Chapter 75

I hope you recognize it!

Lizbeth Fahlcrantz POV

“The time limit is two hours. And start!”

With the signal from the embroidery instructor, we all passed the needle through the handkerchief in front of us.

We were allowed to design it however we wished so, I am thinking of going with that design.

But.

“………This isn’t turning out too well.”

I thread the needle to restart again, and then once again passed it through the handkerchief.

This had been repeated a couple of times now but, as expected, I was not very good with these things……..

“I wonder if Lord Rudy will be disillusioned if he saw me like this…….”

Of course, knowing how kind and gentle Lord Rudy always was, I know he would never come to dislike me for such a small matter.

But even so, simply imagining him drop his shoulders, even if only a little, because of me, makes me feel like my chest will burst open.

Haah……..If I knew it’d be like this, I really should have asked mother or Maya to teach me a bit more……..ah.

“No! Now’s not the time to be feeling dejected! I need to finish the embroidery to the best of my ability and then hand it over to Lord Rudy!”

I recollected myself, and then focused on my work again.

It was then.

“Lady Lizbeth, is something the matter?”

“Miss Sheila………”

Of all the people, Miss Sheila suddenly came to my side.

Just what does she want from me now……..

“Lady Lizbeth, I imagine you are planning to make that into a present for Prince Rudolf, correct?”

“……..uh, well, sort of.”

Hearing her innocent question, I could only give a vague answer.

Miss Sheila had joined hands with Lord Rudy to take down Prince Robin but, I still haven’t been able bring myself to trust this girl.

Above all, this girl really tried seduce my Lord Rudy as well. If possible I’d keep her out of a 10m radius around Lord Rudy ……..no, out of his sights entirely if possible.

“How nice………if only I too had a nice fiancé like Prince Rudolf.”

Saying that, Miss Sheila stuck out her tongue in a sly manner.

I’m sure that all of these actions, and gestures of hers must seem quite adorable and charming to others.

…………unfortunately, these things don’t work on me however.

Of course, I’m very well aware that my lack of sociability and my habits of focussing more on martial arts practice has earned me the nickname of ‘Lady of Ice’ from my surroundings.

I am quite self aware that I’m not the most charming person to be with.

But, that’s all fine.

Because I have Lord Rudy who loves me dearly for who I am regardless.

In fact, I don’t need anyone other than Lord Rudy in my life. And I’d prefer if they stayed away from me as well.

And yet………why do I always end up getting involved with fowl men like that Prince Robin and Wilhelm I wonder…….

My head began to ache, and I inadvertently shook my head.

“Lady Lizbeth, are you perhaps feeling unwell?”

Before I realized it, Miss Sheila was peeking a look at my face with a worried expression.

“n-no, I am fine. I simply ended up recalling something quite unpleasant that’s all…….”

“Oh………”

Perhaps she too noticed something, as Miss Sheila seemed to have a distant look on her face.

Probably, she did the same……..and must have remembered Prince Robin as well.

“Ho-however, Miss Sheila you always seem so charming and sweet so I’m sure there are plenty of dashing gentlemen trying to court you, no?”

To switch the topic, I asked such a thing.

In truth, there were indeed a bunch of men who always seemed to be staring at Miss Sheila with passionate gazes.

“………Being courted by the riffraff only causes a headache and nothing more.”

“Oh……….”

Hearing her words, I also agreed with a distant look on my face.

“That said, it really depends on how you see it. Even those lot can be surprisingly useful at times you know?”

“I-is that so……..”

As I thought, I don’t think I will ever be like Miss Sheila.

My expression is stoic, I lack charm like hers, and even when people talk to me, I can only coldly reply back.

Lord Rudy is always being considerate around me, and whenever I see him talk freely with Maya, I get filled with envy.

And I hate that part of me.

……….I’m sure that even Lord Rudy will eventually get tired of such a troublesome woman like me.

“But still………I’m actually quite jealous of you, Lady Lizbeth.”

“jealous………of me, you say?”

“Yes!”

Smiling, Miss Sheila spoke but I could only tilt my head to the side in confusion.

Just what about me would have you be jealous of………?

“Ehehe. I was thinking about this when we met for dinner last week but, it always seems like Prince Rudolf only has eyes for you Lady Lizbeth and no one else. And he would always look so happy just from seeing even the smallest change in your expression as well.”

“Eh…………?”

Hearing Miss Sheila’s words, I inadvertently leaked a confused sound.

If that was really true then, nothing would make me happier.

“Not just that, Prince Rudolf even has a habit of always keeping you by his side, as if he wants to chain you to him, Lady Lizbeth. I realized this but his highness is quite alike yourself, and his love is also similarly heavy………no, deep, as well.”

“auu………….”

Hearing all that directly made my cheeks flush and face turn hot.

Lord Rudy……..

“Only 30mins left.”

“Ah……..ehehe, we should hurry up and finish this.”

“Yes.”

I nodded to Miss Sheila’s words, and once again concentrated on the embroidery.

I wonder if Lord Rudy would feel happy when he gets this handkerchief………

It was so poorly designed that simply carrying it around would bring shame to him and yet, if he were to recognize it, I swear, this Lizbeth might ascend to heaven from happiness there and then.

With such fleeting hopes in my heart, and with my feelings all sewn into it, I stitched through the cloth one movement after another slowly, and carefully.

“Uwaah, this expression………no wonder Prince Rudolf is so head over heels with her. How cute. Simply heavenly.”

I feel like Miss Sheila was muttering something but, I was so focused on my work that I couldn’t be bothered to properly listen.

I’m sure it wasn’t anything important so I should ignore it.

And so.

“That’s time.”

The teacher announced the end of the time limit, and my handkerchief was finally finished.

“Lady Lizbeth, may I ask what is that design on your handkerchief?”

“fufu, it’s a secret I’m afraid.”

Miss Sheila pointed at the finished handkerchief and asked but I simply took a page out of her book, and smiled teasingly with my tongue stuck out.
