I Am the Fated Villain

Chapter 1823

Chapter 1823. The Lord of Heaven’s Proxy Was Indeed Him — The Zhengyi Alliance Completely Collapses

The Land of the Dark Source was silent and cold, as though it had been this way since eternity itself, forgotten by all worlds.

A World Tree that had long since withered and died stood within it. Not a trace of life remained in its branches and leaves—only coldness, deathly stillness, darkness, and profundity…

Rumble…

Yet at that moment, terrifying sounds like mountains collapsing and seas roaring echoed throughout the region. Every dark mountain range was crumbling apart.

The earth split into countless fragments. The sky cracked open like sheets of shattered glass. At the edges of the heavens, horrifying black flames emerged, burning around the broken fragments of the sky as they continuously fell toward the ground.

In the dim heavens, six hazy lights appeared in the distance. They were already extremely faint and blurry.

One Great Dao rune after another emerged from within them, transforming into torrents of power, seemingly attempting to suppress the violently trembling World Tree and prevent the existence sealed beneath it from breaking free.

The six hazy lights were shrouded in chaotic mist. Within them could vaguely be seen the shadows of six different weapons: an ancient mirror, a gateway, a pool, a coffin, a wheel, and a Dao scripture.

However, it was obvious that these six weapons were merely projections rather than real objects. They were steadily growing dimmer, while the residual power they left behind was being erased.

The withered World Tree continued cracking apart. Fractures spread across every branch and leaf like cracks on porcelain. It seemed as though the slightest touch would shatter it into endless fragments and ashes.

As the blood-colored passageway that stretched across heaven and earth entered the Land of the Dark Source, it was as though a connecting hub had finally been established between two vast worlds.

Originally, the Land of the Dark Source had been steadily and slowly descending toward the Boundless Worlds.

But now its direction suddenly changed.

Another world appeared beyond the myriad realms—a similarly sinister world filled with dark energy. That dark universe was boundless and infinite.

It seemed to be…the homeland of the Dark Creatures.

The Land of the Dark Source altered the direction of its descent and began moving toward that equally dark world. The two worlds were separated by an immeasurable distance and should never have been able to connect.

Yet the appearance of the blood-colored passageway was like a crimson campfire lit in endless darkness, providing coordinates and guidance.

“The Grand Sacrifice is about to begin.”

Across the Boundless Worlds—within endless spacetime and countless universes—every living being heard a cold voice echo beside their ears.

The barriers of heaven and earth became transparent. Within that vast and limitless dark world, an incomparably enormous altar appeared.

A blurry figure stood upon it, concealed within dense fog. Only its cold and emotionless voice resounded throughout all realms.

Every living being trembled in terror. Their souls felt as though they were about to be extinguished and transformed into formless wisps drifting toward that gigantic altar.

Regardless of which True World civilization they belonged to, regardless of their sect or race, all could only feel boundless fear and trembling.

Around the massive altar appeared four indistinct figures. They seemed to be wearing ancient sacrificial robes.

Kneeling before the altar, they appeared to be chanting some form of sacrificial scripture. Their obscure and incomprehensible tones seemed to travel from across the River of Time itself.

Various Dao symbols appeared around them, transforming into terrifying powers—vast, ancient, mysterious, and unfathomable. In the end, they became a storm that swept across the dark world.

All living beings witnessed that behind the dark world stood an endless sea of Dark Creatures.

Silent.

Solemn.

Motionless.

They knelt and prostrated themselves in worship.

As terrifying blood-red lightning bolts tore through the heavens, the dark world was illuminated with complete clarity.

Like an endless black ocean stretching beyond sight. Infinite Dark Creatures knelt there coldly and lifelessly, quietly awaiting the beginning of the grand sacrificial ceremony.

The sight filled every being in the Boundless Worlds with despair and horror.

A cruel despair. A terrifying hopelessness.

Everyone felt icy chills sweep through their bodies as they stared helplessly, unable to move.

The grand sacrifice of the Dark Creatures had finally arrived.

Far sooner than anyone had imagined.

While the Heaven-Defying Alliance and the Zhengyi Alliance were locked in brutal war…

While the Boundless Worlds were consumed by chaos…

The Dark Creatures had taken advantage of the situation. Even more horrifying was the fact that all living beings now heard a dreadful breathing sound beside their ears.

It seemed impossibly close. Every universe could hear it. No matter how powerful a cultivator was, their scalp tingled with fear.

Their very souls seemed frozen. The sound resembled breathing. Yet it was also like some indescribable sleeping existence slowly awakening.

The overwhelming terror and dread drove people into despair. Within the Land of the Dark Source, as the six weapon projections completely vanished, the withered World Tree instantly disintegrated into ashes.

Nothing remained.

Endless dark matter surged upward like a reversed waterfall, rushing toward the heavens.

Vaguely, a terrifying will seemed to be awakening from within.

Many powerful beings thought they saw a pair of indifferent eyes. Those eyes were terrifying beyond measure.

Like the force that created heaven and earth.

Space collapsed.

Time twisted.

All worlds seemed destined to return to deathly silence.

Though nothing could be seen within the darkness itself—those dreadful eyes alone hung there, overlooking the heavens and gazing upon all creation.

The vision lasted only an instant before disappearing like an illusion.

Yet everyone was certain they had not seen wrongly. The Dark Creatures had begun the Grand Sacrifice.Their goal was to open the Land of the Dark Source and awaken the will of the Lord of Heaven’s Proxy sealed within.

Meanwhile, within the dark universe occupied by the Dark Race, the gigantic altar became increasingly solid and majestic, as though it were about to descend into the Boundless Worlds themselves.

A terrifying black crack appeared beyond the myriad realms. It resembled a gateway.

Powerful Dark Creatures enveloped in dark mist stepped out one after another. Across the many universes already occupied by the Dark Race, Dark Creatures unleashed thunderous roars. Those worlds were immediately harvested.

Powerful Dark beings struck out. Their giant hands pierced through entire worlds.

Worlds collapsed.

Continents shattered.

Mountains and rivers were destroyed.

Oceans evaporated.

Countless living beings perished, transforming into torrents of life essence that surged toward the colossal altar overhead. In some worlds, powerful experts could no longer endure such a scene and charged forward with furious roars.

Yet before they could even approach, they exploded apart in midair and vanished completely.

Everywhere was filled with wailing and tragedy. The beings of countless True World civilizations trembled with rage. Their eyes split with fury.

If the Dark Creatures were allowed to continue the sacrifice, sooner or later it would be their turn.

Yet now the Boundless Worlds were in turmoil. The Heaven-Defying Alliance and the Zhengyi Alliance were still fighting.

The Immortal Dao Alliance had practically collapsed halfway through. The Ethereal Sacred Domain was covered in endless dark mist. Even Gu Changge, leader of the Heaven-Defying Alliance, was trapped within it.

Looking across the current Boundless Worlds—who could stop this catastrophe?

The Truth Realized by the Lord of Fate

“My main body has died…”

“But I have no idea how. The only vague memory left tells me that Ancestor Xu schemed against me.”

“It doesn’t matter. My main body and I are one. From today onward, I am the Lord of Fate.”

Within a mortal realm, in a peaceful village filled with birdsong and flowers, a refined middle-aged man was teaching children in a private school.

Suddenly, he froze.

An immeasurable tide of karma surged into him.

Instantly, he understood the causes and consequences of everything that had happened.

Although the events inside the Dark Race homeland had been completely erased and could no longer be investigated, he still realized that he had been deceived by Ancestor Xu.

Even the two attendants who had followed him for ages had died because of it. A trace of grief appeared on the Lord of Fate’s face. Those two attendants had followed him since the Primordial Era.

Though they had undergone countless reincarnations, he had always found them again.

Now his main body had perished. Its cultivation and memories had been destroyed.

The traces of the two attendants had vanished from existence itself.

They could never be found again. Soon, he suppressed his sorrow. His expression became calm and emotionless. With a gentle wave of his hand, the school vanished.

The children’s voices vanished.

The children themselves vanished.

Taking a single step forward, the village disappeared entirely. It was as though a great wave had washed away every trace left upon a beach.

To guard against such a possibility, he had left behind a Five Aggregates Incarnation. That was precisely to prepare for this outcome. Although he had ultimately escaped, his losses were catastrophic. Everything carried by his original body had been erased. Even the Void Imprint had vanished.

Several precious Primordial treasures had been stored there. But there was no point dwelling on it now.

Ancestor Xu had schemed against him. Yet he had also been scheming against Ancestor Xu.

He had long suspected the true identity of Gu Changge, the leader of the Heaven-Defying Alliance.

Now, after witnessing Ancestor Xu’s extraordinary caution, he became completely certain of his suspicions.

“The leader of the Heaven-Defying Alliance is the Lord of Heaven’s Proxy.”

“I do not know when he reappeared in this world, but he must have escaped long ago. Everything happening now is merely part of his plan.”

“Ancestor Xu used me to probe his true nature.”

“Unfortunately, even Ancestor Xu fell into the trap.”

“That is probably what truly happened within the Dark Race homeland…”

The Lord of Fate sighed.

Without a complete Five Aggregates Incarnation, his plan to condense the Five Aggregates Dao Fruit would have to be postponed.

For now, retreat was the only option. Gu Changge’s momentum was simply too overwhelming. He had no confidence whatsoever in opposing him.

A desperate gamble only had meaning when one possessed the strength to contend.

Now that he knew Gu Changge’s true identity, any thought of direct confrontation had vanished.

Throughout the history of the Boundless Worlds, only one Lord of Heaven’s Proxy had reached that level without seizing or occupying any Authority.

Only one.

He even suspected that the few beings who possessed Authority themselves might not necessarily be able to defeat Gu Changge.

Such an existence was a complete anomaly.

An unimaginable monster. No one knew where he had come from.

Ancestor Xu’s ambitions were equally enormous.

Knowing all this, he still dared to proceed.

Only two outcomes existed: Death Or discovering and mastering Gu Changge’s secrets and thereby reaching an unprecedented path.

“Perhaps I still have one chance…”

“Since Ancestor Xu dared to do this, he must have some confidence.”

The Lord of Fate fell silent for a long time. He still possessed hidden contingencies. Many pieces and schemes remained unused. But before absolute power, all calculations appeared pale and meaningless.

Now his only opportunity was to cooperate with Ancestor Xu.

To truly set aside their hostility. He would help Ancestor Xu obtain the flesh and fortune of Gu Changge. And Ancestor Xu would help him seize the Authority of this age.

As for the Zhengyi Alliance— it had always been nothing more than a chess piece he created to oppose the Heaven-Defying Alliance.

Now that even the player controlling the board had lost the courage to continue, what value did the piece still possess?

The Collapse of the Zhengyi Alliance

After the Grand Sacrifice began, the entire Boundless Worlds descended into unprecedented chaos.

Order ceased to exist.

Rules shattered.

On the battlefield where the Heaven-Defying Alliance and the Zhengyi Alliance were fighting, the white-robed figure suddenly seemed to sense something.

His expression changed repeatedly. Finally, he let out a deep sigh. He immediately appeared upon the battlefield.

Without explanation, he seized the black-clad figure who was fighting against numerous Forbidden Zone beings.

Chains instantly appeared and bound the figure.

Then he turned and left.

Without hesitation.

Without stopping.

Mu Fuguang, Tong Xian, and the other Forbidden Zone beings of the Heaven-Defying Alliance were all deeply confused.

Yet none attempted to stop him.

They merely watched him depart. Even Ling Yuling had difficulty dealing with that mysterious white-robed figure.

She had once trapped him within the Fourth Killing Formation and exiled him into endless void spacetime.

Naturally, no one wished to provoke him. Moreover, everyone present was injured. It had already taken enormous effort to suppress the murderous black-clad figure.

“Did something happen?”

“Has he chosen to retreat because the Grand Sacrifice has begun?”

The crowd was puzzled. They could not understand why the white-robed figure had suddenly withdrawn. Ripples spread through spacetime.

Ling Yuling appeared beyond the worlds. She had witnessed the scene as well. Yet she had not attempted to stop him. Because she knew she could not. The white-robed figure was a descendant of Zhongjun’s bloodline.

Combined with the ancient Fourth Killing Formation, he could come and go freely.

No one could stop him.

“It seems there were no surprises.”

“The final battle has only just begun, yet it is already ending.”

“The leadership of the Zhengyi Alliance has lost the will to fight.”

“They have decided to flee.”

“Their backbone has shattered.”

Looking across the many battlefields, she already understood the outcome.

As the white-robed figure departed, numerous powerful figures on the battlefields followed him and withdrew.

The strands of willpower above the Zhengyi Alliance army rapidly collapsed.

The war souls formed from them dissipated as well.

Before long, the balanced situation completely changed. The Heaven-Defying Alliance launched an overwhelming assault.

Like a crushing avalanche. The Zhengyi Alliance forces could only retreat.

Ordinary soldiers had no idea what had happened.

They could not understand why the situation had changed so drastically. Soon, morale collapsed.

News spread rapidly: The upper leadership of the Zhengyi Alliance had abandoned them.

The information spread across countless battlefields at terrifying speed.

Many Zhengyi Alliance members who knew nothing of the truth turned pale with despair. Victory had still seemed possible.

Why retreat now?

They had been prepared to fight to the death. Yet they suddenly realized they had become nothing more than pawns and a joke.

Ling Yuling Takes Control

“It should be because something happened to the Lord of Fate.”

Ling Yuling did not pursue complete extermination especially now.

The Dark Race had begun the Grand Sacrifice. Unity and manpower were desperately needed. The departure of the Zhengyi Alliance leadership gave her the perfect opportunity to absorb their remaining forces.

She quickly issued an order:

Those who surrender will not be killed. At the same time, she spread another message.

The upper leadership of the Zhengyi Alliance had long since been corrupted by darkness and transformed into members of the Dark Race.

The war between the Heaven-Defying Alliance and the Zhengyi Alliance had been orchestrated specifically to enable the Grand Sacrifice.

Now that the sacrifice had begun, the leadership naturally fled and abandoned everyone else.

Under her forceful reorganization, only a small number stubbornly resisted.

Those who refused to surrender and continued fighting were directly ordered executed.

Now that Gu Changge was absent from the Heaven-Defying Alliance, all responsibility fell upon her shoulders.

For the first time, she fully displayed the authority of a Vice Alliance Leader. Although the decisive battle between the two alliances had not lasted long, every battlefield was already devastated.

Universes lay shattered.

Weapons were broken.

Corpses covered the land.

Countless living beings had died.

Countless worlds had been destroyed by the conflict.

Yet while Ling Yuling focused on integrating and absorbing the remnants of the Zhengyi Alliance—a figure enveloped in black qi suddenly appeared where the two armies had previously clashed.

He stretched out a hand and traced something through the void.

“It truly is the aura of my Hall of Nonexistence.”

“But which number is it?”

The figure seemed puzzled.

Members of the Hall of Nonexistence had appeared in the Boundless Worlds once more. Yet no one within the Hall knew about it. That itself was a problem.

Moreover, it was not yet time for the Hall of Nonexistence to complete its mission. Its members were forbidden from freely walking the world before then.

If the Hall Master discovered this violation, the offender would inevitably be thrown into the Pool of Nonexistence to suffer eternal torment and devouring punishment.
