“Shaman, and everyone else, step back a little.” Sha Lan said, then began to move backwards, looking for a spot with more room.

She estimated that where she was now would not catch anyone in the blast radius. She hefted the rock in her hand.

She threw the rock hard into the air, then pivoted at the hip and lashed her tail across.

The motion was completely fluid. The throw, the turn, the swing. It was one clean sequence.

Her aim was good too. The moment the tail came through, it connected squarely with the falling rock.

“I didn’t think it would actually work.” Sha Lan was stunned by what she had just done herself.

She looked back at her cat tail, then reached out and dusted the fragments of stone from it.

“Are you alright?” Su Bai moved over at once, beginning to check her cat tail carefully.

The tail was still a soft part of the body. It had just struck a rock. If it had been injured, that would not be good.
