Chapter 464: Meteor Shower
Chapter 464: Meteor Shower
"Meteor Shower." Razeal whispered the words indifferently before slowly bringing his raised hand down.
And the moment he did
Shrkkkkkkk
The entire atmosphere trembled violently.
A deep vibration spread through the sky and earth together, strong enough to make the giant Bone Wall beneath everyone’s feet shake faintly. The air itself suddenly felt heavier, compressed under some enormous pressure.
The light around the battlefield dimmed.
Every person standing atop the wall instinctively looked upward at the same time.
At first, they couldn’t properly see anything. The sky above was covered in thick clouds, dark and heavy beneath the pale dawn.
Then suddenly
The clouds split apart.
Shooom. Shooom. Shooom. Shooom.
The sound came first.
Like thousands of arrows cutting through the sky at once.
Then everyone saw them.
Falling stars.
No.. Not stars.
But... Gigantic burning masses, hundreds of meters wide, wrapped completely in violent flames as they tore downward from the heavens. They moved with terrifying speed, dragging long trails of fire behind them while the atmosphere screamed around their descent.
And it wasn’t just one.
There were hundreds.
No
Thousands.
The entire sky seemed to be raining destruction.
Nancy’s mouth slowly opened as she stared upward.
"What... the hell..."
Even Lord Kael visibly stiffened.
For a moment, everyone simply froze there watching the impossible scene unfolding above them.
The meteors looked less like magic and more like the world itself had broken apart.
"Fuck..!"
Lady Veyra was the first to snap out of it.
"Prepare yourselves!" she shouted sharply, her voice cutting through the panic immediately. "Everyone brace for impact!"
Her expression had completely changed now.
Fear.
Real fear.
Because she understood exactly what would happen once those things struck the battlefield. Even from miles away, the impact waves alone could destroy sections of the city walls. Flying debris, shattered stone, compressed wind pressure people could die from the aftermath without ever being touched directly.. At same time now understanding why there was need to create such giant wall.. if one can do something like this.
At her voice, the others immediately reacted.
Kael stepped forward instantly, his aura exploding outward to stabilize the section of wall beneath them. Just for surety as it doesn’t crumble..
Kharvek raised both hands, earth mana spreading through the battlements to reinforce the structure itself.
Even Grace unconsciously took several steps backward while staring upward with pale eyes.
Nobody there had ever seen anything remotely like this before.
Not even heard of it.
And that made it worse.
Because when something went beyond understanding entirely, instinct alone took over.
Meanwhile
Far below, deep within the advancing Rock Army, chaos erupted.
The soldiers riding atop the giant golems looked upward in confusion at first.
Then horror.
The sky itself was burning.
The massive floating warships immediately began sounding alarms while magical barriers flickered to life across their surfaces. Commanding soldiers shouted desperately from the decks while crews scrambled toward defensive positions.
But no one truly knew what to do.
How could they?
This wasn’t a spell they recognized.
This wasn’t siege magic.
This looked like the heavens themselves were collapsing onto them.
Inside one of the central warships, the commander leading this army slowly looked upward through the open observation deck.
He was a peak Great Saint.
And even he felt his chest tighten seeing the scale of what was descending toward them.
In one second, his mind reached the conclusion clearly.
If even one of those things landed directly on a ship
Nothing would survive.
Not the crew.
Not the constructs.
Nothing.
"RUNNNNNN!"
His voice exploded through the battlefield.
Every commander below immediately looked upward afterward.
"MOVE THE SHIPS!"
"BREAK FORMATION!"
"FULL DEFENSIVE BARRIERS!"
Panic spread rapidly afterward.
The giant golems began moving chaotically across the battlefield while warships desperately shifted directions in the sky, trying to avoid the descending meteors.
But they were too many.
Far too many.
And they were still falling.
And just exactly at that time
Nine powerful Great Saint auras exploded upward from different positions within the battlefield.
The pressure they released tore through the air as nine figures shot toward the sky simultaneously, rising directly toward the incoming meteor shower without hesitation. They moved fast faster than most soldiers below could even properly follow with their eyes.
These were peak Great Saints.
Veterans of countless battles.
Men who had stood at the top of strongs of strongs.
And none of them intended to simply wait for death to fall.
"TOGETHER!" one of them roared across the sky.
The nine instantly gathered their power together. Different elemental attacks surged outward at once gigantic sword slashes, compressed beams of earth and wind, destructive magical waves layered over one another before all of it crashed upward into the descending meteors.
The air itself split apart from the force of the attacks.
For a moment
It looked successful.
The first incoming meteors were struck directly.
Explosions burst across the sky.
Several gigantic flaming masses shattered apart under the combined attacks of the Great Saints.
But then
Everyone realized the problem.
The meteors didn’t stop.
They only broke apart.
And the fragments kept falling anyway.
The giant hundred-meter burning masses split into dozens of smaller blazing pieces that continued descending at horrifying speed. Instead of one impact
There were now hundreds.
The front few meteors fully exploded under the attacks, but most simply fragmented before continuing downward like a rain of fire and stone.
And then they hit.
The battlefield disappeared beneath explosions.
Boooooooo!!
Boooooooo!!
BOOOOM!!
The sound became endless.
The flaming fragments slammed through the floating warships first, punching directly through thick reinforced hulls before exploding inside them. Entire sections of ships disappeared instantly in fire and shattered stone.
One enormous warship tilted sideways violently after losing half its body before crashing downward out of the sky.
It landed directly across the backs of several giant golems below.
The impact alone flattened entire sections of the battlefield beneath it.
More explosions followed immediately afterward.
The meteors didn’t discriminate.
Golems.
Soldiers.
Warships.
Everything was struck.
The battlefield turned into chaos within seconds.
Everywhere, giant craters opened across the plains while shockwaves tore outward through the advancing army. Heat blasted through the air hard enough to burn exposed flesh even from a distance.
The nine Great Saints still flying above fought desperately now.
At first they tried destroying the incoming fragments one after another. Swords flashed through the air while elemental attacks exploded repeatedly around them.
But there were simply too many.
Thousands.
Tens of thousands.
Every meteor they destroyed only created more deadly fragments.
"DODGE!" one of them yelled.
The formation immediately broke apart.
Some Great Saints tried weaving through the incoming rain while continuing to destroy as many meteors as possible.
Others focused entirely on defense
Still
One after another
They began getting hit.
A fragment no larger than a carriage tore through one Great Saint’s shoulder despite his defensive aura, taking half the arm with it before continuing downward into the battlefield below.
Another barely avoided direct impact only for the heatwave itself to burn through sections of his armor.
The sky itself had become lethal.
By the time only three Great Saints remained grouped together in the air, all of them already carried burns and injuries across their bodies.
"Keep breaking them!" one of them shouted desperately while forming another defensive barrier.
The others attacked upward again immediately.
But it still wasn’t enough.
Every shattered meteor simply became another shower of smaller death raining downward.
Meanwhile below them
The battlefield had become hell.
Burning fragments tore through giant golems as though piercing wet paper. Some constructs lost entire limbs instantly. Others had cores shattered directly through their chests before collapsing into pieces.
Human soldiers suffered even worse.
Fragments pierced through bodies effortlessly.
Legs.
Arms.
Heads.
Entire torsos exploded apart from impact.
Blood and shattered armor flew across the battlefield while screams disappeared beneath the endless roar of impacts.
"Just.. This... what... what is this?!" one of the remaining Great Saints shouted desperately while trying to block another incoming fragment.
His entire body was already covered in burns despite never taking a direct hit. Even fragments passing nearby radiated enough heat to damage them.
"I DON’T KNOW!" another roared back.
That answer had barely left his mouth
When something flashed past him.
Fast.
A burning fragment no larger than a human body brushed across his shoulder.
Just brushed.
Yet his defensive aura exploded apart instantly.
His armor shattered.
Then half his chest just disappeared.
Blood, organs, and broken bone burst outward violently across the sky before splattering directly across the face and armor of the Great Saint flying beside him.
The second man froze.
His eyes widened completely.
For a moment, his mind simply stopped understanding what he had just witnessed.
Blood and shattered organs splattered across his face and armor while pieces of the man who had been flying beside him vanished beneath the endless rain of fire. Instinct forced him to shut his mouth immediately before the remains entered it completely.. Tasting that iron and meat..? His eyes turned bloodshot as he forced himself to keep moving through the chaos around him.
Fear no longer mattered.
The battlefield below was already gone.
His army
Gone.
The warships.
The golems.
The soldiers.
Everything beneath the meteor shower was being erased from existence.
And yet...
If he died here without even reaching the enemy who caused this, then House Rock would remember him only as another coward buried beneath defeat.
His chest tightened painfully at that thought.
No.
Even if survival was impossible now, he would at least reach the one responsible.
His eyes searched desperately through the explosions and burning sky.
Then finally
He found them.
Standing atop that giant ash-white wall beneath the morning sky.
"There!" he roared through the chaos, pointing his sword directly toward Razeal and the others standing upon the Bone Wall.
The final remaining Great Saint beside him immediately understood.
Both of them exploded forward through the sky at full speed.
Their bodies became streaks of light weaving desperately between the falling meteors. They no longer cared about injuries. Smaller burning fragments slammed into them repeatedly, opening burns and tearing through portions of armor, yet neither slowed down.
The only thing left in their eyes now was rage.
Behind them
The battlefield had become complete destruction.
Without Great Saints remaining to intercept or shatter the falling meteors, the shower descended directly upon the army below uninterrupted. Entire sections of land vanished beneath impacts. Building-sized meteors crashed into warships and giant golems alike before exploding into oceans of fire.
The plains themselves began collapsing inward beneath the endless bombardment.
Stone melted.
Earth split apart.
Lava spread across the battlefield where temperatures became too extreme for the ground itself to remain solid anymore.
Nothing recognizable remained behind.
Not bodies.
Not armor.
Not constructions.
Only fire.
Only craters.
Only ruin.
Lord Kharvek stood atop the Bone Wall gripping fistfuls of his own hair while staring at the devastation below. His pupils reflected endless fire and falling meteors while his breathing slowly became heavier.
He had fought wars his entire life.. Infinite numbera of monsters portals and rifts.. saw all kind of distruction.
He had seen cities burn before.
But this...
This no longer resembled war.
"It’s..." His voice nearly failed him. "It’s like divine punishment."
Even Lord Kael stood silent now, one hand unconsciously tightening around the hilt of his sword at his waist. His fingers trembled slightly despite himself.
"I cannot..." he whispered quietly. "I cannot even understand what I’m seeing."
The others around them were not much different
Shock.
Fear
Awe.
All of it mixed together strangely as they watched the heavens itself continue crushing the battlefield beneath endless fire.
Even Sofia looked genuinely stunned now.
Her mouth remained slightly open while the violent winds from the explosions pushed her ocean-blue hair backward through the air. She had expected destruction, yes.
But not this.
Not something on this scale.
Not something that made her own earlier attack seem almost restrained in comparison.
The entire battlefield below looked like the world itself was ending.
Meanwhile
Razeal simply watched... Calmly.
His crimson eyes reflected the burning sky while the two remaining Great Saints desperately approached through the meteor storm.
A faint smile slowly appeared on his face.
Amusement.
The two Great Saints crossed through the air in violent zig-zag movements, dodging between incoming meteors while forcing themselves toward the Bone Wall. Several fragments still clipped them repeatedly, opening more wounds across their bodies, but they ignored the pain completely.
They were close now.
Close enough to see Razeal clearly.
But.. Then suddenly
Their movements stopped.
Not willingly.
One of them barely had time to widen his eyes before three massive meteors crossed directly through his path from different directions simultaneously.
The impact swallowed him completely.
Booooooooo!!
The explosion alone tore apart the sky around him.
The second Great Saint tried to shift direction instantly
But sadly.. Too late.
Another cluster of burning meteors crashed directly into him one after another.
Boooom!!!
Booooo!!
BOOOOM!!
The force shattered his defensive aura instantly before his body disappeared beneath the explosions completely.
Nothing remained afterward
Not even fragments.
Only burning fire and collapsing debris falling toward the battlefield below.
The meteor shower itself still did not stop.
Second after second, more meteors continued descending endlessly from the heavens as though determined not merely to destroy the army..
But to flatten the entire battlefield itself.
The ground below no longer resembled land.
It resembled the aftermath of apocalypse.
Everywhere the eye could see, gigantic craters burned beneath rivers of molten stone while smoke and fire swallowed the horizon entirely.
No enemy remained visible anymore.
Everything had already been reduced to ash, molten rock, or scattered fragments buried beneath the destruction
And still
The meteors kept falling.. As if even to end any target deep down the ground.
