Chapter 812: Fiancée??
Chapter 812: Fiancée??
Julian was walking through the main corridor of the castle when he saw two women talking among themselves. He immediately recognized them: Vanessa and Olivia.
Olivia was clad in her usual tempting yet commanding dress – a deep emerald gown that hugged her mature curves perfectly. Vanessa, beside her, looked more striking than usual in an elegant lavender dress that flowed gracefully around her figure.
They were talking about something between themselves, and their expressions suggested it was something good. Julian approached them, and they immediately noticed his presence. Their faces brightened. Vanessa rushed to him and took his hand in both of hers.
“Brother, you are here!” she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine excitement.
Olivia, however, could not meet his gaze. She looked at him once, then quickly averted her eyes, a faint blush creeping up her neck.
Julian smiled inwardly at that. She still had not recovered from their last session together. The memory of her on her knees, her hands wrapped around him, whispering filthy confessions while stroking him to completion, was still fresh in both their minds.
“What’s the matter, Vanessa?” he asked, keeping his tone light as he squeezed her hand gently. “You look excited today.”
Vanessa beamed, practically bouncing on her toes. “Yes! Count Azmed is coming to our duchy today!”
Julian’s brow furrowed at that. Count Azmed.
He tried recalling Kraven’s memories, but there was nothing. He could find nothing related to this Count Azmed, and Kraven’s residual patterns showed no particular interest in the name either.
“Count Azmed,” he repeated in confusion.
“Yes,” Vanessa replied, her excitement undimmed. “And your fiancée is also coming.”
Julian’s eyes widened completely. “Fiancée?” he repeated and his voice came out sharper and louder than intended.
What was going on? Kraven had a fiancée?
Seeing his reaction, both Olivia and Vanessa looked equally confused. Olivia finally lifted her gaze to meet his, though her cheeks were still faintly flushed from the memories she was clearly trying to suppress.
“Kraven,” Olivia said in a low tone, her voice carrying a hint of concern. “Why are you acting surprised?”
Julian quickly composed himself and rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish expression to sell the act.
“Mother, I drank quite a bit yesterday, so my mind is still disoriented. Forgive me. It must have slipped my mind in the haze.”
Vanessa giggled and squeezed his hand tighter. “You really must have drunk a lot, brother. How could you forget about Lady Elara? Count Azmed’s daughter? Your betrothal was arranged years ago. She has been away at the capital for training, but now she’s finally returning with her father. The whole duchy is buzzing about it. It’s a perfect opportunity to strengthen ties with House Azmed, especially with everything going on.”
Olivia nodded slowly, though her eyes still held a trace of lingering unease as she looked at him.
“It’s true. The King himself approved the match years ago. Lady Elara is a talented mage in her own right, early Sovereign stage, I believe. Her arrival could be very beneficial for the family.”
Julian forced a smile, his mind racing to process this new information. A fiancée. Another complication in an already tangled web. Kraven’s memories were fragmented at best when it came to personal relationships, but this felt important: a political alliance that could either help or hinder his plans.
“I see,” he said, keeping his tone neutral. “Then I suppose I should prepare myself to meet her properly. It’s been a while.”
Vanessa beamed again, clearly thrilled. “You should! She’s very beautiful, brother. And intelligent too. I think you two will get along wonderfully once you spend some time together.”
Olivia remained quieter and her gaze dropped once more as she smoothed the front of her gown. The mention of another woman, a potential wife for Kraven, seemed to stir something uncomfortable in her.
Julian noticed it immediately.
The mother-son intimacy they had shared was still raw for her, and the idea of him being betrothed to someone else clearly complicated her already conflicted feelings.
“Shall we walk together?” Vanessa suggested, still holding his hand. “Mother and I were just heading to the main hall to oversee the preparations. You can join us.”
Julian nodded and fell into step beside them. As they walked, Vanessa chattered excitedly about the upcoming visit, details about Lady Elara’s accomplishments, the political benefits, and how it might shift the balance within the duchy. Olivia contributed occasionally, but her responses were more measured.

Julian learned that Count Azmed was like a family friend, and that House Azmed had strongly supported the Astran Duchy in the past, providing resources, troops, and political backing during difficult times. He also learned that Vanessa and Lady Elara were childhood friends.
The conversation continued for about five more minutes, filled with Vanessa’s excited chatter about old memories and potential festivities. When they reached a quiet corner of the corridor, Vanessa stopped and turned to face him.
“I’ll go ahead,” she said brightly. “I have to talk with Father about some things. Make sure you both come to the main hall soon. We need to prepare properly for their arrival!”
With that, she gave Julian’s hand one last squeeze and hurried off down the corridor, her lavender dress swaying gracefully behind her. The sound of her footsteps faded, leaving Julian and Olivia alone in the quiet hallway.
A suffocating silence settled between them almost immediately.
The air felt heavier, thicker, as if the walls themselves were aware of the secrets they shared. Olivia stood a few steps away, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. She could not bring herself to look at him directly.
Julian waited patiently, letting the silence stretch. He could feel the tension radiating from her: the guilt, the confusion and the lingering heat of what they had done. It was almost amusing how hard she tried to maintain the image of the dignified Duchess while her body clearly remembered every touch.
