I AM A MAGE BUT WITH MILF SYSTEM

Chapter 825: Phoenix Dance

Chapter 825: Phoenix Dance

Julian dodged to the side, but his eyes never once left the guardian towering above him. He could sense the immense mana fueling the summon, and beneath it, a faint but unmistakable instability.

Elara was pushing herself hard, perhaps too hard, to maintain something so complex and demanding. He countered with a focused blast of fire, striking the guardian’s arm and causing it to splash apart momentarily before the water surged back together and reformed as though nothing had happened at all.

The water guardian did not wait. It surged forward, and the ground itself seemed to groan beneath the sheer weight of its presence.

SPLOOSH!!

Its massive palm slammed downward again, and this time Julian barely rolled clear before the courtyard stones where he had been standing shattered under a hammer of compressed water. Chunks of shattered rock spun into the air and clattered back down, and a fine mist of spray drifted over the barrier like morning fog.

“Impressive,” Julian muttered, pushing himself back to his feet, “but predictable.”

He raised both hands and wove a quick gesture in the air.

Twin bolts of fire, each the size of a spear, screamed toward the guardian’s shoulder.

THWOOM!!

THWOOM!!

The fire struck perfectly and managed to boil straight through the water, forcing a wide hole through the limb. But before the smoke had even cleared, the missing water surged back in from the guardian’s core to refill it.

Elara’s brow was damp with sweat now, her jaw tight with concentration. Maintaining a summon of this scale meant constantly feeding it a stream of her own mana, and every strike Julian landed forced her to divert even more mana just to keep the guardian whole. She could feel the drain pulling her down and a dull ache spread from her chest.

But she refused to let it show in her voice.

“Don’t celebrate yet,” she called out. “She’s only getting started.”

The guardian tilted its head, and its flowing hair lashed outward like living whips. Each strand hardened into something closer to blades. They cracked through the air, faster than Julian expected, and he threw up a wall of solidified flame just in time. The impact sent a shockwave rattling across the barrier.

CRACK!!! HISSSSS!!

Steam exploded outward where fire met water, and for a moment the entire courtyard was swallowed in a thick white cloud. Julian’s eyes narrowed, tracking the faint shimmer of movement within the fog rather than relying on sight alone. He could feel it before he saw it – a wave of pressure building somewhere close, and he threw himself sideways just as a fist the size of a boulder tore through the space he had occupied a heartbeat earlier.

BOOM!!!

The stone beneath him cratered on impact, and the shockwave alone was enough to send him skidding backward.

Outside the barrier, the crowd had gone eerily quiet, the earlier gasps and murmurs replaced by tense, held breath.

Julian rose slowly and for the first time, there was no trace of his earlier composed smile.

“Alright,” he said quietly, more to himself than to her. “That one actually hurt.”

He was not losing. Not yet. But he was no longer simply toying with her.

He surged forward this time instead of waiting, closing the distance with a burst of speed wrapped in flame. He then drove a fist covered in fire straight into the guardian’s midsection.

FWOOSH.

The water hissed violently around the point of impact, boiling and screaming as steam cried outward. But the guardian barely staggered before its long arms wrapped around him.

“Julian!” Vanessa’s voice cracked from beyond the barrier.

Julian gritted his teeth against the crushing pressure, and with a sharp burst of heat he forced the arms to boil away entirely. STEAAAM hissed violently in every direction as he tore himself free.

That seemed to have affected Elara.

She staggered and her legs wobbled violently before she caught herself. She was forcing her spine straight through sheer will alone. Her mana reserves were thinning fast… faster than she wanted to admit, but she pressed on, feeding another wave of power into the guardian’s core.

“Water Cascade!”

The guardian raised both arms overhead, and above Julian’s head an enormous sphere of condensed water began to form. It swelled larger and larger with each passing second, until it looked ready to swallow half the courtyard whole.

Julian’s eyes widened slightly, the first genuine flicker of concern crossing his features. This was no longer a simple exhibition. He planted his feet, drew in a sharp breath, and gathered every ounce of flame he could summon into both palm.

“Fine,” he said, a slow, sharp grin finally returning to his face.

“Phoenix Dance.”

The air itself seemed to ignite, shimmering with an unnatural heat that warped the very fabric of reality. For the first few seconds, nothing happened…. just an eerie, breathless stillness as though the world itself held its breath in anticipation. Then, slowly, a towering shape of pure flame began to materialize above him, rising with majesty and grace.

Its colossal wings unfurled in a slow, powerful sweep. It was wide enough to eclipse the sky beyond the barrier, casting the ancient stones of the duchy in flickering shadows of gold and crimson.

A phoenix.

The legendary bird threw back its head, and a piercing cry tore through the courtyard.

SKREEEEEE!!

The temperature spiked instantly. Sweat that had already gathered on Julian’s brow evaporated in a hiss, and the mist still clinging to the ground from the earlier clash burned away in seconds, leaving the stones beneath bone dry and cracking from the heat alone.

The Water Guardian raised its arms defensively, but the heat radiating from the phoenix was already making the condensed water above Julian hiss and scream as they met head to head.

“Elara, watch out!” Vanessa’s voice cracked from beyond the barrier, but it was already too late to matter.

The phoenix dove.

BOOOOOOM.

The impact was catastrophic. Flame met water in a detonation of light and pressure that sent a visible shockwave rippling outward. For a single, terrible instant, the barrier meant to contain the entire duel groaned under a strain it was never built to hold. Cracks spread like spiderwebs across its shimmering surface, and then, with a sound like the world tearing in half, the barrier shattered.
