I Became the Best Forensic Doctor After My Betrayal

Chapter 77 Confession

77 Confession

“You want to interrogate Lin Hui alone?”

Wu Zheng shook his head in disagreement. “As long as Chen Ke confesses, we can close the case and hand it over to the prosecutor’s office. Why do you still want to interrogate Lin Hui?”

“Because I don’t think Chen Ke is the mastermind in this case.” Shen Yin looked gravely at the flustered but determined Chen Ke in the interrogation room.

Zou Sheng rubbed his sleepy eyes. He had been staying up late and working overtime. “But, Sister, we don’t have any evidence that points to Lin Hui. If she doesn’t relent and insists that she’s the victim, how can we interrogate her?”

Shen Yin shook her head with wry smile. “Our job is to find out the truth. We can’t close the case hastily just because there’s insufficient evidence. Any suspicious points in a case should be cleared before it can be considered closed.”

Wu Zheng looked at her in a daze. Then, he stubbed out the cigarette in his hand and led Zou Sheng into the interrogation room without saying a word.

On the screen in the surveillance room, Chen Ke was dispirited after being detained for a long time. When he saw Wu Zheng and Zou Sheng enter, he only raised her head slightly before lowering it again. He closed his eyes and said mockingly, “Officers, when can I go home?”

“I’m afraid you can’t go back.”

Wu Zheng threw a report in front of him which detailed the bloodstains found in the house. “No matter what a clean job you did, the police will still be able to find some clues. Your kitchen is the first location where the dismemberment took place, and the first crime took place in your bedroom, right?”

Wu Zheng stared into Chen Ke’s eyes so as not to miss any change in his expression.

Chen Ke’s gaze froze for a moment, and then the expression on her face instantly became ferocious. “What else do you know?”

“We also know the real relationship between your wife and Lu Feng.” Wu Zheng tapped the table with his finger. Zou Sheng immediately showed Chen Ke the paused video on the tablet.

Chen Ke instantly pounced forward to snatch it, but the handcuffs restrained him and kept him in his chair. His lips trembled as he stared at the couple in the video with a pale face. Tears flowed from the corners of his eyes.

He lowered his head in frustration, but the man in his forties was crying like a child. Tears kept flowing out of his eyes. He nodded, and even his voice was trembling. “Yes, I killed Lu Feng. I confess. You can sentence me. I’ll confess to everything.”

Wu Zheng and Zou Sheng looked at each other and began to confront Chen Ke about the crime.

Chen Ke was very detailed and calm. After Zou Sheng recorded everything, he removed Chen Ke’s handcuffs and brought him back to the crime scene to identify certain things. After writing the case file, the case could be closed.

Wu Zheng pushed Chen Ke out of the interrogation room. Shen Yin hurriedly walked over. “We can’t close the case. Captain Wu, this case…”

“Alright, let’s talk about it when we get back. I’ll bring him over to identify the crime scene. If we really find anything amiss, I’ll look for you.” Wu Zheng stopped her and led Chen Ke away.

When he passed Shen Yin, Chen Ke’s whose head had been bowed suddenly looked up. After giving her a cold look, he lowered her head and walked past expressionlessly.

Shen Yin pulled Zou Sheng back. “Where’s Lin Hui?”

Zou Sheng frowned. “Our people have already sent someone to bring Lin Hui back to the police station. Why aren’t they back yet? Wait a moment, I’ll make a call.”

Zou Sheng quickly dialed a number on Meng Heng’s phone. The other party’s anxious voice immediately came over the line. “Oh no, Lin Hui is missing!”

When Shen Yin heard that, her heart quaked. She and Zou Sheng looked at each other and saw the nervousness in each other’s eyes.

The murderer had just confessed, but the other person involved in the crime had mysteriously disappeared. It was hard to just dismiss something like that.

Zou Sheng, had not believed that Lin Hui would commit a crime, but he now, he began to suspect this mother, who looked weak but was actually very controlling.

“What should we do now, Sister?” Zou Sheng looked at Shen Yin, somehow feeling that she would have a solution.

Shen Yin pondered for a moment and first relayed the news to Wu Zheng, who was heading to the crime scene. Then, she followed him in her car.

Outside Lu Feng’s house.

Shen Yin and Captain Wu met with Chen Ke following them with in silence.

Shen Yin insisted, “Captain, will you believe me now? Chen Ke is either a scapegoat, or a minor accomplice. The real murderer is still at large.”
