The Sun shone brilliantly. The rainy season had passed, and wherever the eye could reach there was nothing but clear blue sky.

For reasons difficult to explain, the sky after the rainy season always seemed exceptionally blue, as though it had been thoroughly washed clean by all that rain.

Su Bai stood before the floor-to-ceiling window looking out at the view, feeling once again that not raining was simply better.

“Shaman, the people from the Green Vine Tribe and the Earth Tiger Tribe have all left. They said they would get us an answer as soon as possible,” Sha Lan reported.

“Good. And the Wild Fox Tribe?” Su Bai asked.

“The people from the Wild Fox Tribe are still wandering about the Tribe. They find everything here really novel.” Sha Lan said softly.

“Let them stay a couple more days before bringing them to see me. I’m rather curious what they’ve brought with them this time.” Su Bai said, his tone unhurried.

He had a great many things keeping him occupied over these next few days, and no spare time to spare for the Wild Fox Tribe just yet.

“Understood.” Sha Lan replied at once.

“By the way, now that the rain has stopped, has work begun on the city walls?” Su Bai continued.

“It will be properly continued by noon today. Uncle Qing Yan will lead the Totem Warriors in protecting the workers as they head out.” Sha Lan’s blue eyes blinked. “With the experience from last time, the construction should go a lot faster.”

“Remember to keep well clear of people from other Tribes at all times. During the wall construction, assign people to Patrol the surrounding area. As well as driving off Ferocious Beasts, the aim is also to prevent people from other Tribes coming to observe and learn from us.”

Su Bai clasped his hands behind his back, his dark eyes watching the busy figures moving about inside the Tribe.

The moment the rainy season had ended, everyone had come pouring out without a moment’s hesitation.

Most of them were bringing out quilts and pillows that had been stored away through an entire rainy season to air them in the sun, along with their beast hide clothes and linen clothes.

All of this had become habit through the ideas Su Bai had instilled in them, and the majority of the Tribe now followed it as a matter of course.

They knew that quilts left in use for too long would accumulate bacteria, and the same applied to clothing.

Not only did these things need to be aired frequently, washing them was equally important. The people of the Flame Dragon Tribe all understood what needed to be done.

Just as they understood that water now had to be boiled before drinking, otherwise it would be teeming with bacteria.

“Uncle Qing Yan knows what to do. There is absolutely no chance of letting people from other Tribes come anywhere near,” Sha Lan replied with complete conviction.

“Beyond the wall construction, the cement roads within the Tribe and the cement houses also need to begin going up.”

Su Bai turned and walked back to take his seat. “Before the snow season arrives, we need considerably more cement houses. We have enough hands for that, do we not?”

“I’ve already begun making arrangements. With the 2,000 slaves sent over from the Green Vine Tribe and the Earth Tiger Tribe, manpower is not something we need to worry too much about.” Sha Lan gave her cat tail a flick. “With so many more hands available, a good number of cement houses can certainly be built before the snow season arrives. There will be far more than last year, at the very least.”

“You know what needs to be done,” Su Bai said, taking a sip of tea.

“I do. Things they shouldn’t be made aware of, they won’t be. The work will be broken into stages,” Sha Lan said with a smile and a nod.

Since taking over the management of the Tribe’s affairs large and small, the cat eared girl had long since learned how to handle things. She had a clear sense of what mattered most.

With the exception of the Flame Dragon Tribe’s long-standing members, all those who had joined the Tribe more recently were to be observed carefully for a period of time without exception.

“Beyond that, go and check on the shipyard and see how the boat-building is coming along. Ask whether the number of vessels I need have been completed yet,” Su Bai continued.

Several months had passed since his last visit to the shipyard, and another plan of his was now due to begin moving toward execution.

“Yes.” Sha Lan drew out her notebook and made a record of it.

“Also, farming work needs people assigned to begin immediately. We need to build up another store of grain before the snow season arrives.” Su Bai set down his teacup. “How much grain do we have left from what we stored before the rainy season began?”

“The farming work is already being prepared. Farmers have gone out to till the fields. In roughly two days, all the vegetables should be planted.” Sha Lan thought back to the stockroom inventory she had checked just that morning. “The remaining quantities are enough to feed the Tribe for five or six days, and that is with everyone eating and drinking well.”

For the Flame Dragon Tribe, this was already extraordinary. In the old days, there was not only nothing left over but simply not starving to death was considered fortunate enough.

Back then, one meal a day was all that could be managed, and some people could only eat once every two days. One could well imagine just how desperately scarce the food stores had been.

But things were entirely different now. Every person in the Tribe, so long as they worked, could expect three meals a day.

The portions distributed to them were not small, and the variety was far from lacking either. To put it plainly, the balance of meat and vegetables was very well managed.

This was the kind of life Su Bai wanted for the Tribe’s people. Only by living this way could the hearts of the Flame Dragon Tribe’s people be won, and more be drawn to join their ranks.

“Good. Continue distributing grain as normal. With the Growth Acceleration Skill, we will have fresh produce again in five or six days.” Su Bai nodded with satisfaction.

“Shaman, a number of Warriors have been asking me whether we will be going to hunt in the Hunting Ground again.” Sha Lan suddenly asked.

Su Bai turned this over in his mind carefully for a long moment before saying, “Not for now. Our Tribe has everything it needs at the moment. There is no need to take the risk of going out to specially hunt.”

“Yes.” Sha Lan nodded in acknowledgement.

“That said, it would be worth sending a few people to the Hunting Ground. Not many, just enough to bring some things back for me.” Su Bai said in an unhurried tone.

Sha Lan’s eyes lit up immediately. “Shaman, what do you need brought back?”

To be honest, there were indeed quite a few Warriors who were very eager to go to the Hunting Ground. Hunting was, after all, their instinct.

“Go and see whether there are any smaller creatures that could be brought back and raised. And also some large creatures that can fly and carry people.”

Su Bai thought back to his earlier transportation vehicle plan. Constructing an airship or aircraft in a Primitive Tribe was simply far too difficult.

At this stage, at least, it was completely beyond what could be achieved, so the only avenue was to work with wild animals and Ferocious Beasts.

Taming some flying Ferocious Beasts might well solve the problem. The Flame Dragon Tribe would, in effect, have an air force.

And with aerial transportation vehicles as well, travelling to other Tribes would become considerably more convenient.

“Is there anything else, Shaman?” Sha Lan asked, swishing her cat tail with barely contained excitement.

“Also, Ferocious Beast Bones. As many as possible. I need them to craft more Shaman Bone Tablets,” Su Bai added.

“Understood.” Sha Lan’s eyes curved into crescent shapes as she smiled.
