Chapter 43 Unrest
43 Unrest
Shen Yin had not expected Lian Jing to arrive so quickly. In her text message to him, she had stated a time that was half an hour later than her appointed meeting with Yun Shan.
She wanted to first find out how Yun Shan planned to deal with Shen Nian. After ensuring that Nian Nian was safe, she would drag things out and wait for Lian Jing to arrive so that he could see the vicious and hateful side of this female celebrity that he had single-handedly promoted for so many years.
But since she had already said it, Shen Yin could only brace herself and pretend to stand up steadily. Under Lian Jing’s burning gaze, she calmly glanced over. “But I don’t want to now. Are you still going to force me?”
“Of course not.” Lian Jing bit back his laughter and naturally took Shen Yin’s hand. “Before I came over, I asked Zhong Xin to book a private room. Let’s go to the second floor and have a meal.”
Shen Yin broke free from his grip without much effort, her expression extremely cold. “No, I still have work to do at the police station. I’m going back.”
“Then I’ll send you off.” Lian Jing looked at the tips of her red ears and chuckled. Then, he considerately made way for her.
“President Lian! Wait!” Yun Shan refused to give up as she watched their flirtatious behavior. She gritted her teeth and her eyes filled with resentment. “President Lian, do you really fancy her? She’s been married before and has a six-year-old son!”
“Yun Shan.” Lian Jing stopped smiling and turned coldly to warn her. ” I’ll let it go this time on account of the fact that you once saved me. But you had better not scheme against Shen Yin. I can make you popular, but I can also destroy you.”
They exited Zixiang Pavilion. The restaurant had specially assigned a valet to park Lian Jing’s car at the entrance.
She had just taken a breath of fresh air when the man’s arm reached out from behind her and gently placed his palm on the roof of the car, encircling her in his arms.
“Yin Yin, you don’t like this place?”
“No.” Shen Yin turned slightly and calmly distanced herself from him. She frowned in disdain and said, “I was just bothered by Yun Shan’s perfume.”
“It doesn’t smell as good as your scent.”
The man leaned closer and sniffed gently, but his body did not touch her. He deliberately kept a certain distance from her.
Shen Yin looked up and saw his smiling eyes. His brows were relaxed, and his lips curled into a charming arc.
This man was very good-looking. Shen Yin considered herself to be someone who did not value outward appearances, but she could not help but lose herself in his beautiful eyes.
Lian Jing was happy to let her gaze at him. He did not make a sound and even his breathing became softer, as if he was afraid of disturbing a cat that had drawn close to him. He lowered his head and looked at her beautiful face silently. His throat suddenly became extremely dry.
He held himself back, his Adam’s apple bobbing unnaturally. Then, as if he could not bear to see her in such a daze, he reached out and covered her eyes.
He thought that if he did not let Shen Yin see him, he would be able to ease the restlessness in his body. But when her long eyelashes swept across his palm, it was as if she had brushed against his heart and his body grew even more tense.
Lian Jing hurriedly retracted his hand and ground his teeth as he glared at her. “Did you do it on purpose?”
“?”
Shen Yin had not followed his train of thought and was stunned as he stuffed her into the passenger seat. Seeing him walk around the front of the car in exasperation, she suddenly realized that she had been staring at him in a daze for a long time just now. Her face instantly turned as red as a tomato.
“I didn’t mean to…”
But before she could explain, Lian Jing had already stopped her mouth.
She widened her eyes and tried to push him away, but he stopped after a light kiss. Their lips only touched for a moment before they separated.
For some reason, Shen Yin was actually a little dissatisfied. She glared at him and retorted angrily, “President Lian, I’m a policewoman. You keep acting like a hooligan. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll arrest you and throw you in jail for a few days?”
“My little forensic pathologist, the last time I kissed you, it was with your consent.” Lian Jing drove without changing his expression and pointed at the drawer in front of her. “Open it.”
“What is it?” Shen Yin opened it curiously and saw that Lian Jing had stuffed the entire drawer full of snacks.
Was this guy still jealous of how Meng Heng had taken care of her in the hospital last time?
“I can buy these things for you too,” Lian Jing said calmly. Then, he steadily parked the car at the entrance of the police station. “Bring it all up. You can share them with the boy, but you have to eat well first. I’ll get Zhong Xin to send a meal over later. I have to go back for a meeting.”
“There’s no need. A colleague in my office gave me food.” Shen Yin refused without thinking too much.
