Chapter 814: Blue Demon
Chapter 814: Blue Demon
Beside him, the Dark Elf Commander stepped up, wiping a smear of dark blue blood from his pale cheek, his unhinged grin still stretched wide across his face.
“Not a single casualty, boss!” the commander snickered, tapping the side of his helmet where a halberd had sliced through three seconds prior, before his soul-bond regenerated it. “Well… technically we died forty-two times, but who’s counting?”
“Save your breath, crazy,” Pho grunted, his dark eyes fixing on the massive obsidian gates ahead. “The main course is inside.”
Pho didn’t bother knocking. He stepped up to the ancient dark elven doors, raised his massive, boot-clad leg, and kicked the central seam with the full, shockwave-driven weight of his demonic strength.
BOOM!
The multi-ton obsidian doors shattered inward, the massive stone slabs crashing onto the polished floor of the grand entrance hall with a deafening roar that shook the entire fortress.
Pho and the Dark Elf Commander stepped through the smoking threshold, followed by the two hundred white-armored, blood-splattered dark elves.
The interior of the main citadel was breathtaking and terrifying in equal measure.
The grand hall stretched forward for over three hundred yards, supported by soaring obsidian pillars inlaid with glowing, deep-sea blue runes.
The air inside wasn’t just cold.
It carried a suffocating, gravitational pressure that made the surrounding stone sweat frozen condensation.
Patrolling the grand hall and lining the upper balconies were hundreds of high-tier blue abyssal guards, their halberds raised, their eyes glowing with cold hostility as the intruders breached their sanctuary.
“Storm the hall!” Pho bellowed, a savage, manic grin spreading across his face as he raised his ice axe high. “CLEAR A PATH TO THE THRONE!”
The dark elves didn’t form a line; they let out a unified, unhinged war cry and charged into the grand hall like a wave of pure, chaotic violence.
What followed was a three-hundred-yard bloodbath.
Pho led the charge down the central aisle, a moving hurricane of absolute-zero deathfrost and destruction.
Every swing of his axe shattered blue armor, pulverized bone, and sent waves of freezing energy ripping through the ranks of the abyssal guards.
When a high-tier captain managed to slip past his guard and drive a spear through his shoulder, Pho didn’t back down.
He grabbed the captain by the throat, froze the demon’s head solid, and crushed it in his bare palm like a frozen melon, his soul bond immediately knitting his shoulder wound back together in a flash of dark mana.
Beside him, the Dark Elf Commander was a blur of manic, lethal motion.
He vaulted off the heads of charging guards, his spear delivering rapid-fire thrusts that detonated chest cavities with blinding white light-mana.
He laughed hysterically through the entire push, completely unbothered by the chaos, spinning his weapon with dark, fluid elegance as his troops tore through the citadel’s defenses.
They didn’t stop.
They didn’t take cover.
They pushed forward with the relentless, terrifying momentum of an immortal army that literally could not be killed.
Within fifteen minutes of absolute, non-stop slaughter, Pho and the Dark Elf Commander kicked open the massive, double-tiered inner sanctum doors at the far end of the hall.
The doors crashed open, revealing the heart of the ancient kingdom: The Throne Room of the Ancient Dark Elves.
The chamber was staggering in scale. Soaring arches carved from light-absorbing dark stone rose toward a vaulted ceiling that mimicked a frozen, starless sky.
Lining the walls were ancient dark elven banners, faded with age but preserved in pristine condition.
And at the far end of the long, blue-carpeted dais, sitting upon the colossal, multi-tiered throne of the ancient kings, sat the entity they had come for.
The Blue Demon.
The creature was magnificent and terrifying. It stood nearly five meters tall, its frame deceptively slender compared to the bulky red demons, but radiating a cold, refined authority that eclipsed everything else in the subterranean world.
Its skin was a deep, oceanic indigo, smooth as polished glass, and intricate, glowing ice-runes were etched directly into its flesh like living tattoos.
It wore regal, dark-silver armor inlaid with frozen sapphires, and a massive, single-edged blade forged from pure ice rested casually across its lap.
Its glowing, lightless blue eyes slowly drifted away from a floating, arcane scrying pool and fixed on Pho and the Dark Elf Commander as they stepped into the throne room, dripping with the blood of its entire garrison.
The Blue Demon didn’t rise. It didn’t rage. It simply looked at them with the cold, ancient detachment of a god observing insects that had crawled into its sanctuary.
“Pho the blessed,” the Blue Demon spoke, its voice carrying a deep, echoing resonance that sounded like grinding tectonic plates beneath an icy ocean. “And a handful of dark elven mutts wearing white armor. You have slaughtered my vanguard. You have frozen my refinery. And yet… You stand before my throne without your master.”
The Blue Demon raised its hand, resting its chin lazily against its knuckles as its glowing eyes narrowed slightly.
“Did Jack Kaiser truly believe that sending a pair of high-tier hounds would be sufficient to claim the throne of the deep?” the Blue Demon asked, a faint, chilling smile touching its indigo lips. “Or has the Soul Warden grown arrogant after breaking a single Emperor-rank dragon on the surface?”
Pho stopped at the base of the dais, resting his heavy, blood-stained ice axe against his broad shoulder. He looked up at the giant sitting on the throne, a dark, dangerous grin spreading across his pale blue face.
“Jack didn’t send us to kill you, big guy,” Pho said, his voice rumbling through the quiet throne room like low thunder. “He explicitly told us not to touch your head.”
Beside him, the Dark Elf Commander stepped up, his pristine white armor splattered with blue gore, his unhinged grin stretching wide as he twirled his blood-soaked spear.
“That’s right! We’re just the cleaning crew! We locked the doors, slaughtered your army, and swept the floor so the place looks real nice when the boss gets down here!”
The Blue Demon’s glowing blue eyes flickered with a sudden, dangerous intensity.
The ambient temperature in the throne room plummeted, frost instantly encrusting the massive stone pillars, as a crushing, high-tier abyssal pressure erupted from the creature’s frame.
“You stand in the ancestral hall of the dark kings,” the Blue Demon declared softly, the sheer weight of its aura making the air around them vibrate. “And you speak of waiting. If Jack Kaiser desires my head, he had better arrive before I tear the souls out of his hounds.”
Pho didn’t back down an inch. He planted his boots into the stone, his own Deathfrost Domain erupting outward to slam directly against the Blue Demon’s pressure, creating a crackling wall of frozen mana between them.
“He’s already on his way down,” Pho chuckled, his grip whitening on his axe handle. “So pull up a chair, sit tight, and get ready, big guy… because the Soul Warden is about to take everything you own.”
High above them, deep in the subterranean tunnels, the sound of measured footsteps began to echo through the dark as a lone figure began to emerge into the light.
