Chapter 1401: Hmph, Four Minor Characters
After the grand welcome ceremony, the crowd escorted him into the Star Lord's Manor.
The Star Lord's Manor was extremely vast and magnificent. Viewed from afar, its imposing aura seemed to pierce straight through the clouds.
However, sitting cross-legged within the manor, Long Tian felt as if he were sitting on pins and needles, completely at a loss for what to do.
If it weren't for the misunderstanding about him killing members of the Demon Race, gaining the trust and reverence of humanity in such a short time would have been an incredibly joyous occasion.
It would certainly have been a massive achievement to report back to the demons.
But now, the Demon Race was sending people to hunt him down. What use was humanity's trust?
Right now, he was caught in the middle, an enemy to both sides.
"I can't just sit here and wait for death. I must hurry back to the Demon Race and explain everything clearly to the Demon Venerable," Long Tian thought to himself.
He didn't want this misunderstanding to continue and face endless pursuit from his own kind.
As for the human side, if his true identity were exposed, he would become a rat crossing the street, hunted by everyone.
His eyes flickered as he secretly circulated his cultivation base, preparing to make a run for it.
However, just as he reached the door, four shadows suddenly appeared behind him.
"Lord Star Lord, we have sworn to follow you to the death."
Long Tian cursed inwardly. Where did these Star God Guards come from? They were truly like maggots attached to the bone.
"I'm just going out for a walk," Long Tian said with an ashen face. "You don't need to follow me at every moment."
"Reporting to Lord Star Lord, our sole remaining duty is to protect your safety. Wherever the Star Lord goes, we shall follow."
The four of them spoke in perfect unison.
Long Tian's face twitched. He gave a soft snort and said, "I have some matters to attend to outside. If you can keep up, then follow me!"
He clearly understood that it was impossible to shake off these four using mere words.
His only option was to use his speed to lose them directly.
After losing them, he would rush back to the Demon Race to clear up all the misunderstandings.
Of course, the thought had crossed his mind to lead the four out, kill them, and then return to the demons.
But these four gave him a feeling of extreme danger; he had absolutely no confidence in his ability to pull that off.
Fortunately, speed was what he took the most pride in.
Even if he couldn't kill them, could he really not outrun them?
With a slight smirk, Long Tian transformed into a streak of light and dashed toward the starry sky, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
Soon, he broke free from the Cloud Star and arrived in the boundless sea of stars.
But he didn't stop, continuing his flight into the distance.
Another thirty minutes passed, and the massive Cloud Star had shrunk to the size of a rubber ball in his line of sight.
The distance he had put between them was definitely far enough.
Standing in the starry sky, Long Tian curled his lips, revealing a trace of disdain.
"Hmph, four nobodies actually dared to compete with me in speed."
"Didn't I shake you off easily enough?"
Long Tian let out a long sigh of relief. Having left the Cloud Star, the sky was high and the ocean was wide for birds to fly freely. As long as he returned to the Demon Race and cleared up the misunderstanding, nothing would be a problem anymore.
However, just as he caught his breath, four figures suddenly flew over from the direction directly in front of him.
"Lord Star Lord, why have you suddenly stopped?"
This nearly choked Long Tian, cutting his breath short. He stared wide-eyed at the four of them, looking as if he had just seen a ghost.
One must know that from the Cloud Star all the way here, he hadn't paused for even a second. He had practically unleashed the fastest speed of his entire life.
Yet, he still hadn't managed to lose these four?
What made his scalp tingle even more was that these four hadn't caught up from behind—they had flown back from in front of him.
Suppressing his horror, he tried his best to maintain his composure and voiced the doubt in his heart.
"Seeing Lord Star Lord speeding in this direction, we knew you must have important matters to attend to. As Star God Guards, it is our duty to scout the path ahead for you and eliminate any threats."
"We just didn't know why Lord Star Lord suddenly stopped, so we doubled back to await your instructions."
The four Star God Guards respectfully lowered their heads.
"Doubled... doubled back..."
Hearing these words, Long Tian's mind went blank. His soul trembled violently, and he nearly collapsed onto the ground in shock.
