Chapter 501
Chapter 501
Embroidery Diagram
"Yao Qing, this is..."
"Oh, they are Sister Zhiwei's friends. This is... uh..." Yao Qing was about to introduce Chen Ling, but his expression suddenly became a bit strange because he realized he didn't even know their names.
"Hello, Teacher Xiao. I am Yang Xiao. My main research field is electromagnetism, and I'm a colleague of Dr. Su." Yang Xiao took the initiative to step forward and introduce himself.
"So you are Zhiwei's colleague... Hello, hello." Xiao Chunping shook the hand Yang Xiao extended and smiled kindly. "Our Zhiwei has been smart and capable since she was young. Her parents passed away early, and I'm considered half an elder to her... Please take good care of our Zhiwei in the future."
"I wouldn't dare..."
After the two exchanged pleasantries, Xiao Chunping shifted her gaze and finally landed on Chen Ling.
"And this... is also Zhiwei's colleague?"
Su Zhiwei opened her mouth, at a loss for how to introduce Chen Ling. Everything about Chen Ling seemed to be a mystery. No one knew where he came from, nor did anyone know what kind of power he possessed.
However, at a time like this, she certainly couldn't tell the truth. Just as Su Zhiwei was about to say that he was also her colleague, Chen Ling calmly spoke up.
"My name is Chen Ling. I am Su Zhiwei's friend."
"Friend..."
Xiao Chunping raised her head, staring into Chen Ling's eyes for a long time before nodding. "Zhiwei rarely brings friends home... You two must have a very good relationship, right?"
"Yes, not bad."
"Grandma, it's rare for Sister Zhiwei to come back, so I thought I'd bring her to have some fun. After all, she hasn't seen you for a long time... These two happen to be guests at Sister Zhiwei's house, and I thought since we have plenty of rooms here, I'd invite them along." Yao Qing winked at Yang Xiao and Chen Ling. "They also happen to be interested in your embroidery diagrams, so they came to observe and learn."
"Yes, that's right," Yang Xiao nodded stiffly in response.
Chen Ling silently watched Xiao Chunping without saying a word.
"That's good, that's good... Our home hasn't been this lively in a long time." Xiao Chunping took off her reading glasses, slowly shuffled back to the embroidery diagram, and smiled. "It's getting late. Yao Qing, go prepare rooms for Zhiwei and the two guests. Grandma will finish embroidering this diagram first."
"Alright!"
Yao Qing led everyone out of the room, casually closing the door behind them. "Follow me, the living quarters are this way."
Chen Ling and the other two followed behind Yao Qing, walking through the museum. Only after they had walked a considerable distance did Chen Ling look at Yao Qing and speak.
"What's the matter? Aren't you afraid I'm a scammer anymore?"
Yao Qing glanced back at him and snorted softly. "I admit that you are indeed very formidable. However, I won't trust you that easily. After all, the things you said are a bit too far-fetched, like calligraphy, medicine, military, yellow, green, art, chess, and what not...
"But at least you harbor no ill will toward Sister Zhiwei. Moreover, my grandmother is getting old, and no matter what, she can't be dragged into this. So helping you guys cover up is something I can do."
As he spoke, everyone arrived at the second floor on the side of the museum. It looked like dedicated guest rooms, though they hadn't been used in a long time.
"Sister Zhiwei, this room is yours."
Yao Qing pushed open the first door, revealing a suite spanning over a hundred square meters. It was fully equipped with a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The floors and desks were spotless, as if someone frequently came to clean.
Su Zhiwei walked in with some surprise. She picked up an old-fashioned metal pencil case from the desk, shaking it to produce a jingling sound.
"Isn't this..."
"It's the pencil case you gave me in middle school." Yao Qing scratched his head. "You said you used it when you were in school, and then I used it all the way through high school... Since pencils are rarely used in college nowadays, it has been kept here ever since... Oh, and the clothes you bought for me in the past are all in that cabinet over there, though I can't wear them anymore after growing taller."
Su Zhiwei opened the pencil case in her hand. Inside were ordinary pencils and an eraser, and the inside of the lid still retained the student ID card she had pasted on back then. Time had made the photo on it somewhat yellowed, but not a single speck of dust stuck to it.
She closed the pencil case and sighed helplessly.
"These are all old items from seven or eight years ago. I thought you would have thrown them all away when you moved..."
"How is that possible!" Yao Qing said firmly. "I've kept everything you gave me perfectly. Even if I were thrown away, they couldn't be!"
After leading Su Zhiwei to her room, Yao Qing took Chen Ling and Yang Xiao to the corridor opposite and pointed at two of the rooms.
"Those two are yours... Because there is only one suite, the other rooms are relatively small."
Chen Ling opened the door and found that it was only about fifty or sixty square meters, similar to a hotel room. Although it was small, everything was quite clean... But compared to Su Zhiwei's room, it was a world of difference. Su Zhiwei's room didn't look like a guest room at all; rather, it seemed like a room specially reserved for her.
Of course, Chen Ling wasn't picky. For him, having a place to rest his feet was enough.
After making arrangements for everyone, Yao Qing returned to his own room. The rooms he and Xiao Chunping lived in were both on the other side of the museum, quite a distance away from the rooms of Chen Ling and the others.
"Is it already past eleven..."
Chen Ling returned to his room, yet he felt no trace of sleepiness.
For him, only a few hours had passed since entering the Timeline Save File, and he was well-rested before coming, completely eliminating the need to eat or sleep... Although he didn't need to rest, Yang Xiao, Su Zhiwei, and the others were exhausted. Sleep was indispensable for them.
Chen Ling just lay on the bed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling above, still pondering Nie Yu's movements in his mind.
Counting the time, that guy should be arriving in Gusu right about now. However, the Su Estate had already been cleared out, and the assassins responsible for tailing them had all been dealt with by him. Nie Yu's clues should be completely cut off... Tomorrow morning, he could change his face and stroll around the Su Estate to see if he could track down Nie Yu instead.
Just as Chen Ling was deep in thought, his mind suddenly stirred, and a feeling of being spied upon rose from the bottom of his heart!
"Who is it?!"
Chen Ling abruptly sat up from the bed. A hint of apricot red bloomed at the corners of his eyes, his gaze swiftly sweeping across his surroundings.
The guest room was dead silent. Under the dim night sky, apart from the faint starlight outside the window, there was no other light in the room... Chen Ling's eyes scanned his surroundings inch by inch, his brows furrowing unconsciously.
However, Chen Ling didn't find any suspicious items or creatures in the room, nor did he sense any electronic surveillance, but the feeling of being spied upon still persisted.
Chen Ling's frown deepened. With his current eyesight, if there was really something in the room, he would definitely be able to detect it... But now, he had searched for several minutes without finding the source of that prying sensation, making the unease in his heart grow even stronger.
After a brief hesitation, Chen Ling got up, put on his shoes, walked straight to the guest room door, and pushed it open.
No matter what, he couldn't stay in this room any longer.
Following Chen Ling's departure, a framed puppy embroidery diagram placed on the desk in the guest room suddenly blinked. As if coming to life, it turned its head to look in the direction Chen Ling had left.
In the next moment, its limbs sprang into action, and with a blur, its figure vanished from the snow-white canvas, heading to who knows where...
