s…….”
“The nobles that have switched to Prince Oscar’s camp, did so after seeing the discord between Robin and Fredrik, ……no, queen Alicia, and made that decision.”

Seriously, I doubt even Queen Alicia ever imagined that Robin alone would end up manipulating her so much.
But……..I’m sure Oscar took Robin in because he had probably expected something like this to happen.
I recalled Ocar’s eyes when I saw him then two months ago, and I felt that my deduction was right.
In any case, if they plan on causing harm to me or Liz, I will show them no mercy whatsoever.
“Thank you. As expected of Maya.”
“You flatter me milord.”
Maya bowed deeply and in a dignified manner.
Normally she acts a lot more relaxed and friendly, partly because I requested it as well, but when she’s doing her actual work like this, she reverts to her usual excellent spy-esque mannerisms.
“So, Prince Rudolf, what do you plan on doing next?”
“For now we wait and watch……….is what I’d like to say but, it’s clear that Robin’s been getting a bit too cocky, and I’m sure brother Oscar won’t miss this chance to further build up his strength.”
“Then…….?”
“I’m thinking it’s time to make it public that I have joined hands with brother Fredrik. And of course, also the fact that Lord Fahlcrantz is back me as well.”
My engagement with Lizbeth has very recently been made public but, because of Robin’s known attraction to her as well, there are people that are doubting it and are expecting my engagement with her to be broken as well.
Also, they don’t really believe that Lord Fahlcrantz has suddenly decided to take a side in the succession battle after staying neutral for so long as well.
Then, we’ll use that against them, and tip the power balance to our side instead.
“Understood. Then, I’ll go and inform this to the Master as well.”
“Yeah. I’ll talk directly to him during my training too.”
My training with the Marquis continued even after my victory against Lizbeth as well.
Thanks to that, right now I am able to win around once every ten times against him. Of course, the Marquis was holding back against me though.
“Now then, I can’t let Liz wait for me any longer. Let’s head to her room.”
“Of course.”
With Maya, who returned to her usual self, in tow, we headed to Liz’s room.
And there…
“uwaaaaa……..!!”
“auuu…….”
Seeing Liz in her uniform, I couldn’t help but exclaim loudly in admiration.
What do I do? My Liz is so adorable, I want to pick her up and take her home with me. We’re already in my palace though.
“A-as I thought, Liz you’re the prettiest girl in the whole world! To have this girl as my fiancée, gods I am truly blessed!!”
“auauau!? I can’t take any more of that! Please, stop saying such things so directly!!”
Liz hid her face while saying that but, I could clearly see that her lips were smiling from the compliments.
Liz is quick to get embarrassed and a little awkward so she’s not very good against compliments though.
But, it still makes her happy, and delighted for sure. I learnt that over the course of last year.
“Lord R-rudy as well, you look great……..if anything, I’m worried that other girls might fall in love with you as well.”
“hau!?”
Sh-shit, Liz actually countered back.
Am I happy? Hell yeah I am.
Anyway.
“Liz……..I am, truly, genuinely glad that I met you. And I want to continue being happy with you far, far into the future as well.”
“The feeling is mutual. To have met you, is the greatest joy of my life, Lord Rudy.”
We held each other’s hands, and stared into each other’s eyes.
My destiny was to become a tyrant, but after recalling the memories of my past life as a villager, I was able to avoid that horrible future.
And now.
“Lord Rudy……….”
The woman that was supposed to assassinate me according to the [war records of WIlhelm], the lady of Ice, was in fact the woman of my destiny from that fateful day, and was now my most precious fiancée.
“Liz, take care of me, once we’re students at the academy as well, okay?”
“Likewise. I’ll be in your care as well. My dear Lord Rudy.”
And so, while giving our gratitude to the miracle that brought us together, we slowly and gently touched our foreheads together.
