Chapter 1424: A Chilling Existence

Chapter 1424: A Chilling Existence

The Prince stared at his bloody stump with a pale look in his eyes. For a moment, he was overwhelmed by terror. However, his face moved on from the fear far too quickly.

An eerie light flickered in his eyes as he became expressionless.

He brought out a transparent vial filled with red liquid and drank it. As he did, the bloody stump glowed with green light that extended outward, forming the radiant silhouette of a new pair of hands. The light shattered, revealing a brand-new hand.

He clenched and unclenched his fingers, testing the mobility of his renewed hand.

’The motion feels slightly delayed. I guess it will get better over time. I’m lucky to have received this from Bull.’

His eyes shifted.

’Speaking of Bull.’

He gave the dark-haired man before him a long, searching look.

’He should have taken care of that monster while I went after the next strongest. What is he doing?’

The Prince then spread his awareness, expanding it to locate this Bull person. However, his eyes widened, and his pupils trembled.

’I can’t feel Bull... B-Bull...’

His gaze slowly returned to the dark-haired man, trembling.

Revant stared at the hand he had taken and studied the Prince’s renewed hands with amused curiosity.

A small, devious smile played across his lips.

"What did you do to the big man that came after you?!" the Prince shouted, instantly consumed by rage. "What did you do to Bull?!"

Revant cast an offended look at the Prince.

He then threw his severed hand away, causing it to splatter against the hard plain and roll across the ground. Revant took slow steps toward the Prince and gave no response.

Step... step.

Another step.

Meanwhile, the Prince stood guardedly, lowering into a strange stance, ready to either shoot forward or leap backward depending on the need of the moment.

Revant wore a twisted expression. He raised his chin, and his eyes glowered with vast, murderous glee. It instantly overwhelmed the Prince, filling his entire body with an unexplainable despair.

’What... what is this chasm between us?’

The difference between him and this person was too wide, too deep, and he simply couldn’t understand how such a thing was possible. He had fought Ascendants and Paragons before, yet none of them had created a strength gap this vast or made him feel this afraid.

The Prince’s entire being was ravaged by despair. However, a wide, distasteful smile spread across his face.

"You... I like you! I like your strength! Serve me! I will give you whatever you want! Serve me!!"

Revant’s unpleasant expression darkened even further.

"If I cut half of your head off, leaving only your mouth downward, would the potion still work?"

The Prince forced a grin, a drop of sweat rolling down his temple beneath his white hair.

"Well, who knows... but too bad. I would die before you find out."

Revant studied the Prince with mild amusement, wondering what to do with him.

’Bring him to me...’

A small frown formed on his face as he heard Northern’s voice inside his head. He already felt intruded upon enough knowing that Northern’s mind was linked to his own and could scavenge the corners of his thoughts at any moment. Then Northern just had to go and speak directly into his head.

His gaze drifted down to the Prince.

"You are coming with me."

The Prince chuckled in disbelief, sounding slightly amused.

"What? You want to take me captive?"

He laughed.

"That’s rather endearing of you. Perhaps you do not know who I am. I am—"

The Prince stopped abruptly as he perceived the sky collapsing toward him.

A chill froze his blood, and he leaped over a hundred meters away from Revant.

Revant, who had wanted to do this easily, closed his eyes and smiled angrily.

’He’s surprisingly sharp... too sharp. How annoying.’

It felt like trying to catch a grasshopper.

He moved again. He took just a single step but covered a vast distance in a flow of time far too fast for the Prince to perceive. Before the Prince could lunge away again, Revant’s hand seized him by the neck.

An unnatural feeling of helplessness overwhelmed him.

He felt his will dwindle and sink into something far more sinister and encompassing than anything he had ever known in his life.

The Prince struggled for a moment, trying to break free from Revant’s grasp, but it was futile.

He stopped struggling and gave Revant an amused smile.

"Mind what you’re doing. My brothers don’t play with Imperial blood. Whoever your master is, he is going to earn the wrath of the Empire. So isn’t it better to let me go? At least for your master’s sake. Listen, my father is a Transcendent!"

Revant continued to look at the Prince, slightly disappointed.

"You... how old are you?"

The Prince frowned.

"I’m twenty-one. Why?"

He looked offended by Revant’s question.

"What? I hope you’re not judging me?!"

Revant was silent for a few moments. Then he finally spoke, his voice chilling.

"You seem to believe that the meager thing you’ve been reading from me this entire time is enough for you to defeat me."

Revant’s voice sounded deeply menacing.

"Be careful... boy."

The Prince merely smiled in response.

"Ya... ya... I got caught so easily..."

He chuckled with a pleasant expression. He seemed completely relaxed, worried by absolutely nothing.

As nonchalant as Revant tried to remain, he found the Prince’s entire attitude almost disturbing. It was as though the young man was utterly convinced he would defeat Revant — or at least survive.

Now, if that wasn’t an insult of the highest order, Revant didn’t know what was.

Suddenly, something slammed against Revant. It wasn’t a physical weight.

If anything, it was a familiar weight.

And the moment he sensed it, his lips curled with terrifying delight.

"You... you dare..."

Revant’s voice vibrated as he resisted the overwhelming wave of despair that tormented him, threatening to rip his insides apart.

The Prince only wore a pleasant smile, looking at Revant as if he were a plaything.

"So what do you think? Will you come serve me, Tyrant of Despair?"
